AMD Stockholders Approve New Semiconductor Manufacturing Company

AMD today announced that its stockholders approved a proposal to issue common stock and warrants to an affiliate of Mubadala Development Company PJSC, paving the way for AMD and the Advanced Technology Investment Company of Abu Dhabi to create "The Foundry Company".
With the stockholder approval received today, all closing conditions for the creation of "The Foundry Company" manufacturing joint venture have been met, and the transaction is expected to close by March 2, 2009.
AMD stockholders approved a proposal to issue 58 million shares of the company's common stock and warrants to purchase 35 million shares of its common stock and 35 million shares of the company's common stock upon exercise of those warrants to an affiliate of the Mubadala Development Company PJSC, on the terms described in the proxy statement related to the Special Meeting of Stockholders that was held today in Austin, Texas.

About The Foundry Company

no kidding, off topic, but i was just thinking today about things made in the US. There is/was this fluorescent light above our kitchen sink, literally lasted like 20 years (not like 24/7) Anyways, HOW MANY THINGS LAST THAT LONG ANYMORE?? seriously, with everything being made in China, we have just become accustomed to out things dieing in a couple years.... sad...

Our oven lasted 6 years and died a few days ago and was made in germany I believe. Just because some things are made in china doesn't mean they don't last as long as anywhere else.

Also what a boring name ... the foundry company

Wait ??? no one knew about this prior to now? there was a crap ton of news about this when it was first started, and it was called the foundry company, i didn't realize it wasn't official at the time. I like the name, considering what they do, and what they are, which is a semiconductor, so "the foundry" company is very fitting. The problem with chinese things is that they are almost always reverse engineered, and poorly so, then they are made by people who could care less about their name, and finally, there is NO quality control.
