Here For Good!
Seems to be broken fan control, like I said, works perfect for my 280gtx, not at all for my 9800gtx. But the temp drop in games is amazing, no idea how they did that...

raptoriGeforce 180.42: Far Cry 2 runs 30% faster DX10 and better than 4870 with single GTX260

hello my friend , so it is interesting it shown battle between gtx260+ and 4870 , but if you see it is not logical about driver increase 30% performance , so there is some hidden things im sure one of it which decrease un seed extreme details in games maybe we can see it in high AA , or there is something more acceptable which is there new driver depend too much on card ram for increasing performance specially with game like farcry2 contend open spaces , if my though right that mean the 4870 with 1G go too much over the gtx260+ , im not sure but there is some sign in test show the 4870x2 better than 2x gtx260+ , and their is old fact say 2x 4870 beat 4870x2 , so what you say now

well if we're talking about SLI and Crossfire then i can tell you that SLI become lately better than crossfire and whereas 1 GTX260 do better than 1 4870 at least in farcry2 then 2*GTX260 still be better than 2*4870..... its mathematical equation .... and the one think that nvidia made with this driver to make it work better with farcry2 is: improve AA by reading the multisampled depth Z-buffers which is supported in DX10.1 in ATI cards and DX10 in Nvidia cards.

first sli never be better than crossfire in all times and all tests , and the other thing 4870 better than gtx260+ in farcry2 , we can depent in on site test only we see other tests form friend's here in TPU and you see , and maybe you see the hotfix run well on 4870 and it will jump in performance

raptoris logic is that if one GTX260 beats a 4870, then two GTX260's will beat two 4870's.

Hayders argument is what messes the issue up, that SLI is never a 100% gain, and that crossfire tends to be closer to that mark.

who the hell knows how its going to pan out, both ATI and Nvidia are releasing drivers to increase performance, we'll see how it goes.

Someone got 95% with the new beta driver, but that is synthetic bench of course. Still pretty great as I still remember the early SLI days with 30-60% gains and wondered why would anyone use it. Well still few games there that hardly benefit from another GPU.

Looking at the new HD4830 review and seeing how it beats HD3870x2 in Crysis for example is always fun :)
