Alienware m15x and m17x Systems Confirmed

Official confirmation has been made of two upcoming Area-51 notebooks by Alienware, the 15-inch and 17-inch m15x and m17x systems. A formal announcement is expected to be made on Monday in New York City. The company has revealed that the notebooks will come in two case designs, called Skullcap and Ripley; no other details are being made official however, with the exception of some teaser photos, seen below. Leaked information suggests that the systems will have the option of a new GeForce 8800M GTX video card, with the m17x being capable of hosting two such GPUs in SLI mode. The 17 may also be able to scale to a 2.8GHz mobile Core 2 Extreme processor, and fit in Blu-Ray for the optical drive.

But at $9000 or so, it won't be worth it. Ok, thats a little much. A little less would be Alienwares price though.

Agreed Atnevon. Im glad to see alienware taking a different direction with design. I like the keyboard they got there. Not sure what that other thing being offered is. One thing Id love to see from boutique shops, is the cool case accents offered in more affordable packages. I mean, we cant all afford uber cpus, gpus and bd burners.

Its kind of funny that the 8800GTX is still the performance king and prefered gpu by OEM highend makers still after exactly a year after launch?? I would have expected something new out that would be better (something more than Ultra)?? :)

I'm pretty certain the chassis these two laptops use will be made by another company, just badged as alienware. So i'm pretty sure you could get the same device cheaper, just without the alienware logos on it.

Alienware is just like a lot of other companys who do not make their own hardware, they just tart up someone elses.

waste of money imho.
