The Intel Pentium Silver N5000 was a mobile processor with 4 cores, launched in December 2017, at an MSRP of $161. It is part of the Pentium lineup, using the Goldmont Plus architecture with BGA 1090. Pentium Silver N5000 has 4 MB of L2 cache and operates at 1100 MHz by default, but can boost up to 2.7 GHz, depending on the workload. Intel is building the Pentium Silver N5000 on a 14 nm production process, the transistor count is unknown. The multiplier is locked on Pentium Silver N5000, which limits its overclocking capabilities. With a TDP of 6 W, the Pentium Silver N5000 consumes extremely little energy. Intel's processor supports DDR4 memory with a dual-channel interface. The highest officially supported memory speed is 2400 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. For communication with other components in the system, Pentium Silver N5000 uses a PCI-Express Gen 2 connection. This processor features the UHD Graphics 605 integrated graphics solution. Hardware virtualization is available on the Pentium Silver N5000, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Additionally, IOMMU virtualization (PCI passthrough) is supported, so that guest virtual machines may directly use host hardware.
