I'm looking forward to the expansion, and seeing if they will pickup the story from the ending and how the story will continue depending on the different choices the player had for the ending; I also eventually want to replay the game and try for the solo ending, I missed the prerequisites for it in my first playthrough.
Same here. As much as I enjoyed the game, the ending felt a bit meh. To be precise, not the ending itself, but the way the game drops you back to the time before the last mission once you've finished everything. I was left with 2 side quests that I didn't have the required level to complete. When I gained the XP needed in the last mission, I would have been happy to go back to those 2 quests, but even my character was reset to the point before the last mission, so I had no chance. I'm definitely not gonna grind with random gang fights, as I always play for the story and atmosphere. XP accumulation for its own sake has no meaning to me.

I should mention - I'm not this sub-forum's moderator so all I can do is reply ban and give out points.

I think we've covered the discussions about bugs. Go back and read through if you've not caught up.

But please, game discussion. You know, about the gameplay etc.

Very, very weak. I'd much rather see the invitation to expand upon why people think what they think. But now, anyone playing the game is unable to talk about it, because others might have said something about it on the 70!! pages prior to this post. I don't get it.

My two cents:

I disagree with closing a thread just because the conversation has gone in a direction undesirable for some members (myself included).

I also disagree with crapping all over a game that has already been crapped all over, by people who have never actually played it, just watched videos on youtube and think that they know everything they need to know. I know crapping all over Intel/nvidia/CDPR is quite fashionable, but I wouldn't mind if people educated themselves on the topic, played the game a little bit and gained first-hand experience before forming an opinion. I have no desire to follow a game discussion thread just to read "ahh, the gaem is soooo craaaap, it has buuuugs" 3598735 times over.

On the other hand, closing threads for such reasons only gives way to the death of educated human conversation. Therefore I think it should be left open.

Why do you think that? I think we all acknowledge the flaws of the game. What differs is how much you let yourself be distracted by these flaws, and how much you focus on the positive aspects while playing.

I agree with that. The problem (in my opinion) is when people with zero seconds of play time try to "educate" active players on how bad the game is just because they watched a couple of videos about isolated bugs.

In fairness to the Staff, they're just trying to rope in the nonsense and keep things civil. And what we normal users do not see is all the reports they get from various users complaining, whether justly or not, about the conversations taking place. Being a moderator myself elsewhere, trust me when I tell you: It gets old real fast, gets on the nerves, tries the patience of even the most calm-tempered person and makes us want to close a thread to shut everyone up, regardless of who is right or wrong. I've done this myself.

I think the mods have been very patient and understanding in this thread, perhaps because no one has been making personal insults or pot-shots. Everyone has been keeping the arguments focused on the game aspects themselves, which is actually kinda cool if you think about how things sometimes go.

So when they(mods), very nicely, direct us all to stop with the back and forth about certain game flaws, it's because it's been hashed out. I also suspect that many of those same staff have played this game and know first hand that the complaints concerning flaws are without merit, either because they were fixed in the early patches or because they are flat out nonsense.

This is my 2 cents..

As an outside observer who has played the game, it's pretty clear a thread that was created to discuss the game in the normal way 'fans' support a game, has been hijacked by people whose aim is to focus on one factor.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say, the purpose of the thread has been bulldozed by that constant back and forth about bugs. And for those that might want to add something other, their comments just get swamped by constant negativity.

As the OP you have certain rights. I'll happily draw a line and ask that all conversation going forward from here is a constructive critique or discussion of gameplay, scenarios, or other themes that you'd expect in a thread about a game that folk enjoy playing (regardless of bugs) and would like to discuss.

No, I do not wish to have the thread closed, as I said. It does get wearisome however, to constantly see some of the same people who have either not played or have only played a bit go on and on about bugs and unplayabiliand brokenness. Certainly there should be discussion about all aspects, though.

No game is perfect. Even those who are ardent fans and proponents of a game can acknowledge flaws. I know @Vayra86 and I have this discussion sometimes that I may be too much of a game fan sometimes and I think he can be not accepting enough, but we can both agree that a game can be fun while still having problems. That’s the middle ground some of the ardent detractors seemingly bent on hijacking the thread fail to acknowledge. The two do not exclude each other.

Went back to this the other day because I was bored and wanted to see what Patch 1.3 had to offer for myself.
Was quite happy to see the map while driving was fixed. That was a huge PITA.

Was disappointed to see that the Legendary Ping quickhack's passive effect was changed from the ability to hack through walls to the ability to hack devices through walls (not people anymore).
Certainly a warranted balance change, as the netrunner build I was using was extremely overpowered.

Unfortunately, I just couldn't get back into the game. Drove around for about 15 minutes but got bored after doing one side quest. I've gotten my money's worth for sure, but I'll probably not pick it up again for quite a while. Just doesn't have a ton of replay value. Maybe the first major story-DLC will bring me back.

well... if you're watching on a 1080p screen, you literally cant see the extra detail

That said, my game looks better than what they posted... dunno why they think thats good.

I'd like to say wow that looks great but it really doesn't look any better than what I see on my measelly 1080p screen

But... RTX ON man. It just works, so shut up and say its better pls. Also: 4K. And DLSS totally removed the stutter and low FPS there, did you not notice? I didn't :D

Never mind the gameplay either. Slow drives through the countryside and walking in a city with lifeless NPCs is very 2021.

Do you live in or near a big city? I challenge you to walk down its main street, and find more interaction with strangers than there is in CP77. :p

Went back to this the other day because I was bored and wanted to see what Patch 1.3 had to offer for myself.
Was quite happy to see the map while driving was fixed. That was a huge PITA.

Was disappointed to see that the Legendary Ping quickhack's passive effect was changed from the ability to hack through walls to the ability to hack devices through walls (not people anymore).
Certainly a warranted balance change, as the netrunner build I was using was extremely overpowered.

Unfortunately, I just couldn't get back into the game. Drove around for about 15 minutes but got bored after doing one side quest. I've gotten my money's worth for sure, but I'll probably not pick it up again for quite a while. Just doesn't have a ton of replay value. Maybe the first major story-DLC will bring me back.
Exactly my reaction. I haven't played the game for months and now I know exactly why. It's not the bugs, which for me are far and few, but the lack of MISSION. I don't feel a sense of purpose or urgency and the story hasn't seeped into my mind one iota.
For comparison, you pick up games like Far Cry, TR, Crysis, heck most fps games and you get a sense of purpose almost straight away. I don't get any of that with 2077, so it's back on the shelf again for the next six months or so.

I do, and every time I see yellow exclamation marks everywhere ! No but seriously. Interaction is more than talking - interactivity is more than clicking X for dialogue. But even being asked for a coin here or there... :p That's already one crucial element that's missing and I'd expect to be especially common in Night City.

Here's a game from nearly 15 years back doing it better - not even talking. Just interactivity. The idea you're part of the environment, you know. Cba to find gameplay videos and timestamp them, but they exist, and its interesting to see all the minor differences, at some point it just hits you how little CBP offers that way.


Its about creating gameplay loops just simply out of the world you're using. AC nailed that. You could just casually stroll through the city and you would always end up in some form of event. In AC1, those weren't all map markers either. It was just emergent gameplay as they say. You see a few soldiers harassing a girl, you can interfere or you can let it pass - that sort of stuff. And from one thing comes another. Next you find yourself getting chased through small alleys, you find a hiding spot, you wait, and you're back doing what you want.

Night City hasn't got that, and even when it does, the gameplay loop always ends with overpowered police killing you in one shot. Its clear 'this was not how you are meant to play', which, in an open world, is strange. Compare it also to 5 star Wanted in GTA! Same penalties apply, overpowered police coming in to seal the deal as you went waaay too far... but its a game in its own right.

I think this sense of purposelessness is exactly what the game is about. It's a satire of modern society and purposelessness in real life. Though I have to agree that it doesn't add much to the replay value of the game.

'The world is fucked up and boring, enjoy all the content we didnt make'... mhm. Sure. Also... purposelessness isn't exactly what is driving V or his arch enemies, you even get to choose on it... so where does that fit in?

And even more on that philosophy... if there is no purpose, why would people be in conflict? Why would they not aspire to find purpose? Those are all angles to create content on. Even todays' modern society is full of purpose, however silly, backwards or insignificant it might be. Dunno... the theory just doesn't work for me.

Point taken and as you say, the lack of purpose doesn't translate well into an interactive experience, at least for me.

What random event did you find in AC1? :eek: I've finished the game multiple times, and didn't encounter any. In fact, if not for the map, I would have totally got lost in big cities, as every street and every corner looked like the rest of them. It's still a great game, though.

The later AC games are the total opposite. Ubisoft scattered the world so full of random events that you get lost trying to find the main quest, which is also a bad thing, imo.

What random event did you find in AC1? :eek: I've finished the game multiple times, and didn't encounter any. In fact, if not for the map, I would have totally got lost in big cities, as every street and every corner looked like the rest of them. It's still a great game, though.

The later AC games are the total opposite. Ubisoft scattered the world so full of random events that you get lost trying to find the main quest, which is also a bad thing, imo.

In AC1? I think you really have to take the time to enjoy all those big cities ;) The only difference is that there's no icon for them every time - nor a dopamine powered reward loop. And some are just for sightseeing, too. Did you stop to listen to the town criers, for example? Or one of the many conversations between people talking about events, and how these locations are actually present in the city somewhere? The guards harassing people on the street? The fact you can steal items from anyone in the population, which may or may not lead to you being discovered with consequences? And you're not the only thief either - others do it too. And yes, they get chased by a real other NPC, and you can interfere. People carrying crates can drop them and get annoyed. Templars around the world will challenge you. Outside cities, its entirely your choice if you engage those patrols or try to sneak past. Its all those little things. And then there is the response of NPCs when you start screwing around with them more actively. You always have some chance of escaping, but if you take too long or get backed into a corner, you can end up with a bad day. Also, but I might recall incorrectly from a later installment, in AC1 you could already recruit small gangs to wait for you and lay an ambush. I believe it also had environment you could use to escape and slow down your enemies beyond diving into hay - collapsing shops for example.

And none of that stuff is bugging out or anything. These interactions between people make the world feel alive, and the fact the game has an excellent body physics engine on top seals the deal for immersion. Every little push or shove nets an NPC response, even as subtle as them turning their head to look at you.

Listening to criers isn't exactly useful or interesting. :D But I give you that, there's quite a bit of conversation going on among NPCs.

All in all, AC1 is a great game. All I'm saying is that NPC interactions in it don't feel a lot more meaningful to me than in CP77. Just because they drop the crates they're carrying, it doesn't mean they're any less anonymous than walkers-by of Night City. That's just my opinion, though. :)

Alright, then I guess we have a different take on what immersion in a game can be all about :) Maybe the difference in AC is that even if the position is fixed (it certainly isn't for all the examples I've mentioned there) is that there is no icon guiding you there, saying 'do this thing'. You're right about the gang fights in CBP btw. Forgot about them. But still. Icons. Icons. Icons. If they're not on the map, they're on screen.

Its for most of the same reasons I came to enjoy Baldur's Gate 2's city as well. Even just the background noise of each area. The attention to detail. And yes, the random conversations that aren't quite so random when you walk by them the hundreth time. They still do the work.

As for qualifying useful or interesting... again, different take on immersion I think. Did you actually stop to listen and interpret what was spoken? And how many tongue in cheek stuff there was, how in fact the whole game is one big middle finger to religious zealotry all over the place? How people realise they're being used by it? Etc. Its really on another level, and one of Ubisoft's strongest statements ever. And note that the big bad organization you're stuck with has direct ties (even an actual level) and exists in recent days, while even from the first moment they smell power, the failure of Man shines through, in greed and everything else the deity they serve would forbid them.
