Google Aquires GrandCentral Communications

Expanding it's effort to organize the world's information, Google announced it has bought GrandCentral Communications. Based out of California, GrandCentral Communications provides an innovative web-based voice communication platform that allows users to organize multiple phones under a single phone number. Acting as a virtual secretary the software can treat each incoming call differently. Voicemail can be read, listened to or forwarded and phone numbers can be marked as SPAM. This business move could indicate the integration of GoogleTalk and Gmail. GrandCentral Communications started in 2005 and is currently inviting a limited number of beta testers.

Man, every time I hear about Google buying someone out, I can't help but to think it's one buy-out closer to collapse. I mean, at what point do they over-extend themselves?

Google are mighty, they can basically buy whoever they want with the exception of perhaps Microsoft.

Perhaps, but the quote "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" springs to my mind.

I dunno, but I see this all ending one of 2 ways. Google becomes the next MS, or they suffer a catastrophic collapse.

I doubt that, google are doing very well for themselves atm, and tbh I would love to see google take down Microsoft.

Again, perhaps. It's just my opinion anyway. I'm by no means an expert in economics, and could be flat wrong. But, it all just gives me a bit of an un-easy feeling.

i wonder if google has bought any of microsoft's stock. they most likely have, but not enough to have a say on the board right now. why doesnt google create their own operating system? i bet people would love it!
