I'll probably pick up a 1000H if it is priced decently. But if I can get a better full sized notebook for the same price, it isn't worth it to me.

I still think these are very nice computers, but they kinda killed it with the price.

btarunrNo, it is a 3.5" HDD.
That probably kills battery life. But on the plus side you could put in a 1tb drive...

So 1/3 of the weight of the entire machine will come from the 3.5" drive?

btarunrRead every news item which quotes the press release you can find: www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=Eee+PC+901%2C+1000%2C+and+1000+H+Released+in+North+America&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
ASUS' press release states a 3.5" drive, but I think it is a typo on their part. I really don't think a 3.5" drive would fit in the machine, and the SDD drive they use is 2.5", so it makes sense that they would use a 2.5" HDD in its place. All the news post are just quoting from ASUS' press release, and you can't really blame them. However, I have no doubt ASUS is actually using a 2.5" HDD.

There's no way that little thing could use a 3.5" HD. The thickness of the drive itself is the thickness of the lappy when closed  Its just a typo that began @ the source.

So besides the bigger screen it does have a bigger keyboard also ? The 1000 series compared to the 900.

Also how much Ram does it have? it says up to 2GB but its still 1GB right ?

Found the 901 very interesting cause of the better chipset and the intel atom compared to celeron, but if the 1000 has all that and a bigger screen + keyboard might be a winner, although i wonder what prices will be in europe, starting to be a bit hefty and close to other "normal" laptops that only lack the small size.

It's very simple to see its a typo. A 3.5" weighs like a brick. They are quoting only 120g more for the HDD over SDD. So that is either 1.8" or 2.5", but certainly not 3.5. Also the dimensions of a 3.5" wouldnt fit in the case.
