Danamics LM10 Liquid Metal Processor Cooler Now Yours for 280 Euro

Exactly as promised, Danamics today announced the limited availability of what's claimed to be the first cooler to use liquid metal based technology to cool processors. The Danamics LM10 has generated much excitement since its first appearance, but the limited availability and the enormous price are going to kill the interest in such a product, at least that's what I think. European sites are now offering the LM10 here and here for the astonishing 280 Euro. Danamics also sells what they call a PowerBooster, an optional device that enhances the LM10's performance by providing its electromagnetic pump with more power, for around 128 Euro. Let's assume you want to buy the LM10, you'd need roughly 400 Euro or ~$510 for one of those. In return you'll receive a high-quality air cooler filled up with liquid metal and equipped with an electromagnetic pump that has no moving parts. The cooler is compatible with all Intel LGA 775, AMD AM2/AM2+ and AMD 939/754 sockets. I'm looking forward for a review of the Danamics LM10, it has to be one of a kind cooler to cost so much.

phanbueyI actually havent seen any fan/no fan discussion about this cooler... But just from looking at it, I can tell that you will need some sort of a fan for a high end set-up. Passive cooling would probably only be possible on lower end/non-OC'd chips.

Its basically a ULTRA 120 with an elecromagnetic pump attached to the heatpipes (and metal flowing through it).
I totally agree, even if it has liquid metal flowing through its weins, it will need something to cool the liquid down and transport the heat away from it.

It's a bomb! :)

Oh and they are waiting to get the retail sample, so the nordic hardware review is a dud too. I'd rather have the prototype results now and see the retail difference (if any) when it's done. Yeah I'm impatient, but now it's released and still no-one has any idea on how it performs. Can't be good for business.

Yeah and how many times has someone cracked open thier heatpipes because they were thirsty  but seriously that stuff reacts with water to create heat and if someone deliberately pours it out it will combust with any water nearby, even water vapour.

getting them shipped to the states is an issue, as Customs most likely wont allow it to be shipped intact. So upon receipt in the Us it would have to be filled after the fact. This would make a failure point in the pipes IMHO. We shall have to wait and see what exactly they do about this concept!

thats what killed the OCZ Phase change unit, the fact that it couldnt fly on planes with the hazardous materials inside it.

It goes w/o fan. Fan clamps should be in the package.

But seriously, there is no excuse anymore for bringing review this late, if they ever are going to. Tease and tease, maybe someone will buy them before the review that can't be good. You don't keep good news you want to tell them instantly, no matter how unfinished it is.

And a lousy-looking "power cord" and "booster" - well, seems their fundings came to none on the production stage - I would not buy it now at this case (afraid the cooler production quality might be the same as the one of the wires).

Wow! What an epic failure! I was expecting big things from this liquid metal cooler, and it looks to be on par with the S1283 for about 20 times the price!

Yeah, even though I was sure it wouldn't be as good as the hype was, still to see it get beaten by TRUE (easily) was a surprise. It only got near it with the power booster that costs MORE than TRUE it self.. I vote for closing this threa..news :D

edit: On a positive note, the cooler it self looks nice, but the return power system is absolutely horrid. It should sell with the powerbooster and for the price of just the cooler. Powerbooster should also look a lot better and then the whole system would need a serious discount (or performance boost).

What amazed me the most in the review was how good TRUE did passively :-o People talk that it's a high airflow cooler, but those were impressive numbers for no airflow. Although it probably did have a case fan helping out, but so does every other passive fan too.
