GIGABYTE Unveils "Throne and Liberty" Co-branded Motherboard and Graphics Card

"Throne and Liberty" is Amazon's foray into big budget fantasy MMORPGs, and is being licensed to manufacturers of PC hardware and gaming peripherals. GIGABYTE unveiled two such pieces of hardware, the Z790 AORUS Elite X Throne and Liberty Edition; and the GeForce RTX 4070 WindForce OC Throne and Liberty Edition. Both products come in fancy Throne and Liberty co-branded boxes. The Z790 AORUS Elite X special edition gets Throne and Liberty decals on its large CPU VRM heatsinks. The RTX 4070 WindForce OC special edition gets such decals on its backplate, and has themed fan impeller hub stickers. The two products are otherwise identical to their originals. Throne and Liberty went live on December 7.

I admit that im very disappointed by the lack of effort lately in special editions and cobranding.
This looks similar to NVIDIA's "slap a sticker on it" special edition 4080 and 4090 cards they have been making. Really feels like minimal effort.

Also - I hope that the actual package of the card won't have as messed up proportions as the ones shown here in the promotion / rendering. The very first lesson anyone into digital media learn is that you don't mess up with aspects and proportion

Makes sense only if it's going to have a lower price than the stock design.

Everyone knows that cleavage increases clock speeds by a 10% minimum...

What of I want to play something else?

Just install (O)LED screens and let them sync with whatever the user is playing. I mean, take the useless to the next level already...

ALL of which just strengthens my usual sentiment on this kind of stuff.....

"Moar gamr toyz for da gamr bois" :D

Seeins how these are otherwise completely stock cards/mobo's with ZERO added performance/benefits/features (unless that cleavage thing is "real" hahahaha :)), I wonder how much extra $$ the slap-on tax will be....

It's like we've come full circle, back to the 80's and 90's with graphics printing on parts..

I will never understand why they never use AMD for these cross/media hardware.

That rendering on the GPU is hideous. It looks like it was made by someone who just learned how to use Blender, hell that waxy unblemished skin and dead stare reminds me of a Fallout 3 character. The head also looks way too small for the neck? The box art is WAY better.

I will never understand why you have to drag AMD into literally every thread for no good reason.

I can understand your sentiment but you cannot disagree with my position. From Gundam to Sonic everything is Intel or Nvidia. This has been going on for years and cannot be denied. I have customers that want that for their PCs.

Looks like they hired the same design team that brought us this gem:

This is the first time I've ever heard of Throne and Liberty. I thought it was a throwback to old video card artwork at first.

They can't.

Nvidia prohibits the use of wider power ranges and thus, you have very minimal headroom in regards of OC's for example.

Yeah you can install a better cooler, put some extra stuff with it, but that's about it.

This is a Korean MMORPG, the first trailer was launched on 2011 as Lineage Eternal to be a rival of diablo series, then proceed to launch in Korea 2014/15 then unlaunched and became project TL, then renamed to Throne and Liberty and launched this month after 12 years of public development.

On one hand, we're back to the 90s/early 00s again, with semi-generic CGI girl on the GPUs again!

On the other, they really half-assed it with the split sticker. At least the mobo sticker doesn't break things up.

Also, I'm with kapone32; it's a bit sad that AMD doesn't get some love too in any of these cross promotions, esp. when the colorways would line up perfectly (Eva 02 being Red/Black/White, and perfectly in-line with AMD's colorways).

This reminds me so much of the old 8800gtx and 9800 gtx branding of old !

Those look cheap as hell. I mean, like I've just slapped a random sticker myself.

Though having some box art is a nice blast from the past.

Early 2000s called, they want their corny GPU designs back.

Also, GPU box art is in the wrong aspect ratio.

Except now the art is actually hideous in every possible way, screaming 'my first days in Photoshop' on top of it.

In the age of TikTok, that's probably a boon.
