ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces All-New Strix Gold Aura Edition Series

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the Strix Gold Aura Edition series power supply units (PSUs), which pack the latest ATX 3.0 compatibility, improved cooling, 16-pin PCI Express (PCIe) support and integrated Aura Sync RGB illumination. We built the original Strix 850 W Gold PSU to provide stable, efficient, cool and quiet power to mainstream rigs of all stripes. But technology marches ever onward, and with modern graphics cards driving the new ATX 3.0 standard of power delivery, it's time to take Strix to the next level.

Like its predecessor, the Strix Gold Aura Edition series—available in 750 W, 850 W, 1000 W, and 1200 W variants—stand apart from competing power supplies thanks to a larger heatsink for cool, quiet operation. With twice the volume of traditional PSU heatsinks, this design allows for lower temperatures, longer component lifespan, and longer 0dB operation under light and medium loads. However, with the Strix Gold Aura Edition, we went even further: the entire power supply is now encased in a sleek aluminium chassis that acts as its own heatsink, further reducing temperatures and minimizing noise.

ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces ROG Loki Availability

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the availability of the ROG Loki—the high-performance, high-wattage PSU series in a striking SFX-L form. Packed with large ROG heatsinks for rapid cooling, integrated ARGB lighting to project personal style and axial-tech fans for whisper-quiet operation, the Loki series is pumped and primed to power small-form-factor (SFF) builds.

Large showcase rigs will always be the lifeblood of the PC-building community, but SFF builds have become increasingly popular in recent years. It's easy to see why: for those that want a build that can comfortably fit on a smaller desk, or in an entertainment center for TV gaming, a Mini-ITX machine is the perfect choice. But cramming next-gen power into a tiny case can be a challenge, especially with the added heat those components can produce. ROG's new Loki power supplies were designed to keep efficiency up and footprint down, empowering avid PC DIYers to build no-compromise, console-crushing clones.

MSI MEG Ai1300P and Ai1000P Power Supplies Leaked, Optimized for GPU Power Spikes

MSI is readying a line of high-end "smart" power supplies under the MEG Ai P-series. Some of the most relevant slides from its launch presentation were leaked to the web. courtesy g01d3nm4ng0. The PSUs feature ATX 3.0 and PCI-Express Gen 5.0 readiness, including native PCI-Express 16-pin 12VHPWR connectors that are capable of delivering 600 W of power. The lineup includes two models—the Ai1300P (1300 W), and Ai1000P (1000 W).

A key aspect of these PSUs' ATX 3.0 specification compliance is their ability to handle power excursions (spikes in load) from GPUs, ranging between 1 to 10 milliseconds in interval. Specifically, these PSUs can handle GPU power excursions that are up to 3x the nameplate load (eg: a GPU with 450 W typical power pulling 1350 W spikes). In some of the older PSUs, excursions are known to trigger the overload protection and shut down the system. The MSI MEG Ai P-series PSUs can handle excursions that are up to 2x the PSU's nameplate capacity (eg: 2600 W for the 1300 W model); and 3x that of the 16-pin connector (i.e. 1800 W). These spikes typically have a extremely narrow interval, and so they don't threaten the integrity of the circuits.

The company will start selling these two by late-September.

Alphacool Introduces Four New Extremely Large Radiators

Alphacool introduces four new extremely large radiators. The first two radiators are for 180 or 200 mm fans and are a thickness of 86 mm. The 200 and 400 mm NexXxoS Monsta radiators offer a huge cooling surface. Both radiators have 7x standard G1/4" ports. 6 of the ports are for inlet/outlet and the 7th port is located at the end chamber and can only be used for filling, draining, or bleeding the radiator. The fin density has been reduced from 16 to 12 FPI to allow the use of lower static pressure fans and lower RPMs.

The new Nova 1080 UT60 radiator is a thicker version of the Nova 1080 XT45 radiator. The enormous cooling surface is comparable to three 360 mm UT60 radiators. This makes it easy to cool more than 1000 W of excess heat with extremely quiet to silent spinning fans. This is equivalent to a 64 core AMD Threadripper of the latest generation and at least two GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards.

GALAX GeForce RTX 3090 Hall Of Fame (HOF) Edition GPU Benched with Custom 1000 W vBIOS

GALAX, the maker of the popular premium Hall Of Fame (HOF) edition of graphics cards, has recently announced its GeForce RTX 3090 HOF Edition GPU. Designed for extreme overclocking purposes, the card is made with a 12 layer PCB, 26 phase VRM power delivery configuration, and three 8-pin power connectors. Today, we have managed to get the first comprehensive review of the card by a Chinese YouTube channel 二斤自制. However, this wasn't just regular testing being conducted on a card with factory settings. The channel has applied 1000 Watt vBIOS to the GPU and ran it all on the air cooler the GPU comes with.

In the default 420 Watt setting, the card has been running with a GPU clock of 1845 MHz and a temperature of 69 degrees Celsius. However, when the 1000 Watt vBIOS was applied to the card, the GPU core has managed to ramp to 2000 MHz and consume as much as 630 W of power. If you were wondering if the stock cooler was able to handle it all, the answer is yes. The card has reached a toasty 96 C temperature. While GALAX doesn't offer BIOS like this, the ID of the BIOS corresponds to that of a custom XOC 1000 W BIOS for EVGA Kingpin GeForce RTX 3090 GPU, which you can find in our database. When it comes to performance, the gains were very minimal at only 2-3%. That must have been due to the insufficient cooling, and the card could have done much better on water or LN2. The Firestrike Ultra and Firestrike Extreme results are displayed below.

Adding to the increased power delivery, the second PSU decreases the likelihood of data loss, since failure of one unit leaves the other being able to power your system (depending on workload, of course). Phanteks also says that the daisy-chained PSUs deliver the best power efficiency possible by consistently routing power through the most efficient routing at any given time.

Newegg, Rosewill Partner in Bringing Miners the PSUs They Deserve

Mining is a billion unit business by any metric you use: be it in hardware components sold, dollars generated for miners, and energy consumption, mining is one of the most florescent businesses in recent years. Mining around the globe consumes more power than many countries by themselves would; moves huge amounts of hardware through both sea and air; and is one of the more divisive technological developments of the decade, with proponents claiming it's the reinvention of the economic wheel, and others defining it as a hoax, a purposeless, virtual fallacy with no added value other than that which can be attributed to a pyramid scheme. However, no matter which side of the fence you stand in, there's one thing both miners and users usher in: enough PSU power to enable them to attain their particular use cases with both high-efficiency and peace of mind.
