Microsoft Auto-Updates Components of Windows Without User Permission
The average Windows XP or Vista user has Windows Update turned on, so that they will ideally be more secure. However, quite a few businesses elect not to have automatic updates, as the version that they are running is stable, and moving to a new version might cause instability in a mission critical environment. Lately, however, Microsoft has been thinking that they know better than their users. Regardless of whether or not a user has automatic updates turned off, Windows XP and Vista automatically update roughly nine files in Windows Update. While it is not a big deal for people that don't mind having the most up-to-date version of Windows, this is a very large breach of security, privacy, and possible stability for anyone who elected to turn Windows Update off.

Ya not going sue them there's shi you can really do thats why they do it.
BUT updating these files without people knowing gets rid of more hacked versions of the net. BUT like some one else said what if it screwed your comp up. i bet they would not pay to put it right after for you as not everyone can correct problems with a PC there for they would have to pay.
I really hope they get taken court my self not due to doing the updates behind your back but due to the fact who else could do this.
And no they won't get taken to Court because I don't tyhink that thjey would have had those automatically updated unless they knew with 99.99999999999999999999999% certainty that there wouldn't be any problems with theses updates screwing up peoples computers:roll::roll:
this isnt to big an issue to me, ms didnt update my system when i got back online, infact i was watching for it all day, i dont use auto update, i do it manualy, but then again i use windows 2003 server not xp(hate xp, hate vista.......*hugs his 2003 server* )
and from what i was reading the update was just to ms update files and acctualy was done to close some critical holes that could be exploited by hackers to crash or gain access to your system, so to me that kind of forced update i can live with, where it an update that could totaly fubar windows, then i wouldnt be to keen on it, but i have yet to see a problem with ms update software being updated ;)
dont you realise that ms can fully dissable vista if it even thinks your doing something they dont like?
read your EULA, your not even allowed to work around buggs in vista its against the eula, hence dispite ms GIVING ME VISTA ULTIMET i wont use it, my 2003 works great as it is, and they cant dissable the gfx card if they think im pirating movies or something.........drm sucks!!!!!
The point is, Bioshock isn't the only modern 3d game and I have no idea what your trying to get at.

Yes i think it's wrong and i know many others who do too. Shame they cannot make other things work so well as this update(s).
BUT whats is worse if M$ can do this ANY BODY can.
They did not update my system as Outpost Firewall blocks every thing i don't want.
