A 40% increase in perf / price is pretty wild though, let's hope amd brings anywhere near that.
Let's break the market issue down.
1- Who's trying to buy a new graphic card: mostly gamers who need an upgrade, assuming the vast majority are people with a card from two gen ago (Rtx 30x0 and prior / Radeon 6x00 and prior)
2- What's the landscape for gamers?
- Prior gen didn't go down in price:
- Nvidia RTX 4070 Super = cheapest is $737 on new egg
- AMD 7800 XT = $479.99
- New gen isn't available
3- People don't like FSR 3.1 because it doesn't look good, especially now compared to the new DLSS 4
So you're left with two options:
- You accept to feel like a giant green dildo got shoved up your a$$ and pay a minimum of $737 for an outdated, low-to-mid end graphic card from Nvidia
- You join the rebellion for the sake of dignity and wait March by praying the price will be right AND that FSR 4 will deliver
Personally, I can afford the $1300 for a 5080 if it was, in fact, available. But these games Nvidia is playing are so disrespectful towards its consumers that, as a small business owner who also has customers, I would be too ashamed to condone. It's like they forgot what their mission is; to cater to their customers. The disdain is just too much for me to ignore. If they had three or four competitors, they would never treat us like that, never.
So I will wait for the Radeon, and stick with my 2070 SUPER, which still runs Stalker 2 at about 60/70 FPS minimum with all settings at max in HD.
