Seems that way. You can't find them on the shelf anywhere in my area.

In my local games shop they completely sold out after about 5 days of getting new stock.

The shelves were packed at my local Circuit City last week, they were out of PS3s though, which I found odd. I asked about it and they said they got a run on them when they lowered the price, and haven't got a new shipment in yet. They just got a shipment of Wiis in though.

wile E.. if you were really looking for one, i am in n.e. ohio and we ususally have some avaliable on tuesdays and the circuit city always has 6-10 every sunday..

GL finding a wii around NW ohio.

My brother got one in Costco :D. Interesting to see that they didn't mention price. The two lowest cost consoles are selling best, while the two almost similarly priced consoles are doing almost the same. Just goes to show a good product is nothing without a good price.

that is not entirely true, resident evil 4 is awesome on the wii, escape from bug island isnt for kids either (though it is sucky)... call of duty, splinter cell, resident evil umbrella chronicles, and the next resident evil..not to mention manhunt 2 (all be it watered down on all the versions.).. the wii isnt just for kids

that being said.. i sold my cube because my wii plays all its games ( most important of which is mariokart double dash).. but i kept my ps2 so i could play god of war 2.. .....

Really? Can you back your well known fact up with statistical data? A lot of websites are claiming the Wii appeals to many age demographics. That can be dismissed as marketing, but do you have any data to refute it?

Walking around the Dorms I see quite a few Wiis. When you get to college you might want to tell these 18-22 year olds that they should grow up and play dull games with pretty graphics like call of duty 3. I think I'll go play some mario party.

At least they last on my local store shelves for 2 or 3 days before being sold out, used to, they come in and BAM, they are sold out. I just cant get one.....right now ::muhaha::

All my friends (age bracket 15-27) love their Wii the most out of any console they own. So BOOYa! They love specific games on other consoles, and the wide spread of games available for PS2, but for pure fun, and the in-person social aspect that Wii has brought to home gaming (before you'd have to go to a video arcade - which was geeky, now just invite ur friends over to play Wii, and you're the man).

That whole generation thing is crap, I agree. Some of the best games are the Old School ones man, the OG! For my DS I just bought, the game I play most is Super Mario World (adapted from SNES version). A good game, playability, and fun, are far superior to graphics. Heck, you have perfect resolution graphics in your everyday life, but that doesn't make it fun or desirable does it? hahahah.

On topic tho, I expect to see PS3 sales jump when GT5 comes out, and Xbox360 when Halo 3 hops off on September 25th. But if Wii keeps coming out with good titles and good usage of their innovative controller, they'll continue to be sold out errwheyr.

I think the Wii hype will die down. Right now, they're selling like hot cakes due to the lack of availability and attractive price point... but as soon as the market becomes over saturated, the sales numbers will plummet. I'm glad Nintendo is selling so many Wii's though... it's nice to see their product popular among people, unlike the Game Cube.
