ASUS Launches Striker II Extreme Motherboard

Catering to gamers who want the ultimate in overclocking and gaming platforms, ASUS has released the ROG Striker II Extreme series of motherboards. Supporting NVIDIA's nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset for exceptional overclocking speeds, this powerful series of motherboards is also equipped with innovative technologies for enhanced graphical and thermal performance, versatile overclocking options; as well as a vast array of features that include device protection - making it the overclocker and gamer's first and best choice.
Fusion Block System for 50% Cooler Thermal Performance
The Fusion Block System utilizes a Pin-Fin heatsink design that combines the ROG's renowned heatpipe design with the additional ability to connect to a water cooling system. By taking the entire integrated solution into design considerations, the user can enjoy 50% cooler thermal performance to the north bridge, south bridge, and even VRM with a single connection - providing them with a versatile, efficient, and advanced thermal system for better overclocking results.

Instant CPU Boosts with CPU Level Up
Catering to avid overclocking enthusiasts and gamers alike, the ROG Striker II Extreme Series comes with two unique features for flexible CPU upgrading without extra costs. The CPU Level Up* feature makes it simple for users to upgrade CPU performances without prior overclocking knowledge. All that is required is for the user to pick the processor speed they want, and the motherboard will do the rest. Instant performance upgrades have never been easier! Overclocking enthusiasts can also make use of the CPU Level Up result to adjust settings for even higher frequencies. The other feature, Extreme Tweaker, is a one stop shop to fine-tune systems for optimal performance. With a vast array of options to tweak frequencies, over-voltage or memory timing settings, this handy application will allow overclocking gurus to fully fine-tune their system to their desired settings for maximum overclocking and performance outputs.

Exceptional Graphical Performance with 3-WAY SLI
The ROG believes in unsurpassed graphical performance to let users achieve the best gaming potentials. The ROG Striker II Extreme allows gamers to attain this high level of performance with support for 3-way SLI technology in PCIe2.0 mode - allowing users to setup 3 high-end VGA cards running with full x16 lanes. When users utilize the 3-WAY SLI setting, higher 3DMark world records and smoother gameplay with higher frame rates and better antialiasing will result for a better gaming experience.

Protect Your Devices with Voltiminder LED and COP EX
In order to pursue the highest level of performance, overvoltage adjustment is crucial. However, this practice is risky and can lead to damage to expensive PC components. Acting as the "red zone" of a tachometer, the ROG exclusive Voltiminder LED displays the voltage status for the CPU, NB, SB, and Memory in an intuitive color-coded fashion. This allows quick voltage monitoring that is essential while overclocking. The COP EX feature allows users to overclock with confidence and increase chipset voltages without the worries of overheating. Used to monitor the chipsets, it can actually save an overheating GPU. With the Voltiminder LED and the COP EX as protection mechanisms, more overclocking freedom and maximum performance can be achieved.

Don't know how the prices are in the US/EU for this, but it's $490 in Canada:eek: The Striker II formula is $335 CAD for reference.

Edit: Well so far it looks like $480USD for the US. Way too much for a board, but I guess if your going DDR3/Tri-SLI, cost shouldn't be an issue, but Damn!

I see this board with a DUAL CORE CPU hitting a FSB of 600 & the QUADS FSB is around 525

So anyone wanting a Q9450 with a 8 x multi should be able to hit a FSB of 1600 with no problems on air = 3.6GHz even 4.0GHz on this new quad should be easy with this board... But make sure you have your arm, leg, and rest of your body parts ready to be sold. Because this board is going to be around $450.00 to $500.00 in the US..

Give it a couple of weeks, and the price should drop below $400. I don't expect this board to end up being any more than $350. Hell, I paid $330 for my P5E3 Deluxe board, and ASUS typically doesn't get over $350.

But, it's an ASUS - you pay premium for their boards . . . but you get what you pay for. Excellent OCability, stable, cool running . . .
