Rockstar Games Announces Max Payne 3 for Winter 2009

Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is proud to announce that Max Payne 3 is currently in development and scheduled for a winter 2009 release on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and PC. Developed by Rockstar Vancouver, Max Payne 3 tells the story of a retired police detective embroiled in a world of corruption, turmoil and intense violence.

The award-winning Max Payne franchise put players in the role of Max Payne, a hard-boiled New York City detective with a penchant for violence, out to avenge the death of his family. The latest installment delivers more of the classic elements and hyper-intense action that fans have come to love, while moving the story of Max in a new direction.
"We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

Since leaving the NYPD and New York itself behind, Max has drifted from bad to worse. Double-crossed and a long way from home, Max is now trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed, using his weapons and instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out.

Max Payne 3 will be available in winter 2009 for Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 and PC. For more information, visit this page.

Ah. Remedy Entertainment made it but Rockstar published it. Rockstar must have purchased the rights somewhere between Max Payne 1 and 2. It is very odd how they put it on the back burner for so long. Even more odd is they made a movie long before reviving the game.

Remedy Entertainment has been working on Alan Wake for some 6 years now. :O

How about rockstar rehabs gta4 so it's at least playable on PC. Morons are pissing off their real fan base (yeah that's right, console owners suck :P). I can't even play gta4 with medium settings. 20 fps is not awesome, which is what I see on ps3, RR360 and my machine.

How is it that the Consoles suck when the game isn't even playable on PC?.

Have you tried w/ the 1.0.2 patch? It's pretty smooth for me, smoothed out all the jaggies as well.

It's not playable on console, either... It's as jumpy as an ADD kid on crack drinking black coffee.

Patch installed. All I did was turn up the distances crap a little. Nowhere near even halfway. <del>1920x1200</del> 1280x720 is the res, slider bars are in the 20s and lower. I can play every other game at high fps at that res plus maxed out...hmmm.....

Still more playable then the PC version tho, its like a slideshow if you dont have some good hardware, the Console versions do have there glitches and slowdowns but not near what the PC is crapin out.

Yeah 1920x1200 isn't helping you, nor is the x2 and possibly sli is giving you problems too. I get 30fps pretty steadily w/ view, shadow and traffic density halfway (traffic actually about 3/4, view distance like 38), render quality on very high and of course textures on medium (being that I only have 512mb). Best looking GTA I've played so I'm not really going to complain, although it could look and perform a bit better. I know you aren't maxing Crysis w/ those specs so.....

I played both crysis on high at 1280x1024, no probs at all (not high res but only one card). FEAR 2 is maxed out (1920x1200) and is butta

edited my other post, checked the settings and yeah, it's all on medium and the slider bars are pretty low. It's about as smooth now as rr360 - TOTALLY unplayable.

Keep in mind, I game at 60 fps (vsync and higher refresh with CRTs). Anything lower is horrendous and I will not tolerate it.

Wow I'm thankful I'm not as picky as you, I can't tell the difference b/t 30 and 60fps most of the time. Sometimes, but I certainly wouldn't uninstall a good game for it. FPS has never bothered me, so long as it's not jerky I'm a happy camper, I can't imagine why anyone would have developed such an intolerance for 30fps (considering where gaming was a few years ago, although I suppose if your new). Fear 2 isn't as massive or as pretty as GTA IV, and GTA would run maxed at 1280x1024 too.

I loaded it again to look at it, I was disgusted. I've seen games years older look better. The lack of AA really kills it (of course that would really kill perf haha).

Oh well rockstar, no cash for you.

W/ patch 1.0.2 most of the jaggies are smoothed out at 1680x1050, I can only imagine at 1920x1200 they would be even smoother. I can only assume that you didn't install that patch, which yes before that patch it looked atrocious.

1280x720 to increase fps and it's still terrible, yes patch is installed, although i see they released 1.3, not that it's going to give me 20 fps. Vsync doesn't help, but the newer nvidia drivers have been doing pretty good.

The story in max payne 1 and 2 are boring, even tho part 1 was ok to most of the time. But the gameplay always is great
