PS3 Firmware v.2.30 Details and New Store Walkthrough

Those of you, waiting for the next PS3 firmware update, ver. 2.30, which includes the revamped PLAYSTATION Store, may now see how the new user interface will look in a video demo featuring Grace Chen. The system software update will also add DTS-HD Master Audio output for Blu-ray videos, which means the high-definition visuals of Blu-ray will now be matched with the highest quality audio for the ultimate movie-watching experience on PS3. The technology delivers audio at the incredibly high rate of 24.5 mega-bits per second (Mbps) on Blu-ray disc, which is significantly higher than standard DVDs. DTS-HD Master Audio also offers 7.1 audio channels at 96k sampling frequency/24 bit depths. The firmware update will add DTS-HD High Resolution Audio as well, which is a similar output technology that requires less disc space.

I want to see something that will gain anything from 24Mbps audio.

I was thinking of maybe selling my 60gb ps3, but this is the sort of bonus that makes me change my mind.

Oh man!!! :toast: The PS3 really is on fire now! If you've ever heard a DTS-encoded DVD/Blu-ray Disc you know it's the best audio codec ever, hands down. This is AWESOME news! Go Sony Go!!! :rockout:

Easy Rhino, I think some people really "don't" want to hear a difference or their ears are simply not sensitive enough (too much loud music over a prolonged period of time maybe?) to pick up the differences.

Then come to my house with my home theatre setup. If you only have mid and lower ranged audio equipment, you won't hear a difference, but if you have upper-mid or higher level audio equipment, the difference is clear.

Back on topic: It's about time they actually made the PS store usable. lol.

so does this mean that the ps3 will decode the MA track and send it to the receiver using LPCM ?
