Please make sure you uninstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable program found in "Add or Remove Programs" before install Cat 8.3. I have found 2 of them (yes, I found Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable found twice in Add or Remove Programs) installed on my computer. It appears they do not uninstall along with the rest of the drivers (not sure of Vista users).

What are you talking about? Im alittle confused, Ive never run into this problem with any other driver release. I clear all drivers with add and remove programs and them use driver cleaner. Are you saying cat 8.3 runs into problems with installing 2 Visual C++'s?

On vista it shouldnt reinstall visual c++ if you have the latest version. catalyst 8.2 had the latest version.

Anti-Aliasing Enhancements

This release of Catalyst™ introduces anti-aliasing support for all Unreal Engine 3.0 based games (running in DirectX 9 mode). Users can enable Anti-Aliasing for titles such as Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 by simply enabling Anti-Aliasing within the ATI Catalyst™ Control Center.
Did they forget:
-Frontline Fuels of War
-BioShock
-Medal of Honor: Airborne

And Future games like:
-Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 (3-18-2008) (Ding-Ding)
-Tom Clancy's EndWar
-Huxley
-Turning Point: Fall of Liberty

They really need to let people know what kind of games to expect using their drivers for AA.

So i wonder if there is hardware tesselator support for the 2900 too. Better be, the tesselator IS there after all.

EastCoasthandleShould Frontline Fuels of War be added to the list as it uses the Unreal 3 engine :wtf:
Were the old ATI drivers having problems running DX 9 games with AA turned on?

Cat 8.3 is the first driver that allowed the use (force) of AA in unreal 3 engines as far as I know. This is big news as some (not sure which ones) of nvidia's cards were able to do it for sometime.

Installed, all good :)

3dmark06 never changed, I don't have any of those games listed as improved but it's always fun to get the latest monthly present from ATI.

I'm curious how people with an X2 and 3870 with triple GPU are enjoying these drivers.

well i lost fps in crysis and call of duty 4 running winsows xp. So far the best driver ive used is by Extreme G cat 8.2 optimized drivers.

Does Control panel have any impact on preformance? i might just run the 8.3 pannel.

Im seeing a ~5% increase in performance for dx9 crysis (1280*1024 all high using ingame benchmark). Unfortunately i dont have dx10 numbers to compare to.

I also notcied, that the benchmark is far smoother for dx9. I suspect, actual in game numbers may be better than 5%.

edit: for dx10, from memory (benchmarks done yesterday) there is a marginal (~2% improvement at best).

I'm not sure why people didn't notice my score but crysis dx10 for me went from 18 to 25fps in the test. Not sure what all this talk of marginal increases is? Of course i may just be a small sampling.

Well, i was getting 25fps on all high 1280*1024 before this driver release. I went from 26.7fps on 8.2 to 27.0 on 8.3.

*using in game gpu benchmark

edit:

for dx9 went from 32.2 to 33.8

Don't have Crysis installed right now, but I just ran a quick 3DM06 run, and it jumped me about 80 points from the 8.1's :D
