The VIA C3 Processor 1.0A was a desktop processor with 1 core, launched in June 2002. It is part of the C3 lineup, using the Ezra-T (C5N) architecture with Socket 370. C3 Processor 1.0A has 64 KB of L2 cache and operates at 1000 MHz. VIA is building the C3 Processor 1.0A on a 130 nm production process using 16 million transistors. The silicon die of the chip is not fabricated at VIA, but at the foundry of TSMC. The multiplier is locked on C3 Processor 1.0A, which limits its overclocking capabilities. With a TDP of 10 W, the C3 Processor 1.0A consumes very little energy. Actual memory technology support depends on the chosen motherboard, because the memory controller is located on the motherboard (not in the processor). For communication with other components in the system, C3 Processor 1.0A uses a PCI-Express N/A connection. Although the processor doesn't come with integrated graphics, certain motherboards with compatible chipsets can provide this capability. A lot of games will not work on this processor, because they require the SSE instruction set, which is not supported.
