OFFICIAL The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Discussion)

unless your goal is to become a paid reviewer in time for a game site and quit your present job.

That's the plan. You'd be surprised how many game reviewers work multiple jobs. Just last night I was playing with a writer for one of Poland's top gaming sites. He was telling me how most of their writers, particularly in the gaming sector, work multiple jobs because it's so difficult to earn a living wage. It may take years, but it's a dream job. If I get there in the end I'd consider it worth it.
Tell the developers that you're not getting paid
I do get paid, but not a living wage. NPU is a very small site, so my earnings are closely tied to its improvement. If I work hard and bring in quality content, the site grows, and money grows. If I do a crap job, well, I don't think I'd be writing for them anymore :D

That said (and more closely on topic), I don't really get time to play games like Witcher 3 in my free time. It requires tremendous time investment. I still jump into warframe a few hours a week, and very occasionally get to play games I end up enjoying for a week straight.

Aww man, this game hates me.

Just fought and after 4 attempts killed the ghost of Olgierd from the nightmare scene. Hard fight but did it after half an hour of trying - this time without bitching about it either. Goes to cut scene automatically (so cant save it), play a bit and then it crashes. Load up again and it hasn't saved me winning the fight. Absolute piece of shite. I know it was a game crash too as there was no driver message. CD PR? Suck my fucking balls.

And double post to say finished :D

so far im loving heart of stone. i found a sweet mod but sadly it broke and will no longer work lol.

but here is a couple of pics i snapped b4 it broke.

the wild horse mod works as long as you still have the original roach horse. thats my game + i tried to do heart of stone on that but is lv 62 and got one hit dead...... so i went with my original end game save.

Lol those sunglasses are to funny.

I'm currently playing through a 2nd time on new game + the game has sucked me in even more than the 1st time. Only this time in doing every side quest and ? On the map. It's great to see such a great game get polished te way it is. All the extra content being released just goes to show you the commitment

so i lost that cool armor mod but it seems that my wild hunt horse now works and i found that those glasses can be purchased in a certain place on the dlc.

All we need is a mod to let Geralt play the guitar.... Rockstar Geralt

Geralt with that armor actually make sense knowing that he used to be one of the Wild Hunt rider. Too bad we can't actually loot and wear Eredin's (or Nithral's, Imlerith's, Caranthir's) armor in the game.

I was disappointed that they dint add a wild hunt armor free dlc for Geralt. They might later in the next expansion.

Um, I imported a Witcher 2 save but I can't tell what decisions were made in said save but there appears to be no less than 3 times I finished it. Is there a way, in Witcher 3, to view the lore imported from Witcher 2?

As far i know unfortunately not, it would be nice if you saw it like in Mass Effect :)

How far do you have to play in before one of your previous decisions is revealed?

Yeah, a Genesis-like feature would have been great.

They show up throughout, and I can't tell you or it would be a spoiler. Suffice to say, when you realize something is what it is because of previous Witcher 2 actions, it's pretty cool!

I can tell you that one of the decisions at the end of Witcher 2 depended upon how merciful you were. If you were, then you will discover it doing a contract, and then it will carry over several other places in the main story after.

Basically don't be like someone else in the most disappointing games thread and decide you won't do contracts because they are all basic and boring. A good number of them tie into the main quest or side quests and are rather varied. :-)

I wasn't intending to skip them. I just have no idea what save I loaded other than the date/time. XD

I thought Witcher 2 gave a synopsis of the save so I opened Witcher 2 to see if I could figure out which saves were which but...the date/times didn't match with what Witcher 3 is showing so I only got more confused. :(

I'm pretty sure I took the last of the 6## autosaves. There's also 9## autosaves and 11## autosaves. I know one I sided with Iroveth and another I sided with Roach...I don't remember the third.

I haven't killed the Griffon yet.

The contracts are 100% worth doing. I agree with rtw

Witcher 3 was one of the best games I have played.... still have not started a 2nd playthrough fully. To many other things going on

@FordGT90Concept the save that will have all the decisions you want is going to be the last one on each of those playthru's of TW2. Apparently the game made saves right before the credits.

Yes, I know that, but I have no idea which is which.

I finished it and got the worst ending, so I loaded an older save and switched endings in the space of about 2.5 hours. The main plot is pretty short when you focus on just it and don't have to worry about levels so much.

Late game leveling was pretty much non-existant. I was level 35, I believe, when I started the Hearts of Stone expansion which got me up to level 38. I then slayed the level 48 archgriffon in northern Skelliga and did all of the final plot missions having cleared the side quests. I finished the game still at level 38. Maybe it was because I was playing on the Bloody difficulty but I wonder if ~38 is the norm.

The hardest fight for me was to get the key to free the sourceress from Oxenfurt and/or the fight in Hearts of Stone side quest against the Fallen Knights in the cavern. In both instances, it only took a few hits for Gearlt to get downed. That was very pecular in the former instance because I was 11 levels above them.

I think I'm going to do some achivement hunting then I'm going to import another save and play it until leaving Vizma to make sure I got the right one. I'll then let it sit until the final expansion releases.

I think level 38 is normal if you don't grind (just doing quest and side quest), but if you want to grind for level there's a lot of Arachas in the new area (Heart of Stone area), just north of Erde. You can find a lot of level 35-38 Arachas in there which would easily level you up to level 40-42. Slaughter them and then meditate, they will respawn.

Did you fight Olgierd the first time you meet him? For me, that was fun and challenging fight. Also the black-dream-Olgierd thing, fighting 6 of them together in Death March is frustrating.

You got tied to the bed? :D
Nope, which shocked me, actually. The entire game, Triss was very stand-offish. Which was odd because what Phillipa Eilheart said gave the impression I was to be tied to the bed. Triss refused to stay with me before setting sail and I decided to stick to Yen from that point on. I can't help but wonder it had something to do with importing a Witcher 3 save. Of the three, only one I rushed to save Triss on and I'm guessing it wasn't this one. Even then, I'd be conflicted staying with Triss knowing what I know now--for Ciri's sake.

I didn't grind for levels.

That's good advice. I should do that on my next play through (Death March) before starting the DLC main quest.

I didn't fight Olgierd the first time I met him.

The Olgierd dream was one of the harder fights. I was careful to only attack one at a time so I didn't get overwhelmed and, once I figured out I had to evade the charged blade attack, it wasn't too bad. I need to get the achivement for inciting them all too attack at once though.

You borked up something in Novigrad in her quests, probably at the masquerade and then during the sail off. you will need to beg and only one question answer option will get you laid :D. I am starting my second walkthrough... first one was with Yen, then I will go ginger in the second one :D

BTW I finished on level 35... haven't picked up the DLC's on GOG... no use... my monitor is in RMA.... well so I am kind of funny man running 980Ti on a my old 22iches @1680x1050 now lol... albeit... I can now do 4x DSR on everything and 60FPS :D 4X DSR ir the only worthy option... it makes grass so good and no jaggies in distance the windmill rotates without any kind of ladders. Other like 2x 3x introduces smearing like FXAA... no use really... but for 1440p 4x DSR is not an option... it barely handles 60FPS in Witcher on stock... I wonder what the 144Hz peps really do? There are no muscle in the wild that reasonable handles this game... also other AAA titles... like in Metal Gear 4x DSR... the mesh... the metal fence and floor in the base look like it should... well I am just spoiled.

35 sounds right without the DLC. You get about 3 levels out of it.

I don't think I screwed up at all during the ball but I obviously didn't do something right. Like I said, I'm not inclined to do Triss knowing the history.

Speaking of which, notice how all of the women that undress have the exact same body? Seen one (which you can buy for 20 crowns ), you seen them all.

6 achivements left and 5 of them will require a new save (no contracts left, can't find anyone that shoots arrows, two are DLC, and the last one is the highest difficulty).

Just save more often. I got screwed in Novigrad and went to Roach too way fast, so I failed some quests... without knowing, couldn't redo, way too much done in between... Well this time I will try to complete them. Also failed the statue quest with Triss, the quest wouldn't trigger, I went to Triss and nothing. I guess again too late.

Well... don't fix what ain't broken :D. The proportions are fine :D Although maybe a placebo but Triss got bigger airbags... we need to do some research...

I guess GOG galaxy has achievements, but I do not want to install it... it spoils the non DRM feeling of freedom.
