Torrent Tracker Demonoid Shut Down by CRIA

There seems to be a worldwide crackdown on piracy, as of late. Demonoid was once shut down by the Canadian Recording Industry Association, and then came back on the promise that Canadians could not access Demonoid. Unfortunately for anyone hoping for a fast and easy way to download that latest Linux distribution, the CRIA had a nasty surprise for the administrators of Demonoid. You can see the nasty surprise on the front page of the website.
The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.
This method of site shutdown, called "upstream takedown", was done in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act

b1lk1All I will say is that you guys spouting off that the pirates cannot be stopped are really gonna be eating your words in the next few years to come. Your idiotic logic that software/music/movies/whatever is costing too much and you deserve it for free is gonna finally be squashed. Please, noone needs to respond to me with a personal attack since I am not attacking anyone personally. But I do firmly agree with the fact that pirating is what makes things cost more and I have no sympathy for these sham sites getting closed. The sooner they all get closed down the sooner our prices will drop.
You're probably right, but you're also missing a point. How can the movie industry claim that internet piracy is making them loose money if most of the people never intended to pay to see the movie or use a software/game? Basically how do you know you lost money because of a Ipirate? Can they really claim that a person downloading it for free would have paid to see it?

I'm not gonna personally attack you, and I don't think piracy is right, but if you think stopping it will lower prices, you have fooled yourself. They'll just find a different excuse to keep prices high.

one of the reasons your friends are still losing is that they won't be able to play muti-players games; unless they don't give a shiet about it then I have nothing to say.

Governments are pirates too, lets go shut those asshats down. Oil companies are pirates, lets shut those down also, as with retail chains, and every other company or type of organisation that doesn't personally make what they sell to you.

yer, i know. some games are online playable without authentic keys & others have patches to allow online play... & then u have the "smart" idea of accounts that you can only create with a genuine copy & then play via a login style system.
than again with ppl getting smart & making proper keygens (not "fake" ones that just have a list of keys & display one at random) the companies are finding it harder 2 stop ppl coz they may infact have a genuine copy... or may be using a key of a copy that hasn't been sold yet.
i know there ain't many "proper" keygens about.... but they seem 2 b getting there... especially when vista was released! what an unexpected boom in the keygen market...NOT

I had just joined demonoid not to long ago. Kind of sad really, I had an awesome ratio there and even created a torrent upload for them. Hopefully, they can bounce back with servers placed somewhere else. Or they could turn a pc into their own server and go from there...sad day.

the piratebay, while a decent site, also sucks in that alot of torrents are fakes or viruses and there isnt any real way to fix them.

Makes me wonder if your not one of these guys who get paid to come on to sites and Troll for the industry with negative remarks:). I have no problem picking out the good files from the bad. My antivius program does a wonderful job of letting me know. I've found bad progs in a lot of torrent sites, and guess what alot of them are put their by the industry, do some home work and I'm sure you will find some programs that have not been tampered with and for the guys who work hard to give me a chance to Try before I Buy makeing it all happen a big THANK YOU.

Using a keygen to crack a game most likely will not get you to the Online play. From my point of view, I wouldn't spend the time to look hard in finding a keygen/crack that really works my way to Online mode. I also would definately not risk my life by passing those in-store-cameras to steal a legit-game-key by openning the game box in the store, and most likely will get caught and lose my whole face for a stupid game.
All in all, Single-Player will worth the crack. But for Muti-Player, I'd pass.

TPB is OK, but Demonoid had a lot less spam and garbage on it, and no porn clogging the tracker. Private trackers are usually moderated better. Not to mention, the search filter was far superior to TPB. Still like TPB tho, Demonoid was just better.

just for the record most torrents are only around 15KB - 200KB (most*) the files themselves arnt from the site. so the download speeds wouldn't have anything 2 do with which site u visit 2 get them but whether there good or bad torrents.

& as for the viruses & shit most of the time if its a good torrent (lots of seeds) then it *usually* isn't a virus. (except for when the corps have a lot of peers hosting there fake files).
coz most ppl will delete a torrent once they detect a virus (which like IcrushitI, my virus scanner also allways tells me)

as long as u have 1\2 a brain torrents are great. (not saying anyone here had 1\2 a brain.... except me from how often ive been drunk lately!)

oh, & isohunt ROCKS... is easy 2 find torrents & they dont fill the page with CRAP (expecially when im using firefox with adblock & flashblock stuff!!!

Moderated trackers have less garbage on them, thus higher speeds as there's less people devoting bandwidth to bad torrents, leaving more bandwidth to the good torrents.
