ATOM notebook?

I wonder why anybody would buy this notebook??
The ATOM processor is extremely slow.
This processor takes 24.7 seconds to open a 514KB jpeg file.and the whole system consumes over 34 watts.
Well, thats my personal opinion.

Yeah, it make take a while to do something, but this is just their way to make the all in one portable notebook. You have to start somewhere to get anywhere. I think it's a nice idea. It's built mostly for the on the force type work, like EMT's and that sort or thing. I love playing around with the EMT's Panasonic Thuffy's... Can't wait to see what market gobbles it up! :rockout:

I'd say anything on that screen would be very, very hard to read.
Intel Atom is also underpowered, and $1200 is completely unreasonable for something like this.
Lets do the maths to figure out the DPI of this screen:
A 1280 x 800 5.6 inch screen is 4.75 by 2.96 inches. (figured this out with trigonometry).
That means it has a total of 14.06 inches square.
There are 1,024,000 pixels on this screen, packed into 14.06 square inches.
To figure out DPI, we need the horizontal resolution of the screen. Pythag's theorem tells us that it is ~1509.43.
Divide this diagonal resolution by the diagonal size, and we have ~270 Pixels per inch!! Thats a DPI of 270! :eek:

I was able to watch DivX without any glitches or slowdowns. I think you were using Vista.
