I think the primarily reason it's getting the remaster treatment is Sony just doesn't have very many first party games coming out and for 10 bucks they probably think PS5 owners who own the PS4 version will buy it.

But yeah deffo agree they likely want a filler due to lack of first party titles, I was just surprised as I am still waiting for ps2/ps3 remasters and remastering ps4 games seemed odd in comparison.

Meant for existing owners its a 10 usd upgrade.

Sounds like it may be the same on PC.

Yeah it kind of sucks, but often follows demand. Take Steam sales. I've recently seen games go on sale, and then a month later they will be in the summer sale for something like $8-10 more. They know that the summer sale is a big event and people will go shopping for games then and see the sale price and not realize it was cheaper 1 month before.

PS users will have an upgrade patch costing $10. PC is still to be seen, though.

There are unconfirmed suggestions pricing of remaster for new owners will remain the same US $49.99 on PC. Upgrade for existing owners we just need to wait and see what they announce.

I was just relaying the development they started removing original port from PC storefronts.

Remastering/remaking games that are barely a generation old is a sign of a dying industry.

Development costs have ballooned so much that "remastering" recent games will become commonplace, it's just cheaper. With the recent failures resulting in hundreds of millions down the drain like Concord and Skull and Bones studios will become far more risk averse, so get ready to pay for the same "remastered" games over and over for the foreseeable future. Not the time for new high budget games.

As long as they fix the current issues, the rest is well done and they release Horizon Forbidden West, I'd be ok paying an "upgrade" price of $10.

It's because gog ain't getting the remaster.... Jk I have no idea but wouldn't be surprised.

Download the offline installers on GOG version. Keep them saved on storage drive. It’s how I do all my GOG games. Keeps them safe from shenanigans and upgrades you don’t want. I don’t use Galaxy.

Luckily Steam does let you download specific builds of any game, and you can also get round any upgrades it tries to push. But of course yeah GOG is the cleanest distribution model.

I updated my steam version to the remastered one.... Will I download and play it probably not but I'm a huge fan of Nixxes and support their work.

I do hope they get do to their own game at some point or get to do a full of remake of an older Sony franchise at the very least.

Shameful admission: I missed picking this up in last GOG sale for $12.

Don't see myself paying $50 for either version. If first impressions of remaster visuals hold up that appears to be end of the road for any continued interests.

I see it as pretty weak seller even if you own it already and they give a massive discounted for that. the original isn't that old and still looks fine so no reason to buy a remaster with a small face lift.

It's 10 bucks..... on steam and I'd guess epic game store. If you own the original ofc.
