What are you playing?

That way I've actually finished it+ the stranger things dlc on Gamepass and it was a fun and at times rather stupid experience but personally I don't take the FC games in any serious way anyway
Except Blood Dragon. Blood Dragon must be taken with absolute seriousness.

Anyway Timberborn, and the ziplines are so fun.

Elden Ring, another playthrough, and this time I'm gonna try and tackle SOTE too

Man this game is still amazing. It's got so much

FF VII Rebirth. Been doing sidequests and now it's time to go to Junon City itself.

I think I need to replay it! I have forgotten about this somehow.. Are talking about the Aircraft carrier levels?
I mean this. I guess it's a rule that a great game has to have one shitty level.

IMO, Crysis was not a great single player game. It was "alright" and Warhead cleaned it up and improved it a bit (but used all the same assets so the game felt like a weird remix of the original). It's ok to be an "Alright" game, especially for the $2 or whatever Crysis costs now, but i think folks are getting set-up for disappointment if they're told the game is "great".

I just had a pervasive and overwhelming sense of "let's get this over with" while playing and this was after I had bought the game on a deep discount (and not the remastered non-sense) with hardware that could easily max it out. The game was clearly popular because it was pretty, not because it had much personality.

The game wanted to have you experiment with powers, but Nomad was just so damn squishy and enemy AI had so many hitscan weapons that I often felt punished for experimenting rather than rewarded, and eventually fell back into the meme above Cloak/Armor/Cloak/Armor.

Game is absolutely gorgeous though and does not piddle around with it's massive levels. I remember my tank getting damaged during one tank charge level and I thought "Oh, clearly they didn't design this map to be so huge you can't just run the whole thing" and "They will undoubtedly give me another tank shortly". The map was indeed so huge that after 5 or 10 minutes or running and no replacement vehicles in sight I figured it would be faster to restart the level than try to get to the end of it on foot.

Unlike many people, I was actually relieved when the plot twist occurred and the primary enemy changed. Engagements felt more modern and action forward, the enemy didn't use hit scan weapons, combat encounters felt more tightly designed, and you spent more time around allied npcs rather than alone out in a jungle somewhere.

But that's just me.

That was the zero-g level inside the alien structure, not a water level. I love that level! To me, it was a ton of fun!

To each their own.

No it didn't! For the time they were impressive! Even today they still stand on their own merits and kick ass.

I love zero-g levels in games, it can be very fun indeed. My all time favorite is the Infinite Warfare campaign zero-g parts. Speaking of which, I will probably replay that campaign soon, I am basically replaying everything thanks to OLED. OLED just changes everything for the better.

That being said, I hate working on my OLED monitor, so dual monitor setup is needed.

Heh, I've just always called it as a water level :D

Warhead was a "expansion" so I understand well why they reused so much of the original game.

Tbh as long as you don't expect anything special from that game then its just a simple fun game to play in shorter bursts.

I think my biggest issue with FC 6 was that it just felt empty even tho it has a big world. 'FC 3 and Blood Dragon is still my fav, FC 4 was alright tho it was already nothing new really and the ending kind of pissed me off..'
Primal while not exactly popular I think it was at least a bit different thanks to the time setting/theme of the game and that game also gave me a fair number of laughs.
5 I've only used as a benchmark tool when I was tinkering with my undervolts 'idk if that game was stable then everything else was' and New Dawn I've never tried.

1 I've only played the demo when I was younger and 2 I simply did not like in general.
Yes, I know what you mean about short bursts.
FC1 I still play from time to time and love it except for the creatures.
FC2 was too brown for my taste.
FC3 is when it really took off and I played the hell out of that one. It's the only FC that I went full out on to the end, including the naughty scene, cough.
FC4 I lost all my progress about 75% through and it was just ok.
FC5 was weird and ruined by some impossible missions - 'Only you...'anyone? I grabbed a great Vietnam era heli with weapons which I still fly around for the heck of it.
FC New Dawn has an interesting premise and again I dip into it from time to time. At the moment I'm trying to infiltrate the aircraft carrier but keep getting killed.

FC Primal I just couldn't get hooked.

Love the opening of Far Cry 3 and agree it is the best one.

Let's not forget FC3-BloodDragon. IMPO, on par with FC1 for the quality of game experience.

Yeah Blood Dragon was fun, I was always impressed with how easy it was to run Blood Dragon, I bet my current rig could get a full 240 fps maxed out in it pretty easily. I might try that soon too.

I completely agree and I hated this level. If I wanted to play zero-g, I'd play Forsaken. The aliens in Crysis were the worst part and completely took away from the reality of fighting the NK.
Other than that, Crysis is the definitive fps for me and always will be, even though I just about managed to play it on a Pentium 4, yet still enjoyed it thoroughly.

I didn't rush to get RE3 when it came out, RE2 was the first of the whole series that I played and while it was good, it wasn't anything special to my mind.
Just tried out RE3 on gamepass. I like it much, much more, it's like an action thriller more than a jumpscare horror. I'll need to finish that before I go back to Indiana Jones, or at least play them alternatively. It's too good to quit playing, at least at this point of the story.

Great game, I hate only its shortness. 100%'d on Steam and Platinum'd on PS4. :P

The greater focus on action is intentional since that's how the original was too.

I'm presuming you never played either of the originals? If you hadn't, it's interesting to hear your opinion because most people seemed to like the remake of 2 for staying pretty faithful while also being a good modernization, but more people seemed mixed on the remake of 3. And that's also how the originals were regarded in their own time... but it's for different reasons that each version of 3 had mixed reception.

The original 3 was disliked because it was shorter, and because it had a greater emphasis on action (but not to the same extent as the over the shoulder action/arcade gameplay that 4 was).

What the remake was disliked for was because it changed too much. After how faithful the remake for 2 was, I think more people would have liked the remake for 3 if stayed more faithful and addressed the shortcomings of the original by adding some bits. There was a lot of cut portions; the city is way shorter, the park is gone (as is the boss in it), the clock tower is gone, and the final park and factory are gone. Really, only the city, short stop in the police department, and hospital remain. The new hospital was nice and final labs weren't bad, but it was very much a different game. It even dropped the choice feature, the side game (was replaced by some online game that I think is shutting down?), and the original OST is gone too (even if the remake for 2 only included the original OST as DLC, it was there). The final battle music (and the battle itself) was really good... but that alone doesn't make up for the entire original OST. I think people were mixed on Jill's changes too. I think it's still a good game, but not a great remake.

Re3 remake is a better game than re2 remake, i'm not assessing how faithful they are to the OG

The mandatory underwater level is like a traditional piece of shit in games, especially in first person. I can't remember a game where I liked being underwater. Slow ass movement...

Another big one you see a lot is 'the dream'... yet another game inside the game where you are walking past a slideshow of memories, events, or have to play 'past them' and tends to include a lot of purple and hallucination effects. And of course, again, your movement speed is halved and if you're unlucky, even the camera is heavily smoothed and huge motion blur was added.

I like the dodging etc. on RE3 remake. After playing it and going back to RE2 makes me always frustrated as it doesn't have that similar dodging.

I am now on chapter 10 of FF7 Rebirth, the combat honestly reminded me of Tales of series except FF7 made it a bit worse.
If they wanted me to constantly switch chars in combat then they should have kept it turned-based.
I am finding the amount of exploration a bit of a chore now, easily spend 2-3 days split between a couple of hours on just doing all the exploration, side quest and combat sim alone.
