AMD Slashes the Price of ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 Down to $449
Advanced Micro Devices has slashed the manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of its ATI flagship graphics board, X-bit Labs reports. The new prices come as no surprise to everyone, now that NVIDIA has launched GeForce GTX 295, ATI has to withstand its position, so slashing the prices of ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 is the first logical move. From now on, ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 with 2GB GDDR5 costs $449, down $100 from the previous price of $549. Moreover, some partners of ATI such as Newegg now offer $50 mail-in rebate for select Radeon HD 4870 X2 models, which immediately precalculates the card's price down to $399. If you're looking for a cheap ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 dual-GPU monster, now is the time.

Thats... US$371.25?
Considering the perf. difference you pay from a 4870x2 to gtx295 and you've got a winner :) , yeah baby , kill them with absurd low prices in their view.
You can understand XFX for integrating ati now , how much do they have to suffer before Nvidia launches a more profitable design ?

and that is usually the responsibility of the motherboard makers to provide them, otherwise they would be breaking antitrust policies if they dont provide them
can someone dig a little deeper at this subject because i think that is whats causing alot of problems for the average joes around here. ya everyone should but there are still too many that want to see the underdog fail (monopoly supporters:shadedshu)
