No worry -- the upgrade should be pretty straightforward if it's just from 7.10 to 8.04. I've got a system that I've upgraded from 5.10>6.06>6.10>7.04>7.10, and it's starting to be a mess.

I'm about to just wipe the whole thing over again and do a fresh install.

I usually use Windows but this compiz fusion got me on youtube, about a 6month or so, and I am amazed of this open source softver!
I spend more and more time whit it and I like it just more and more :D

I tried the earlier 7.10 server version. I Installed it and saw that its all command based like good old unix. Being a windows guy don't know how to proceed or use it. Is the new version GUI based?

The server version is strictly command-line. You can install a GUI on it, but the other versions make it simpler. Regular Ubuntu uses Gnome, and Kubuntu uses KDE. Start off with Ubuntu and then play around with other distributions until you've found something you like.

I suggest downloading Ubuntu 8.04 and doing it the normal way. If you're just starting out on Linux, there's no need to jump into a server edition and using command line to do everything. If you still want to figure it out, after a quick google I found this:

The whole point of me going Ubuntu server edition is to load VMWare and 2 W2K3 32 bit os and play with clustering. If thats a pain I would just load W2K3 64 bit and load VMWare and do the rest.

I suggest you unplug the power of your vista drive and then load ubuntu. Once without knowing I did with XP and it messed up everything. I have to re-install XP.

But Ubuntu 8.04 hase a Nice Feature build in it!
If you enter the CD in drive under windows auto menu will pop up, and you can chose to install Ubuntu in Windows Just Like a Normal Program, so you can't do much wrong!
It will install in 1directory the Hole Ubuntu System (No mather , when you restart the computer you can choose whitch system to Load! :)

Nope -- if you want to play games, better stick with Windows. For everything else (web browsing, schoolwork, video/audio editing, etc.), you're free to run Ubuntu. It's all about using the right tool for the right job.
