MAXSUN Showcases Unique Mini-ITX Motherboard and Other Models at Computex 2024

MAXSUN's brand and products might not be well-known in the West, however, in Asia and China they have built a solid reputation over the years. It offers products such as motherboards and graphics cards that strike a good balance between price, performance, and build quality. MAXSUN might lack the capacity to manufacture in large volumes, however some of their products are perfectly capable of performing on par with similar mid-range models from top-tier brands like Gigabyte or ASUS, all at a lower price, making them an option to consider for users on tight budgets.

At this year's Computex, MAXSUN showcased a diverse range of motherboard models in various form factors for both Intel and AMD platforms. Our attention was drawn to four models supporting Intel CPUs: the unique MS-Terminator B760BKB D5, MS-Terminator H770YTX D5 WIFI, the surprisingly beautiful MS-iCraft B760M CROSS, and what seems to be one of the MS-Terminator Next-Gen motherboard for Intel Arrow Lake-S.
The MS-Terminator B760BKB D5 is a unique Mini-ITX motherboard with Intel B760 chipset. Its uniqueness comes from its single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot that sits on the back of the PCB instead of at the front. This approach cuts the need for a PCIe riser cable and this is so far the single Mini-ITX motherboard with this feature. The only drawback is that small form factor cases to support this solution might be hard to find. While the exact specs were not provided we observed that the motherboard supports most current Intel CPUs besides the upcoming Arrow Lake, includes two DDR5 slots, a 10-phase (8+1+1) power delivery and two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots (one on the front of the PCB, one on the back). The I/O back panel features 4x USB 3.2, 4x USB 2.0, 1x Type-C, HDMI and DP, and 1x 2.5 Gbs LAN port plus 2x Wi-Fi antenna connectors. A Clear CMOS button is an interesting addition.
The MS-Terminator H770YTX D5 WIFI was released this January and now we had the chance to actually see it. The motherboard uses 8+1+1 phase power module, supports (Intel's) 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Core processors, and also supports dual-channel DDR5 8000 memory. This motherboard has rich interfaces, with three Type-C interfaces at the front and rear. The PCIe 5.0 slot supports 8+8 split, provides four M.2 slots, SFF-8654 interfaces, and supports four SATA hard drives. It is equipped with Realtek Sound card and network card.
The MAXSUN MS-iCraft B760M CROSS is an eye-catching Micro-ATX motherboard with a rounded heatsink design. Its white PCB, dotted in purple and blue, gives it a unique look. Being an Intel LGA1700 platform, it supports 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen Core Intel CPUs. You can fit 4x DDR5 memory modules up to 7600 MT/s with Intel XMP OC profiles. It also features one full-sized PCIe Gen 5 x16 slot, one PCIe Gen 3 x4, and one PCIe Gen 3 x1 slot. For storage, it includes 3x M.2 4x4 slots, and 4x SATA 6 Gb/s ports. The price is tempting at about $149. The only issue is getting it outside the Asian part of the world.
MAXSUN also showcased one of their upcoming models, the MS-Terminator that features the new LGA 1851 socket which will be compatible with Intel's next-gen Arrow Lake-S "Core Ultra 200" Desktop CPUs. Not too many details here, it seems to be built around the Z890 chipset with a strong power module and plenty of features.

The first ITX board is interesting since you slot the GPU on top. You could use it in a case like the Fractal Ridge, IF it were compatible.

The second ITX board is similar to mini-DTX, but extended to the other side.
I like that layout. It is good for a case without a GPU riser and longer cards. It gives more options for M.2 and other components.
But the back connectors are meh, since you need extra room for the cables and connectors itself, making an itx case thicker. Also not enough fan header and not enough USB-C.

Back side PCIe is a nice idea. Need S1851 variant in all black..

The Maxsun iCraft motherboard also has a matching anime GPU available.
A 4060 I believe.

There's a special place in my heart for ITX, especially after building a few ITX rigs. It just feels like better utilization of the space with literally the same specs as an ATX board...
I can see mini pc's with dedicated GPU's becoming a step smaller than ITX become a thing...
