XFX Announces GeForce 8800 GT 256MB

It appears that XFX will be the first manufacturer to introduce 256MB version of GeForce 8800 GT. The GeForce 8800 GT 256MB (available in standard and XXX Editions) looks identical and has all the features of its big brother 8800 GT 512MB. The only difference should appear under the cooler, where the memory chips are situated. The cards will be marking its debut as of next week, landing in retailers for an expected reseller price of 149 € excluding VAT.

PVTCaboose1337So are you saying that a card with 256mb is useless?

So lets say I have an x1300 with 512mb of memory and a 8800gt with 256mb of memory... that does not mean the x1300 is better!
Yeah but 8800GT 256mb vs 8800GT 512mb is different. The difference could mean playable or unplayable.

Why have a corvette with 8inch wide tires on the rear?

nguyenpeter76heheh any mb will be fine with me cause i have a nvidia riva tnt2 32mb which is like 5-6 years old
 Hehe. Riva TNT2 32MB was released on March 1999, TNT2 Ultra on May and TNT2 M64 on July. So it's more like your card has 8-9 Years. It's an antique and still running! Soon it will cost like 6000$!! :rockout:

Yeah but the card with 256 it's not intended to compete with the other one! It's in a different price point. Nvidia could have very well marketed a revamped 8600, like 64 SP 256bit 512MB 8600GTX, or something like that. Be sure that 8800GT 256MB will perform better than that 8600GTX in every game and resolution, be it now or in the years to come. So why the complaints?
