But in all seriousness of the OP, yes (I think) 8GB was a bit low on the 3070 and I do remember lots of threads/arguments of the 3080 with the supplied 10GB being an issue.

How is that 10GB going for any 3080 owners? Any issues yet?

Yet to lower textures at all, targeting 4k120, with the caveat I use DLSS where available because it shines at 4k and makes the game run better. I also tend to avoid day 1 purchases / pre-order and wait till performance and issues are a known quantity. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised and buy games in the launch week because the polish is there, that's rare.

incorrect, even on PS5 gameinformer or pcgamer, forget which one, said it has the same issues, where fps will drop to 10-15 fps for a solid tend seconds straight cause vram issues.

it's a badly coded game is what you mean to say. best to wait for several patches before playing. what a sad state the industry is in.

Im sticking to the proven practice of waiting a year + post release to see what games are really worthwhile, thats for sure. Also still enlisting some pirate aid now and then when in doubt... Its a fucking minefield

I always wait for complete editions for singleplayer games. Will play Cyberpunk once Wings of Liberty DLC is released. This approach ensures I get the full experience and benefit from all patches and DLC. In the case of Cyberpunk it's a completely different game from release now, different generation of rendering tech, etc. Same for games like Skyrim with special edition that was x64 and had issues fixed with mods etc. Don't know why some people feel the need to play everything on day one. I warned friends about day one, even year one Bethesda games, CD Project Red games, etc, but they always rush out and play it then get disappointed, drop it and never play again. Childish.

Not only that I agree, but actually, I can't even play games on day one. My backlog is too long. It takes me too long to finish a game with only 4-8 hours of play time per week.

Fine but it should not be necessary, your not going to be able to join in the hype two years later when most interested in CP2077 finished it a year ago.

And despite your tactics to mitigate the issue, it doesn't in any way reflect on the actual OP, IE use the copium methods you wish.

For a CPU and GPU heavy game though isn't memory bus contention an issue with the unified memory of the consoles? After all, everyone can't be accessing memory simultaneously.

Console devs are used to weird, tiered memory structure. Believe it or not, the XBONE's 8GB DDR3 and 32GB ESRAM was less messed up than previous consoles.
Wikipedia has the details somewhere but IIRC the XBXS's "slow" partition is almost as fast as the XBSS's fast partition, so it's not actually too bad.

I'm not 100% sure how the XBSX memory bus is arranged. There are 10 GDDR6 packages, and the fast partition is 320-bit so presumably that's 10 32-bit memory controllers.

If 6 of those packages are double-stacked, it means that the 6GB slow partition gets its own memory controllers, meaning the XBSX has a 512-bit bus in total, split 320/192 for fast/slow partitions respectively.

On the other hand if 6 of those packages are just double-density, then it means the XBSX is a 320-bit device and the slow partition competes with bandwidth for the fast partition. This seems less likely to me but I honestly don't know how it's done.
