While I don’t disagree about not testing on AMD hardware, it’s far more likely the person doing the review didnt have an amd card on hand; which is still a huge oversight. It doesn’t necessarily make someone a fanboy.
Correct. Maxus is based out of war-torn Ukraine. Did people assume I’m writing these articles?

In case you haven't noticed, the TPU article displays quite similar performance gains to your results at 4K :)

The frame-time graph with FSR 3 looks wacky compares to DLSS 3. Maybe it'll work better with AMD GPU?

AMD says it's expected for frametimes to look "zig-zag" with VSync on and smoother but probably not smooth without it.

At this point only the AMD Driver Overlay seems to display FSR 3 FG related informations other overlay don't support yet, but off course the author couldn't use it since TPU are just a hobby blog that can't provide their employees with an AMD card.

You can see here the overlay and FG for all DX11/12 games avaiable in AMD drivers :

You mistake AFMF with FSR 3, 3rd party tools don't work with AFMF but they do with native FSR 3 implementation.

Not directly related to the article but I'm actually super impressed by AFMF being a worthwhile thing at all.

People have mostly glossed it over (after all, it's a beta driver and the tech is for Jan 2024) but it is impressive how it's a fundamentally inferior thing that works without motion vectors, and still...works.
You can't expect it to work great in high action moments, but for a tech that's meant to enhance the "cinematography" of a game, it's amazing that it runs driver side, and doesn't give severe ghosting or artifacting, from what I've seen.
Had a guy test it in CoD MW2 on a 7900 xt, it was obviously not ideal due to the latency, but the experience was still totally acceptable visually:

It most certainly should mean that Nvidia is explicitly mentioned in the title.

It really is useless. VRR almost solved these problems with LFC under 45FPS. Frame rate does not matter unless under 45FPS and LFC is there for that. Fluidity matters not fake frames. Now if they could improve latency at 60FPS and below and improve LFC then that would be better.
You are just plainly wrong, and I have to imagine you haven't used the technology.

My problem is that neither frame generation technology offers consistency right now. I you could perfectly double flat 60 FPS to flat 120 FPS with a minimal latency penalty, it would be perfect. Current implementations are not good.

I'll stick to 60 Hz + Black Frame Insertion for now.
But you double flat 60 to 120 with a minimal or none latency penalty. See the thing is, games with FG also have reflex. Reflex + FG gives you the same latency as native without reflex. Hwunboxed even tested just that and found out the same

I am in the minority here, but I am not all that surprised? Though that is because I've been playing vr for a while now, which has interpolation, but I am amazed by the quality of it, which is substantially higher than the usual frame interpolation seen in vr.

Still, very nice that we are getting to the point where we realize "wait, we can actually do this"

In other news in The Talos Principle 2 Demo they forgot to software lock Nvidia DLSS from working on AMD GPUs in Linux thru Proton :>

Maybe TPU should investigate this mega fuck-up that basically confirms Nvidia DLSS doesn't use any "AI" or "Tensor Marketing Cores"

Could you upload a video of this before it gets patched away?
It's an actual scoop if it works. Nvidia's been lying this entire time and just gatekept DLSS on their hardware behind a flimsy excuse.
Turns the entire BS narrative about "AMD blocks DLSS" 100% on its head.

I say this with not the slightest hint of irony

If it doesn't get patched I would love to test it when I get home.
Running linux + AMD. Also I can imagine other things going on here, such as dlss being "enabled" but not running or FSR / something else running instead.

Edit: Remembered I had my deck with me but It seems I cannot download the demo

Can u suggest a free upload site since the video was to big to attach here. Tried Streamable but it converted it to 720p from 1440p : https://streamable.com/jx61bq
Anyway the flickering for DLSS in the right fence area is still somehow visible and evident on FSR in front of the tetris piece. Also FSR has ghosting on particles witch DLSS does not have.

L.E : My conclusion is that Nvidia "Deep Learning" Super Sampling "AI" and "Tensor Cores" are just a big bag of marketing bullshit. So what exactly are the Tensor Cores that AMD gpus supposedly don't have ?

Youtube is free, Rumble, Dailymotion, any of them. If you want one without any accounts, I'm not sure.
At a stretch, I wouldn't mind getting an archive of your vid and uploading it on my YT account for preservation, but I'm not sure how to transfer the archive either.

And yes, the fence/leaves flicker on DLSS and not on FSR, while the reflections on the ground in front of the particles reflect very differently with either. These are clearly not the same algorithms.

I also posted thus on some discord, A user using windows is describing something similar. Something must be going on here. Unsure what exactly.

Months and months of shills repeating the Nvidia PR's stream of bullshit word for word.
"Starfield will block DLSS!" "AMD blocks DLSS!" "I hate FSR for trying to take away DLSS!"

And lo and behold:
Nvidia was blocking DLSS
Starfield picked FSR because it suit their needs better (XBOX)
FSR is gaining ground not because it's better or worse, but because it runs everywhere, while Nvidia tries to force everyone to buy Nvidia by locking other hardware out of DLSS.
Nvidia is blocking DLSS. Nvidia is the problem since the start. They could've just let it run without problems on AMD HW, including consoles. And they just blocked it, got it rejected by the game devs who didn't want to be locked into Nvidia's little proprietary world, and blamed AMD for their policy of establishing overlordship on gaming.

What a bunch of ********.

You may have lifted something huge.
Hopefully they can get the game in the same conditions as you and do extended testing. Framerate vs an Nvidia card of the same class of hardware, tests on a 1080 Ti if possible, things like that would be massive.

Glad to see that Steve now knows about this, thanks for bringing it up to him, oh boy these next few days will be fun to watch unfold, traffic on this thread also seems massive, so people are definitely noticing what is going on, it's picking up, good

Using Performance preset: TAAU is a flickering mess, FSR has ghosting on particles and flicker in front, DLSS has flickering in back fence area Xess has noise under the tetris piece and TSR has flicker like DLSS on back and like FSR on front.

In Windows it's the same, you can select DLSS. But to be honest judging from performance hit and image quality is seems like it's a bug in the menu. It just selects TSR when choosing DLSS.
At least from what I see with my eyes in the demo. I get exactly same FPS with TSR and DLSS.

Very true. I can envision 3 possibilities:
  • this isn't DLSS at all and is XESS with a bad naming, totally possible
  • this is DLSS and Nvidia has been lying through their teeth since 2018
  • this is DLSS but it will at some point require Tensor core inference and that'll crash the game

Using Performance preset: TAAU is a flickering mess, FSR has ghosting on particles and flicker in front, DLSS has flickering in back fence area Xess has noise under the tetris piece and TSR has flicker like DLSS on back and like FSR on front.
Wow, the noose is tightening.
