Apparently, the pricing was a mistake by Google Translate (not linking directly to the bird site).

Yeah 700 is still far too much.

Place this thing at 600 and you have the mid range on lockdown. At 700 people will buy a 5080 or spend less to get a 5070.

Yes, given how the 7900 XT had to be discounted to match the slower 4070 Ti, even if the performance leaks are correct, and the 9070 XT matches or surpasses the 5070 Ti, it shouldn't be priced above $599.

applying some logic here:

the 9700 is around a 4070 ti super or a 7900xt right?
Amd cards devalue a lot when used
the 7900xt is going for around 550usd used now, 650usd new on newegg right now
not sure even that 600usd price tag would be a win

what a mess. the truth is probably somewhere halfway, ie. the current price is probably lower than what AMD have planned originally, seeing what nvidia will offer

also, they're are probably in a situation where they had to choose between "start selling the new cards right away at a lower price and loosing any remaining profits on the unsold previous gen cards" and "loosing the 1 month advantage against nvidia". but at this point, nobody at their right mind will buy current AMD cards for more money than they'll worth in a month time

Plus the dilemma between "sell the new cards now, without FSR4 (whilst DLSS4 is already out) ?" and "wait until FSR4 is ready in March (fingers crossed)".

do not feed the rumour mills as nothing of prices or whatever about an unreleased real post when they are not for sale and not being tested by real NORMAL people so influencers or all the massive earning money anywhere i really do not care about i want to see if the card will run my games flawless and might improve my current games
I learned my lessons you stop feeding the rumour mills with probably
The ones who got the card for testing are not allowed to show you how the card performs so leaks are useless
Even if they end up being real afterwards
Just stop the hype train and wait till we see honest people ( n ot getting money for whatever reason) show how good or bad the cards are.
I saw by a friend a Intel card and i must say even though it is not the caliber of my current gpu
But i was impressed that compared to a other a bit better AMD about all in the room looking at this so called no good card looked very nice and sharp.
Almost all agreed that it was impressive and especially the woman in the room was constant showing that they favored the Intel which might made use of the little extra memory on that card
In time if they go on like this they are gonna be a real competitor for the other brands, if they survive at all of course.
Yes it can not beat my current gpu in any way but that is another price point which is not a fair compair
So

They changed naming scheme because there already was a 9700xt or what? If they really are "completing" in the midrange only, they have no business pricing anything over $500 if it doesnt come within 10% of the 5070Ti.

they changed naming to match nvidia
they changed pricing to match nvidia
they are changing AI to match nvidia

AMD is just "we have nvidia at home"

I think when pitted against the 5070, its a win and that's what matters, the 7900XT will go EOL at some point and lacks better RT on top. And if people buy a second hand 7900XT, that's fine too, they ain't buying Nvidia. It would be nice if the 9070XT is a compelling replacement I agree, but for AMD's bottom line, its not that relevant, if the 7900XT is out of business soon.

Keep in mind Nvidia is stagnating too in this segment. The 5070 is a complete bunch of nothing.

The bad thing is that they don't give a them fack about the gamers.
Look at how the RX 7600 prices stagnated for years:

Gamers have made that situation by themselves for being impatient, gullible fools for several decades on end. We need to look in the mirror, or at least, a lot of gamers and especially older gaming 'enthusiasts' do. They've fueled this rocket. Its the exact same thing as gacha mechanics, lootbox, P2W and all that other jazz. Some of it we spat out, and is now almost nowhere to be found unless you tread in the gutter of the internets. Our voice matters, we just fail to unify that voice more often than not. And, not being able to see past silly marketing schemes is part of that 'gullible' deal. You can't expect everyone to know everything... but when they're being told and ignore it to favor the marketing reality... yeah. Fools & Money. That is the paradigm that made Nvidia what it is today, and Nvidia is now even playing the enterprise market like that with AI and previously crypto. 2.9 Trillion, before today, go figure.

they will lower price, and release a 5070 ti super and 5070 ti super duper, and they will outsell AMD 20/1 if the price is 600usd, want to bet?

And that is the situation of underdog AMD, indeed. Stuck between rock, lava, hard place and inevitable death. We can only pray they keep picking the hard place instead of death I guess.

can't we agree that they could and should have released sooner, cheaper and move on. They are their own worst enemy, 700usd and "we want market share" lol

I'm wondering if they can take advantage of the CUDA deficiencies for UDNA

They should have released sooner, but you can't if you keep following the market leader's every move and innovate based on that. This is AMD's strategic mistake. They keep following. On the console/APU front too. Its pretty bad when Sony or MS starts asking where your RT acceleration is at for their next product: you have them in the bag and still, you're not leading them forward EVEN with RT capable APIs and engines gaining traction. What the fuck!

This also shines some light on that supposed driver issue. Why is that shit not done. It was supposed to be done for RDNA3.

one thing that is obvious is that they don't even know or understand their customers, gamers or the console companies
idk if they don't care, no one is in charge, it's too hard, they can't be bothered, ...

Intel is in the dgpu for a couple of years and goes out of their way to return value like people asked and to solve every little complain
amd takes months, years and doesn't fix the smallest of things

amd: you want cheap gpus?
also amd: lalalalal i can hear you

Yeah, and all that in the very face of a development they DID carry forward themselves and made them insta- market leader on x86 CPUs, or at least, innovation leadership is theirs and the market share is slowly following. We could say it was RDNA3 that was supposed to be their Zen moment on GPU... but why then does it compare so badly

I can't see how AMD are a sovereign corporation at this point. Seems they're an NVIDIA's daughter company. 'least this would've made all sense of their latest daftness.

zen had those memory issues in the begging, if they just put their heads in the sand and let the months, years pass it would have end up the same. They worked hard to fix everything
and they sold the cpus cheap in comparison to intel, not intel -50usd, they never waited for intel prices
shit works almost flawless

lots of differences there

Yup. just look at the MBA RX 9070 XT card. That card is not looking like it's a $499 model like the RX 7800 XT. It a premium triple fan cooler with a nice shroud. Not some basic dual fan design. This card is designed with a much higher price point in mind than $499 or even $599...
Way closer to RX 7800 XT than to RX 7900 GRE "technically" and there are only 50$ gap between them. It's just overclocked out of the control like a RTX 5090

999? For a 5080? Haha, good one. Now I hope prices will go down, but the first stock is going to be over 1.6k for the cheap models.
For 15% improvements people really are out of their minds when it comes to nvidia hype job products.

No, people don't lose their minds when it comes to nvidia products and neither it's a 15% improvement. You are wrongfully assuming that people with a 4080 are going to upgrade to a 5080 which is highly unlikely.

They will cost 30% more for 15% performance increase :) Get over it. It doesn't matter what card they have used previously "that's nvidia level of brains"
