China to Train Police Officers With Terrorism-Themed Computer Game Counter-Strike
Over 300 police officers in China's northern port city Tianjin were "mobilized" to an internet cafe Wednesday for a three-day competition of the terrorism-themed computer game Counter-Strike. Han Zhen, a tactical instructor of Tianjin police, says the game is a close resemblance to real-life scenarios and enhances the terrorism awareness of Tianjin's police force while also sharpening their anti-terrorist skills. Since the competition was announced in March, almost half of the entire Tianjin force are now regular players.

On a more serious note, they have to be more serious and do some serious training, seriously! ;)
I fail to see many practical parallels. If anything, it would probably make them more likely to use lethal force when dealing with a situation if you tell them that CS is like real life.
