The 4080S was last years card though. Sure you can compare it, but you can't call it a gen on gen.
Ada $1,000 vs Blackwell $1,000. That's pretty much what gen on gen is.

Of course it sold out. Nvidia themselves said there was gonna be a shortage of GPUs. How does acknowledging this fact make anyone an AMD fanboy? :kookoo:

Yeah, please reply about the guy's face instead of the content. Also ignore what I just said above completely. That will make you look super intelligent.

And still, the Jensen cock throaters cannot see through the myriad of Nvidia's ineptitude. Ban me for a month please before I really lose my shit.

AMD better not fuck this up. I am so sick of Nvidia doing nothing wrong for most of the population but those in the know see clearly that they are scamming assholes.

OPEN YOUR EYES YOU BLIND FUCKWITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No it isn't. Cause if a 5080s comes out you'll still be comparing it to the 4080s. Last gen nobody compared the 4090 to the 3090ti but to the 3090. People just cherry pick the comparisons they want based on the conclusion they want to reach.

Anyone getting hyped up by Moore's Law Is Dead frankly deserves to be dissapointed. how many times has this guy been wrong?
The only good thing about MLID is his interviews with people in the semiconductor industry which can be quite good. His speculation episodes with his brother are pure entertainment and nothing more than that.

The stock issues were pretty widely reported on (GN, HWUB, ect): https://gizmodo.com/rtx-5080-stock-shortage-2000556319

Your definition of AMD Fanboy seems to to be "anyone with a functioning brain".

All this does is perfectly illustrate why a product being "sold out" means essentially nothing, even in a "normal" launch scenario.

"Sold out" isn't a quantity indicator and gives you 0 information on how many sales there have actually been.

According to stock trackers, most models were never even were in stock to begin with and this demonstrates why using "sold out" in place of actual metrics is misleading. "Sold Out" doesn't even guarantee that a single product of that SKU sold, let alone the monumental success you seem to think those words means.

I did. Why wouldn't I have?

I'm not cherry picking. I'm comparing against everything that makes sense. The 4080 was an overpriced piece of trash. The 4080 Super offered pretty much the same for $200 less. I'd be stupid not to compare the 5080 to the better offer. Besides, the 4080 is long gone from store shelves. It's the 4080 Super that's being replaced now, not the 4080, so why would I compare to that?

Don't tell me that you're basing your comparison on model name alone. You're surely more intelligent than that.

I can't explain it any simpler. The super came out last year, that's not a generational comparison but a yearly one. Generational means what could I buy last generation (2023) vs what can I buy now (2025).

The only reason people aren't doing it in this case is because they don't want to admit we got a 40% performance / price increase within 1 gen.

Generation means Ada vs Blackwell. The year is irrelevant.

"Super" is NOT a refresh. It's the same generation with slightly more cores.

Doesn't help AMD anything at all on having 15% more performance here when AMD lacks all of the great features the NVIDIA GPU have. I would gladly have 10-15% lower performance in trade for the awesome features the NVIDIA GPUs comes with.

The awesome feature set is one of the reasons why NVIDIA sells like hot cakes.
Sells like hot cakes? WHERE?! The entire Microcenter chain in the US sold.... somewhere about 500 RTX 5080! Scarcity does not equal hot product.
