Petition Started to Extend Windows XP Life; 75,000 Sign in Three Weeks

Infoworld started a Save XP petition on their website. The main goal of this petition is to get Microsoft to continue handing out Windows XP licenses beyond the June 30 deadline Microsoft put out. Fortunately for Windows XP diehards everywhere, an astounding 75,000 people have signed this petition so far. Infoworld plans on presenting this petition to Microsoft when they reach 100,000 signatures. If you have not already done so, I suggest you sign the petition if you feel that Windows XP should be around a little longer than June 30, 2008.

if windows 2000 wasn't all outdated.. i'd completely want to use that.. its a damn fast os compared to xp cause it doesn't have very much bloatware in it.. its slim and doesn't have all of the graphics.. so it runs really fast and efficent.. but then again theres not much support on it and all of that junk so yeah.. jumped to xp.. but vista is just like.. why the hell would i be taking a free vista cd offered to me by a dads friend and install vista when i dont have a dx10 card?

If Windows Vista SP1 fixes all the problems then i will more likely get it. But not till it is like a DX10 version of XP(which is hopefully SP1).

i still take 2k over xp, but thats just me, with a few minor tweaks its just as gaming ready as xp, but less bloat.

but then again i prefer x64 pro or 2003 server to xp (server 2k3 is what xp should have been, 100% stable, 100% reliable, low bloat, its a DREAM!!!! and it uses the same drivers as xp :D )

apple2e/2c/2gs
ibm 286dos
ibm 386dos/win311/win95
ibm 486 same as above
ibm 586/pentium same as above, some 98
686/pentium same as above but add nt4 for the libery computers because the liberian/lab manager was sick of fixing 95/98 systems over and over and nt never needed fixed.

Unfortunately Pancho, Windows 2000 doesn't support multi-threading, I doubt it would support dual-core processors :/ but yes it was a blazing fast OS.

Vista eats a lot of RAM but that's ok, it puts them to use.
Vista has DX10, you need a monster GPU to run DX10 games at ok framerates. that is also fine with me so far.
BUT the fact that my WiFi wont work (most of the time) or connect/disconnect randomly without any possibility of advanced troubleshooting... that is not freakin' ok!

While in XP with the same hardware there is nothing but smooth sailing, all the controls at my fingertips, no bsod, no faulty drivers for me, no mystical "why did my wireless disconnect since i have max signal, and why cant I have advanced controls like in XP??" .

Why would I wish to switch to Vista when even the most basic of stuff like say maybe a internet connection is a challenge to set up (in some cases of course).

My opinion is that Vista is much like Windows ME... a intermediary offshoot. some of you probably never heard of Win ME, and even less used it. I hope Windows Vienna will be better designed/supported.
