Logitech Unveils New Custom ID Grip for G9 Laser Mouse

The Logitech G9 Laser Mouse has always offered gamers the ability to tune their mouse for the way they play - including features such as weight tuning, interchangeable grips and custom-color LEDs. Now, Logitech lets you make the G9 mouse even more personal with the introduction of the Logitech G9 Laser Mouse ID Grip. With the ID Grip, you can have the image of your choice printed on the palm area of the grip. You can choose among game-specific artwork, a selection from a gallery of designs created by Logitech, or an image you provide.

"In surveying gamers who own a Logitech mouse, we learned that more than 65 percent want to mod their hardware," said Rory Dooley, Logitech senior vice president and general manager of the Control Devices business unit. "The Logitech G9 Laser Mouse ID Grip provides gamers with a new level of personalization. Whether it's a guild logo or a personal photo, we're delighted to give gamers the ability to make the G9 mouse even more a reflection of their unique personality."

To provide a durable image that won't fade even after intense gaming, the rub- and fade-proof image is applied with a specially designed custom printing process that infuses it into the surface of the grip. The result is a high-quality, high-resolution color image. And adding an image to the grip is easy. You can choose from game-specific artwork, such as Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 from Electronic Arts Inc., or upload a personal image of your own. (Certain restrictions apply; uploads subject to technical and image-content requirements.)

In addition to helping you further personalize your G9 mouse, Logitech's grip presents a new shape. Providing exceptional palm and wrist support, the broad-shaped grip is designed for extended gameplay, and can make even those gamers with large hands feel comfortable. In addition, a soft-touch side grip offers a comfortable texture that feels good during short gaming sessions and epic battles. Easy to snap on to the G9 Laser Mouse, the ID Grip can be attached or detached with the push of a button.

Pricing and Availability
Available only in the U.S., the Logitech G9 Laser Mouse ID Grip is available to order online at www.logitech.com/IDGrip beginning today for a suggested retail price of $19.99 (U.S.).

I agree. They need to make mouses similar to my mouse (MX 518) then I'd probably consider buying another Logitech Mouse. One of their other newer mouses was ugly too.

At least you can print your own image on it. I can see businesses taking advantage of this.

The only place that could look OK is if a gaming clan had a logo and they put it (with a black background) on to the mouse but other than that :S

Yes, just goes to shows Logitec mice are overpriced... because they are paying salaries to idiots that design and market products like this.

And can you imagine how uncomfortable a "square" mouse is, with those plastic edges cutting into your palms, and it will probably wobble and squeek and BREAK when you try to change the "COOL PICTURE".

Hey, now here's an idea for idiots in the office. If you cant remember your login and password, print it out and stick it "in" the mouse. LOL

FFS, this is the ugliest and stupidest thing I've seen in 2008. Perhaps they *will* in a design award! Like the Darwin award for product design.

The image isn't an insert, you custom order the grip with the image printed on it.

Well, I actually love this mouse. My only problem was the wide-load grip was a little short, but now that this grip is more palm focused that won't be a problem. I probably put my gamer ID picture on it, thats probably what a lot of gamers with G9s will do...

The G9 is a kickass mouse. it pwnz. it is in NOT unconfortable in ANY way. and ive owned a G9 for 6 months now, still holding up perfectly.

but WTF i dont want to put some stupid fucking gay graphic on the back of my mouse! WTF.

Can i buy the grip, w/ a gritty feel like the precision grip, w/o the gay logo?

No thanks though, because that grip is just a hybrid between a wideload grip and a precision grip.

fuckkkk that.

Just imagine how much dirt will build up in those cracks (seems between the click-on plastic cover) over a few months. Yuk. So either you live with it gunky and dirty, yuk, or you unclip it and have to clean it every few months. And the plastic snap on will fatigue and warm making it very unconfortable before you pull it off again and it will break. :banghead:

I would be interested to see the PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE of the people that buy this ugly mofo.

Haha right? But the way I understand it is that it's a custom process, not a do it yourself.

If it was an insert then I could see it being more flexible as a product.

The fact that it's custom is pretty cool since it'll be higher quality and not look cheap, but they'll over-charge for it . . . and that mouse is already way too expensive by itself. They should offer custom colors on the whole mouse for what they charge.

This is the best mouse money can buy. I think they added this for ppl that like to draw skeletons on their case and as they stated 65% of ppl want it so they give it.
This mouse isnt expensive. I used to like the MX styled mouses but I got this free from Logitech as a replacement for faulty G5. After maybe a week I would never go back to the MX. Its quality and Logitech support is well worth the cash they want for it. Basicly I havent even payed a penny to that G9 and I bought the G5 in like 2005? Great support!

Some prefer A4tech and flaming expensive mouses around the internet others rather pay 6x the price and have a pwnage fast mouse :)
