Sony Computer Entertainment America Celebrates First Birthday of PLAYSTATION 3

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) yesterday celebrated the first birthday of its PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) computer entertainment system. Launched one year ago in North America, PS3 has revolutionized the industry with its Cell Broadband Engine and RSX technology which gives the system tremendous computational power; Blu-ray Disc capabilities which provides state-of-the art graphics and unrivaled storage capacity; and free access to PLAYSTATION Network where PS3 users can experience online gaming, connect with other PS3 users as well as download games, movies and other content from the PLAYSTATION Store. In its first year, more than 200 software titles have been released for PS3 and more than 60 million pieces of content have been downloaded from PLAYSTATION Network worldwide. SCEA recently introduced new PS3 hardware models and pricing and the company is already seeing strong sales momentum as a result - PS3 sales have increased by 192 percent at the top 10 retailers in North America.

i expect the longevity on the ps3 to outlast the xbox 360 by one console cycle.

"more than 200 software titles have been released for PS3"
can anyone tell me how 200 software titles have came out for the system? Its has a smaller selection at any place. But, then again, its only here in US. No telling what stuff the Japanese have done.

yeah, some label movies as software because of the "extras" that are put into it. But, that still means that its not connected with the PS3. I mean they all are Blu-ray discs, don't get me wrong, but the movies are connected to the players that support it... So I would never count, myself, as the movies being part of software for the PS3.

You notice whenever sales are actually kinda low for a product, they just tell you how much they've released and not how much they've sold?
