Additional info on DDRdrive

The nice people at DDRdrive replied to my questions about the DDRdrive:

Q: Can I install an operating system and boot from the drive?
A: Yes

Q: Is the product DDR1 or DDR2?
A: DDR1 184 pin

Q: Can you handle 4x1 GB memory modules?
A: Yes, we handle not only 4 - 1GB but 4 - 2GB unbuffered nonECC DIMMs.

Q: What clock speeds will this product run at? Any benchmarks?
A: We are not releasing our clock speed until product announcement for competitive reasons ;-)

Q: Which operating systems are supported?
A: We will be releasing a high performance custom device driver for the Windows XP/2000 platform and will evaluate alternate platforms dependent on demand.

Q: Can you run RAID with the DDRdrive?
A: RAID functionality has been design goal from the start and is expected to be available post "introduction" as a driver upgrade - no ETA at this time.

Q: How does the external power work?
A: We have a very exciting external power strategy which will be detailed in due course, again sorry we are saving details for product release.

Q: When will you have products available?
A: We are working diligently towards that goal and expect to have product available for sale directly from our website (www.ddrdrive.com) at the end of this quarter (1Q2006). The initial "Limited Edition" will be a 512 pieces production run.
