Today, AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) opened a new engineering design center in Serbia, with offices in Belgrade and Nis, strengthening its presence in the Balkans region. The new design center will employ highly skilled software engineers focused on the development of software technologies optimized for AMD leadership compute platforms, including the AMD ROCm software stack for AMD Instinct data center accelerators and AMD Radeon graphics cards. The center was established through an agreement with HTEC, a global technology services company.

Under the leadership of industry veteran Đorđe Simić, the AMD teams will focus on developing AI, graphics and software technologies for use across multiple products, as well as on optimizing open-source tools, libraries and models to make it simpler and more scalable to run the latest AI applications on AMD hardware.

AMD most recently expanded its engineering presence in the Balkan region with the opening of an R&D center in 2021 in Iasi, Romania, and will continue to work with HTEC and other regional technology services firms to supplement software and hardware development projects. In addition, AMD plans to establish collaboration with local universities to provide educational resources and engineering internship programs, aiming to further develop local engineering capabilities in support of its future growth plans in Serbia.
