Manhunt 2 Hacks Surface; Unlock 'Removed Gore'

When Rockstar Studios decided to make their game M-rated instead of AO-rated, they didn't actually remove the gore. Instead, they merely hid it within the game. And now, hackers are beginning to find way to unlock this gore. Rockstar owner Take-Two Interactive recently confirmed that the hack works for the PSP, and there are almost certainly beta hacks in development for the other consoles. The discovery will very likely get Rockstar Studios in trouble with the ESRB, as this is not the first time Rockstar has hidden something in their games (Hot Coffee, anyone?).

go rockstar! *ket makes passionate gay love to rockstar for only hiding the gore* I think its more important to note though, if people are making hacks to unlock there gore, what the hell does it tell the ESRB? That we are all sick, twisted individuals and want to see gruesome gore in detail. So, ESRB, fuck off. We dont like your kinds round these 'ere parts *brandishes knuckle duster and steel chain*

i dont blame the for hiding it rather than removing it because they would have had to rewrite the offending part out of the game costing more money and quite a bit of time.

I don't really know why there would be ANY controversy at all.....the game IS rated mature after all..little 8 year Billy pipsqueek shouldn't be playing the god***m thing in the first place:eek:.....where's the fricking parenting these days:wtf:....let the blood, gore and everything else that makes a mature game fun for us that are "legally" able to play them..flow. WHY should WE as responsible players suffer ANY restrictions or censorship because some people can't do their job as parents!! If their little precious turns out to be a turd,:twitch: these a$$holes blame everybody and anybody(else) epecially video games!!:slap:(Lazy f@cking pr$cks):shadedshu...As far as sex in video games, I don't care one way or the other..Although I do believe if it's sex you want, rent a porno or get a girlfriend.....I think it's great they didn't take the gore out...Why should they?:nutkick:<lazy good for nothing parents

why are people angry at ESRB? They did their jobs by rating it. gore that bad should be AO. It's the pc/gaming industry that denies it.

I see what you mean, but when an AO rating keeps a game off of consoles from Sony and Nintendo...that kinda kills sales ;).

I agree 100% But one thing I think needs to be added here is that a complete restructuring of the ESRB should be in order because apparently no one likes them at all: Gamers don't like them when they give out AO ratings, Developers don't like them either when they get their rating changed (most notably Rockstar with GTA:SA and Bethesda with ES4), The politicians dont like them because they arent strict enough (WRONG REASON TO HATE THE esrb IN MY OPINION BUT HEY ITS TRUE FOR THE POLITICIANS EVEN IF i DON'TT LIKE THEIR POINT OF VIEWS ALOT OF THE TIME)

And when you pointy out 8 year old Billy Pipsqueak you forgot an important thing. Though Billy may be 8 and unlikely to be able to purchase the game 17 and 18 year olds can.
The thing the ESRB will prosecute for is the fact that the 17 year olds shouldnt be exposed to this kind of thing, but then I would say whats the point if almost every store requires to see an ID to verify that your 18 years old even if you only want to buy an M rated game which btw is supposed to be for 17 and up, so the ESRB's point would be for nothing except maybe a couple dozen 17 year olds who are possibly affected by this, and furthermore how many of those few dozen 17 year olds that this affects do you think really know how to hack a game I can tell you right her right now that iots not going to be very many if at all.

Good!

Those people who want to play the full version should be allowed to.

I don't see how ANYONE can blame videogames for their kids turning out bad. Surely the PARENTS should be dictating what games their kids play.

If you let a games console and the TV raise your kids, then you deserve whatever failure they turn into. There's nothing wrong with kids playing games as long as it is monitored by parents.

Parents just seem to expect the government to take care of their kids for them and somehow magically protect them from all the sex, violence, drugs etc.

My first Playstation 1 game was Driver, first PS2 game I got was GTA:III (with all the hookers and banging 'em in cars, and shooting triads and the mafia etc..), and I watch a fuggin' lot of TV, all this as a kid.

I turned out fine!! I just have a bad temper and I'm addicted to games, that's all. Oh and I'm a boring person. That about covers it.

has anyone actually done any studies on violence+games? I would be interested to see how they go about that one. the most violent people I have ever met could, most certainly not, afford a PS2

Damn there are some poor deprived people in this forum.
I can't talk, though, the last encounter was a month ago in a dance club cubicle, her and I made sure it was a once off.:p

Anyway I wouldn't expect any 'hot coffee' type mods in Manhunt 2, it would just be weird.
Good on Rockstar for just hidding the good stuff instead of removing it.:rockout:
Maybe Rockstar always knew there were going to be hackers out there who will unlock it, after the hot coffee mod was unlocked.

Will definitley be getting Manhunt 2 for my PSP.

Rockstar have never failed with thier game quality, except for the State of Emergency series IMO.

Apparently Rockstar started developing it and then realized it probably wouldnt be approved so instead of rewriting all of the code for the game just to edit this part out, they locked it in the code. And so you needed a hacker to get it to work

Possibly to see how far they could push the R18 rating of gaming.

The more the years go on the more socitey gets decensortized.

Swearing on T.V was real no no 20 or so years ago I was told.
Apparently even the word shit.

A movie called Clockwork Orange was banned in countries then too, so I hired it out to see what was so bad about it.
Nothing, it actually paled in comparison to the movies out now.

You work for ID Software, man!

I completely agree. yeags ago, my girlfriend at the time worked for K*B Toys, and she used to tell me of these parent's that came into the store with their kids and purchased M-rated games, and had absolutely no idea what kind of content was in them.

I can't stand how everyone wants to point fingers at the gaming industry, though. It's ridiculous. Remember after the Colombine incident, when politicians and lawyers were going after ID Software because of Doom and Wolfenstein3D? (Although, much thanks to ID Software for publicly stating they will no longer develop games like that, while behind the scenes and under tight wraps they started developing Doom3 :rockout:)
