Emotiv Building Brain Controlled Gaming Device

OCZ was the first to demonstrate a mind-controlled gaming device at this year's CES, and now US/Australian firm Emotiv is planning to do the same. Dubbed the Epoc, Emotiv's device is worn on the head and can detect neural activity in the brain, allowing it to be used as an input device for gaming. The Epoc is also capable of recognising facial expressions and features a gyroscope to detect head movement, meaning it could be used to create in game avatars based on players' emotions. The device is scheduled to go on sale later this year for $299 and could potentially revolutionise video gaming if it catches on.

This would be cool, if it actually works. I doubt it will actually replace the keyboard/mouse for gaming, but could definitely supplement them. Looking forward to some reviews.

Should this support movement by tilting your head, and supports PC games such as STALKER and Crysis, this may be what I want for Christmas.

what a waste of time - id rather all the money that went into funding the research, creation & marketing of this peice of god forsaken junk go towards the development of a brain implant that has bluetooth, wireless, GPS any sort of connection rolled into 1 that would allow the user to seamlessly connect to wireless networks - remote control their pc, & answer their mobile phone like a hands free kit etc.

some might say its very matrix'y, some may say im a retard, some may say thats its Johnny memonic (that movie with the dude who played neo in the matrix who had the hard drive implanted into his head) some may say that its very ghost in the shell'esk but you know what?

who cares! like anybody gives a toss what i say anyway :P but it would be a nice feature - wirelessly connect to your pc & live life without a keyboard & mouse for all eternity!!! booyah!

(OK if anyone wants to tell me to S.T.F.U you are very welcome to)

All fun-n-games till some a-hole hacks into your wireless network and plants a virus or spyware in your head.:( Or worse still...What if it's a sick prankster...I mean one day your chasing girls, this guy plants a program (in your head) and faster than you can install windows vista he's got you smoking pole out in back of the "Blue Oyster Bar":twitch:  No thanks, I think I'll stick to more conventional interfacing and interaction. Long live the keyboard and mouse!!

apparently you need to use the mouse to aim (or atleast with OCZ's one) & ur brain to move, jump, shoot etc...... i hope they implimented movement a little more into this one.
