What's your latest tech purchase?

Hmm maybe not as I'm currently running a RX6800 (non XT) but we'll see once I get it in an up and running

RTX4070 Super. Seriously, if that would have been out when I got my 6950XT I would have gotten that instead. I really wouldn't bother going from a 6800 to a 7800XT unless the price was really good and I managed to sell my 6800 for a good buck.

stuff arrived. My parents sent me over my arduino which i got in 2014(yes 10 years back lol). Already making progress on my plant watering kit :D

Cheapo Corsair stock fan from an AIO to feed GPU. Not a fan of Corsair in general and finding that they glued a hard plastic plug into the lube port only deepened this feeling.
NFG dirt chisel that will run full speed during gaming sessions until it dies.

13-144-487-V80.jpgThis is coming tomorrow. Picked it up for a$100US on eBay. I gotta say this thing has some funky pcie slot lanes/slot config. Glad I only need two of the slots, but the second one is from the chipset :(. 12600kf arrived today from Amazon. The bracket for the h2o block comes Friday and I hope it works... Ill be adding my waterblocked Optane 900p and Gskill Ripjaws 3600/4000/ and TridentZ bdie for testing.

The updated system core in my specs (MB, CPU, and RAM) I was able to get with a great bundle deal and discount at Microcenter.

Amazing how cheap the X3D chip is in your country, where I am that would be doubled + retailers markup on top of that!

Also did some phone upgrading on my end.:) 'Upgrading from a 3 years old Realme 8 4G 6/128 which still works just fine for everyday use I just wanted something faster cause reasons'
As usual I was on a budget and since I've had a positive experience with Xiaomi in the past with multiple different devices + my family also had/has products from them I've ended up picking this:

Yep I did go with the yellow eco leather back version cause I'm kinda tired of the same ol black phones and my father sometimes confuses my phone with his when I leave it in the kitchen, this I guess he wont be confusing with anymore. 'I will be using it in a transparent-ish case'
PXL_20240815_112014279.jpg
Main reason for this was the performance, in the past years I've picked up mobile gaming a bit and this is the fastest phone in my budget range and its capable of running any mobile game currently with decent settings.
Rest of the phone is kinda average-ish but thats fine with me casue I pretty much never record videos and only take casual pics to show my family or friends/post on this forum and that much this can do. 'It does have a good display tho'
So ye hopefully this will last me a good few years like my previous budget phones.:) 'paid ~300 $ for it delivered to my place for free since I've had a coupon, bought from a trusted etailer in my country with warranty and its the global version so no weird stuff'

This feels like the multitude of weird pix I see on AliEx. So is the connector split into usb-c and spdif or are these 2 separate cables?
I believe it converts between USB-C & SP/DIF, and likely comes with an attached USB-C lead and a loose SP/DIF cable.

Two new "tech" items, one is a Hearing aid i've had for a week now (yes I'm old), the other is a thermal camera that arrived today and attaches to my Android phone.

Changed my mind, found a better one.

MSI B450M-A PRO MAX.

Yeh if the 4070 Super was the same price I would have gone for it but nope $1400 vs $896 for the RX7800Xt no brainer and my 6800 will be reused in another PC along with my old AM4 mobo cpu and ram

last pieces of the AM5 puzzle.

I threw in the contact frame because the MSI sports an 6 layer PCB instead of 8 like the tomahawk.

My board came yesterday! CPU installed, but my XSPC backplate of course didnt fit. I ordered a replacement, but modified a backplate I had laying around with bolts and nuts I had. My ADHD kicks in and I have no patience for deliveries, lol. I havent had much time to experiment with it yet, but I did get 6 cores to 5.5hz (no HT or eCores enabled). Temps never went over 60C during benching. 2x 360 radiators in the build. When I get more time, Ill post some numbers.

The 1 euro 5.25 inch USB-A&C arrived, installed and works nicely. Only 1 tiny little annoying thing is the red led which bleeds through the right port. Oh well.

Oh, nice dust spots, mister flash.

Also this tiny thing arrived; a vacuum pump. Not in the picture are the bags that came with it.

For preserving spools, food, and whatnot ;)
Oh and this weird box came too

I haven't tried it yet as my energy is gone.. Tomorrow is the day!

So the XSPC bracket came early, like today, oh well. At the moment its benching with 5.5ghz AC/4.0ghz no HT and finding it was actually faster with no E cores in some benches and temps are so good, like maxing in the 60-70C range, even with the Ecores. I may not need the bracket (Ill save it, I was planning to get a Heatkiller, but this is going better than expected).

I did get this today too. For my main rigs game drive. 10 bucks on Amazon. :)

Ill post some more complete numbers and a couple of the rigs this weekend some time.
