MSI BIOS Update Fixes Error Message on Intel 700 and 600 Series Motherboards

Regarding some of our users receiving an error message of "UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR" upon Blue Screen of Death with MSI's Intel 700 and 600 Series Motherboards. MSI and Intel have been working hard these several weeks to come up with a solution together and have found the root cause of the BSOD issue which is regarding the firmware setting of Intel Hybrid Architecture. It is determined that the BSOD will only affect Intel's 13th Gen Core i9 paired with the following versions of the Windows operating system (OS).

The new BIOS coming will include an update on the Intel CPU uCode which will prevent any more messages regarding the "UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR" issues. This upcoming update will correspond to both 13th-generation and newer ones. There will be more BIOS available to download on MSI's official website for all Intel 700 and 600 Series models this week and all BIOS release will be available by the end of September.

Intel's microcode was the culprit. And then people say that AMD's AGESA is buggy and that Intel does not have problems.

You must really hate Intel to trash them for an issue that only happend with MSI.

Do you think Z690 Tomahawk isn't included in the list because it's not affected by this issue or not supported by the FIX ?!

Wrong. This affects multiple 13th gen models. Not just i9's. And multiple motherboard vendors. At least the ones who used this specific microcode.
Initially, the issue was identified with MSI boards but more recently, we have seen this issue come up on motherboards from other brands as well including ASUS and Gigabyte. MSI was quick to give affected users a temporary workaround but it looks like Intel themselves have gotten to the bottom of this issue which is not caused by the motherboards but in fact, it has to do with the latest micro-code.
In its latest statement, Intel states that its latest microcode for 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs, versions 0x119 and 0x4119 (released in June 2023), have mismatched GDS_NO flag values between P-Cores & E-Cores. This issue affects processors with the IDs 0xB0671, 0xB06A2, and 0xB06A3.

IMO it's true, from what I see being posted online, AMD BIOS issues are more common then intel BIOS issues....

More common yes, but are they more severe?

Id say having your OS fail to boot due to microcode is pretty bad compared to intermittent USB dropout or TPM related stuttering - something that i have personally never experienced on AM4.

The huge problem here is that MSI hasn't committed to full BIOS availability until end of September (the announced update was only for 9 of their 35 Z690/Z790 boards, not counting all of the H & B series).

The Windows update that triggered their bug was the 8/22 non-security update, so it's OK to postpone it. But on 9/12 we will get a Windows security update that will undoubtedly include fixes for zero-day vulnerabilities. Windows updates are cumulative, so the 9/12 update will include the 8/22 code.

If some boards aren't updated until EOM, that means tons of MSI users will be vulnerable to zero-day security issues from 9/12-9/30, up to 2-1/2 weeks. That's unacceptable. MSI needs to commit to full BIOS availability by 9/12.
