Upcoming 3DMark

Beyond3D interviewed Nicklas Renqvist, Futuremark's benchmark development architect, and asked him about the next 3DMark.

Here are some of the feature of the upcoming 3DMark:
  • HDR rendering.
  • Complex HDR post processing.
  • Dynamic soft shadows for all objects.
  • Water shader with HDR refraction, HDR reflection, depth fog and Gerstner wave functions.
  • Heterogeneous fog.
  • Atmospheric light scattering.
  • Realistic sky model with cloud blending.
  • Strauss lighting model for most materials.
  • Subsurface scattering shader for some objects (not visible in the shot).
  • Texture & normal map sizes: 1024 x 1024 to 2048 x 2048.
  • Approximately 5.4 million triangles and 8.8 million vertices.

Thanks for the find, Migons.

But, I'm pretty sure that screenshot is fake.At least it doesen't look as impressive as the one from my post.

It's possible, but HKEPC have cropped the other screenshot too... Maybe it's just taken from "less impressive" part and perspective of the game test...

Man this stuff amazes me every time. I remember when I got my N64 I wondered how graphics could get any better than that.

^^ I remember playing Madden 98 on psx and seeing the opening video and was like wow, when are games gonna actually look like this :D

Same here when I got Star Wars Racer. I remember when my friends and I argued that graphics couldn't get any better and that we're already at photo realistic. We would've kicked our butts then had we seen this. :D
