Apex does not stutter for me at all. works great. guess I can hope for cs2 to not have this issue
uploaded screenshots of optimized bios settings (platform throttle limit to 89°C (default: 90°C), pcie slot config to gen 4):

btw your board has 13 virtual Phases (10+3), 8 real Phases (5+3), PWM-Controller: RAA229004 (max. 8 Phases)

I think you have a good point here @Mussels .

I went from an Asus TUF Gaming B550M to an Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero X570. Back then I noticed an instant increase of around 1.500 points in CPU score in 3DMark, all other things being equal. Back then I was still using the 5800x.

I came here on this forum with stutter issues after upgrading to the 5800x3d, but after implementing the great tips tricks from over here, I have the smoothest gaming experience ever.

Relevant input for the topic here : I have Gsync monitor (hardware chip, not just Gsync compatible), turn off Vsync and implemented a FPS cap (in-game) just below my max FPS.

Works like a charm! Not a single stutter anymore. Movement is so fast and smooth, I made my gaming actually better, without a big increase in FPS.

What tricks did you implement out of curiosity?

just setup another system. there was stuttering too in resident evil 4 remake demo (i use this for benching and stability testing). now as soon as i turned off hpet in the bios the game ran butter smooth. as soon as i set bcdedit parameters useplatformclock yes, useplatformtick yes, disabledynamictick yes and tscsyncpolicy enhanced along with islc 0.5 timer the stuttering was back and it was impossible to shake the bugger off again. the idea behind this setting is to disable any dynamic software / synthetic timers and force static hardwaretimers even with hpet disabled because there is a "non-hpet timer", too. so on windows installation there are default parameters set to the timer(s) (clock, tick and tsc) or whatever it is. if you set manual ones with bcdedit something is changed to the extent that it cant be reverted likely until a reinstallation of windows. deleting (which is believed to revert to default state) or changing the values wont change anything. sucks big time. this may depend on cpu and board.

note: reinstalled windows with hpet off in bios and its butter again. so there is definitely a huge problem with these timers that depends on bios, os and app settings. if the timer gets messed with once the os is done for until reinstall. this is certainly the main cause for most cases of stuttering and should have been investigated and cleared up by devs and manufacturers a long time.

It's the part where I sum up the "relevant input for this topic":

"I have Gsync monitor (hardware chip, not just Gsync compatible), turned off Vsync and implemented a FPS cap (in-game) just below my max screen FPS."

My screen can do 165hz, so I capped in-game FPS to 160.

I forgot to mention one thing, though I'm not sure it's part of the solution. In a first attempt I have added a hardware tpm 2.0 chip to my MoBo. Never removed it since. But the chip only was definitely not the solution. The stutter issue was present until I changed the basic settings as described above.

If your mouse has a 1000Hz option, drop to 500Hz. Popped up a lot in some other threads, but no one really knows *why* yet.

Your 160FPS limit - are you sustaining it? Does the issue go away with Vsync off (but replaced with tearing?)

I have no complaints anymore Mussels, so I don't have to change things anymore :).

And yes, with my 4080 I sustain 160fps, and no tearing, how come you think that? I have Gsync, one of the great inventions..

I asked because it's relevant to stutter issues - and suggested a few things in case they're also relevant

Sometimes Gsync can go wrong too, but yes - a Gsync ultimate display with an FPS cap is going to be the best way to get a good experience

I was having SEVERE stuttering. I mean SEVERE stuttering where the mouse was getting stuck for half a second etc, which can be seen in the video here:

(particularly at 12 seconds in)

Anyway, I read your post, I own a Lamzu Atlantis OG and was running at 1000Hz, as one would do. I dropped it to 500Hz and lo and behold... it's working fine now... for the most part, I still feel like it's not absolutely smooth as I remember (haven't played CSGO in like 6 years) Is this a CSGO issue or is it an AM4 / 5800x3d issue? I'm really confused....

On my previous build (2600x, 1080Ti) with a Logitech GPW @ 1000hz I saw none of these issues.

CapframeX of the run at 1000Hz. The part where the insane stuttering happens doesn't appear to be very visible here, which is towards the end.

You guys are doing something wrong. Either wrong gear, geardown mode, 2T command, or something. 3600/14 should be in the region of 60ns.

3600/14 should not be higher latency than 3600/18.

https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/oc-guide/DDR4 OC Guide.md

Don't change settings you don't understand.

These are my settings, but you'll need to up your DRAM voltage to be stable.

Bit off topic but, having a teamgroup B-die pair (3600cl16), I've tried booting at 3800mhz (loaded XMP and changed freq) and it didn't post. I haven't OC'd ram in like 10 years, my gigabyte b550i aorus has an insane amount of settings pertaining this which makes it worse.

Is it better to not load XMP and start tweaking that way?

Increase voltage.

B Die is set and forget up to 1.6 V, more if you know what you're doing.

I forgot to add I did increase vdimm to 1.45 IIRC. XMP enabled, 3800, vdimm 1.45. Was told somewhere it could be the "3800" blackhole on am4s or 5800x3ds something like that, didn't try again cause cmos resetting this mobo is cumbersome

I reinstalled the game twice, reinstalled my windows, checked with another GPU and tried many launch options. Many more things but I can't remember as I try to fix this since 3-4 months now every now and then before I give up again. And it always "tabs out" of the game when it freezes, because I see my mouse on the second monitor for this second before the lag stops every 2-3 seconds

Idk if Im allowed to post links but this is how it looks like ingame for me:

Try decreasing the mouse polling frequency to 500Hz instead of 1000Hz and see if it helps.

Check my post and video above. It's almost as bad as yours, switching to 500hz polling rage fixed it

Try decreasing the mouse polling frequency to 500Hz instead of 1000Hz and see if it helps.

Check my post and video above. It's almost as bad as yours, switching to 500hz polling rage fixed it
I changed to 500Hz in Logitech G Hub but still the same sadly

I reinstalled the game twice, reinstalled my windows, checked with another GPU and tried many launch options. Many more things but I can't remember as I try to fix this since 3-4 months now every now and then before I give up again. And it always "tabs out" of the game when it freezes, because I see my mouse on the second monitor for this second before the lag stops every 2-3 seconds

Idk if Im allowed to post links but this is how it looks like ingame for me:

are your displays running at different hertz frequencies? try setting them to the same value.

do you have 3. party software installed? an app in the background thats being alt tabbed to?

if you are using this logitech software for your mouse or whatever uninstall it and see what it does.

or just try another mouse and dont install any 3. party software or drivers to your mouse, keyboard, gamepad, etc. just windows default drivers.

try connecting your mouse to a usb 2.0 connector or use an external usb hub.

its clearly visibile this is some kind of polling or timer thats out of control, it comes roughly at the same intervals when the mouse is moved.

try changing your mouse polling rate:

maybe your monitor cables are faulty and the hmdi link is dis- and reconnecting?

if you have amd gpu check if hdmi link secure is enabled in control panel.

have you tried with one monitor each?

I made a break through on my own stuttering mission, but also hit a new problem which I was considering making a thread on.

I finally managed to find a way to remove 90% of stutters in Tales of Zestiria on my rig, seems was caused by some kind of interrupt starvation, Whenever there was i/o activity for background windows stuff, game would stutter, even with it on a different drive to what the game is on.

I then set interrupts to be able to use every core for both GPU and NVME, and those stutters vanished.

Windows seems to at least on my rig to want to dump everything on to core 0, so I also set in process hacker to disables logical cores 0,1 from use by the game.

I then tinkered with gsync (gsync compatible version), I set the max framerate slightly below normal framerate, I see the monitor changes from 60hz to 56hz, but then I still get stutters from frametime jitter, (game is notorious for it), I even then start seeing tearing as well, it seems in this game when I enable gsync for it, it is able to use a non standard refresh rate, but then not able to adapt after game launch, so if it cant stay in correct timings for 56hz it then has tearing/stutters. So behaviour was actually worse than normal vsync. Note game it self is only 30fps target out of the box so I believe I am relying on that frame duplication thingy for low frame rates. Also had to run in exclusive full screen mode, trying to get windowed gsync to work was really messy, a massive stutter fest.
