430.39 basic install (display, Physics, HD audio), I noticed in the unpacked driver a few folders removed. (DisplayDriverCrashAnalyzer, NV3DVision, NV3DVisionUSB.Driver), seems on last two 3d vision has been dropped.
After install noticed a new folder C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\DisplayDriverRAS with the content of DisplayDriverRAS.dll but no errors or CPU usage so seem ok.
Will check a few games and see if anything pops up, quick Heaven run seems fine.

I'd guess "RAS" is related to WDDM 2.6 "Collect Diagnostic Info". https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...ay-drivers--wddm-2-0-#collect-diagnostic-info

Yes, that could be a WDDM 2.6 thing, I noticed this log on C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA\NvContainerRecoveryNvTelemetryContainer.log

Create recovery registry file \NvContainerRecoveryNvTelemetryContainer.reg
Import \NvContainerRecoveryNvTelemetryContainer.reg in registry
Starting service NvTelemetryContainer
System error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied.

Prepare rollback registry file \NvContainerRecoveryNvTelemetryContainer.reg
Import \NvContainerRecoveryNvTelemetryContainer.reg in registry

That might be totally normal with telemetry unchecked in setup and with no telemetry service, I didn't check on last driver (same setup options).

Any chance you still have telemetry around from last driver install?

nope, that log was dated today and I have been using your tool with basic install since it came out.
No services or task scheduler at all for Nvidia (other than container service)

Sadly I haven't checked the logs before in a long time, only checked things well this time as I saw reports of high CPU usage and other issues with telemetry, so I thought there might be issue with changes in this driver, but so far all seem good.

If I am understanding the log, that seems ok as you don't want a exe pointer in reg to a service not installed.

Edit: checked reg and there is an NVIDIA Telemetry Container service entry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\FirstBoot\Services\NvTelemetryContainer but nothing shows in services or autoruns>services so who knows how old that is, I am not sure Nvidia installer clean options cleans these values, which I use most times.

Ahh, sorry that log is not right, it was from a year ago, I must be blind, all other logs were new, so forget that post.

Thanks! One suggestion, before NVCleanstall downloads a driver, check to see if it should get the DCH or the Standard version, as the nvidia installer will fail on mismatching versions.

I have the DCH version on my system, so I must first download those manually and choose "User driver files on disk".

Cheers!

The NV GFX 1050Ti had been installed about couple of years ego. The software installation had been very limited, basically just the drivers and what could not be removed, to prevent all of the bloat from spreading on the system. I don't recall that there had been any updates to the drivers, that are working well. The 430.64 version has number of security fixes and need to be added to the system.

This is the only nvidia card that I manage and need some help to install the latest drivers, some questions...

Do I need to uninstall what the system has now, via the control panel, prior to using the NVCleaninstall?

If I do, the next step is to run NVCleaninstall and select just the driver(s) and whatever installs by default, correct? Is there any other software that should be added?

The system has its own sound card with good speakers and the video card is driving a 40" Samsung UHD TV via the HDMI interface. This is a business system, no gaming, graphics, or any other video intensive application. The most resource hungry software is probably YouTube, that this system will face.

TIA...

Start NVCleanstall -> Select just the top most component entry (display driver) -> start the NVIDIA installer -> "clean installation" in the nvidia installer window -> finished

I did get confused for a second with the NVIDIA installer. The initial install Windows has the "Express setup" selected by default, no "clean installation" option in the first screen. Selecting "Custom install" and click on "Next" revealed the "clean installation" option. Yes, people like me freeze at times when following directions... :)

Other that that, the installation of the driver was flawless. There was couple of flickering of the screen, NVIDIA installer completed and did not ask for reboot. This little program is awesome, thanks W1zzard!

One thing I've noticed with the new driver, that may have existed with the old driver but I paid no attention to it.

The GPU 3D performance bounces between 3-35% pretty much all the times, at times it tops out at 100%:

122686

Is this normal vith NVIDIA cards?

Again, thanks W1zzard for this little program...

The flashing of the screen is totally normal, it is removing driver then installing drivers so the black screen for split second is there.
On usage, the clocks can be very dynamic depending on the card and what apps are using GPU, like modern browsers by default
You can check that in Task-manager to under GPU% (you might have to add that column, to add right click on the header).

ah, hehe, i forgot about "custom", i must have installed the drivers hundreds of times, so clicking "custom" is automatic i guess.

bounces between 3-35%
yeah, the windows desktop and all its windows are gpu accelerated, so if some window draws on screen, it will cause gpu activity

first tab in task manager shows which process causes gpu activity

Thanks Guys/Gals...

Makes me wonder... If you leave the default "Express setup" selected and clixk "Next", would the NVInstall still limit what will be installed? Just curious...

The GPU temperature seems high to me, with no fan running, the coulombs are "Current/Min/Max":

122687

The system in itself is not hot at all, at ambient temperature of 71 degree Fahrenheit:

122688

Again, this is a business PC and the fan probably never kicks in. Is there a way to adjust the fan to kick in earlier?

TIA...

PS: How about naming this little program NVNB, or NVNoBloat?

Yes, the NVIDIA installer simply doesn't see the other packages because NVCleanstall removed them. It won't do the clean uninstall first though

hello NoBloat

I just registered on this forum specifically to ask U where U took such nice screens from? which soft is it that gives U such detailed info on Ur graph card? can U modulate/change any values of Ur card or is it only info?

I'd appreciate a reply -- thanx in advance
HWMonitor: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
It's read-only

Also check out GPU-Z (which I make). It has more GPU sensors, but fewer CPU sensors

thanx a lot for the reply -- I knew the screens looked kinda familiar as Id used hwmonitor or hwinfo in the past...
I do know GPU-Z and Ive been using it -- another great soft so lemme use this moment to thank you for making and updating it

so is there now any soft that allows for some change in the values of CPU or GPU fans [apart from those specifically made by cards producers -- somehow Im not totally happy with them]? there used to be a great one [at least IMHO] speedfan and ofc it still works but it doesnt handle new hardware very well as it hasnt been updated for quite some time

430.86 works fine, did have an issue with start menu but since it is the first time ever happened it probably a windows issue (easy fix just had to restart process StartMenuExperienceHost.exe ).

Build in first post updated, please test and confirm it's working

- Uses new API endpoints, old ones will stop working in the near future
- Added proper app icon (anyone got suggestions for improvement?)
- Added DCH drivers to download database
- Added readout whether DCH driver is installed
- Added readout whether OS is 32-bit or 64-bit
- Fixed crash when selecting an unknown component
- Added description for NVPCF component

Tested on 430.97, extracted the driver, pointed NVcleanstall to setup and ran min driver (core, PhysX and HD audio).
All installed fine and runs well.
No issue came up.
