In Win Intros Classic Basic Series High-Wattage PSUs

In Win today introduced the modestly named Classic Basic (CB) series high-Wattage PSUs. These are high-end PSUs with premium specifications, whose naming probably reflects the classic product design. Available in 1050W and 1200W models, the CB series PSUs offer fully modular flat cabling, DC-to-DC switching for the +3.3V and +5V rails, and a single +12V rail design, boasting of 80 Plus Platinum efficiency. The 135 mm temperature-activated fan stays off when either the PSU's load is under 25%, or an internal thermal diode reads under 55°C. It only starts spinning beyond, with a gradual curve. The fan spins for 60 seconds following system shutdown.

Under the hood, the CB-series features a Digital Voltage Feedback design that minimizes output voltage fluctuation to under ±2%; an active PFC, and electrical protections against over/under-voltage, overload, overheat, and short-circuit. Both models offer two 8-pin EPS connectors besides the 24-pin ATX. The 1200W model offers eight 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors, while the 1050W model offers six. Both models offer 16 SATA power, and a number of other legacy power connectors. Both models are backed by 7-year warranties.

Mistel Intros Vision MX Series Fanless PSUs with RGB LED Lighting

You probably know Mistel more for its physically split keyboards. The company is taking a plunge into PC power with the new Vision MX PSU series, which it had shown off at Computex 2018. This is probably the first fanless PSU with RGB LED illumination and 80 Plus Platinum-certified efficiency. Available in 550W and 650W variants for now, these units feature a very airy body design, which is needed to keep its hot innards cool. The space where a fan ought to be, is filled up with large heatsinks. It still ends up looking like you can sneak a 15 mm-thick fan in there on your own.

Mistel didn't put out finer specs of the Vision MX, but it likely features a single +12V rail design. You get full modular cabling, with enough juice and straws for a gaming PC with up to three graphics cards. Besides the 24-pin ATX, you get up to two 4+4 pin EPS, up to eight 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, a dozen SATA power, and 3 Molex connectors. The PSU features addressable RGB LED lighting across a 16.7 million-color palette. A standard 4-pin ARGB cable links the PSU to your motherboard or LED controller. The company plans to launch the higher-spec MX1000 and MX1250 later down the year, but those aren't fanless. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Cooler Master Expands V Series Platinum Power Supply Family

Cooler Master created the V series of power supplies a few years ago. Up to now, the long-running series only had one 80 Plus Platinum certified model in its lineup, the Cooler Master V1200. However, Cooler Master is keen to expand on the series's success and bring at least three new 80 Plus Platinum certified models to the market. Now available in capacities of 850 W, 1000 W, and 1300 W, the upcoming power supplies carry features like a full-modular design, DC-DC technology, full-bridge LLC resonant converter, Thermal Regulation Mode (TRM), and a double ball bearing fan. The Cooler Master V850, V1000, and V1300 are backed by a 10-year warranty.

EVGA Unveils the Super G7 1000, The Most Compact 1000W PSU

EVGA showed off a prototype of the Super G7 1000, the most compact 1000-Watt power supply. This unit is just 125 mm in length, or about the length of mainstream 400-600W PSUs, but is fully modular, and packs a 1000W punch. The unit is about 17% smaller than a SuperNova 1000 G3, and is expected to be cheaper than it. This feat is made possible by some parts of the main PCB made to stand as perpendicular daughterboards. The unit still manages to tick all high-end checkboxes, including a single +12V design, DC-to-DC switching, 80 Plus Platinum efficiency, electrical protections, and full modular cabling. It measures 150 mm x 86 mm x 125 mm (WxHxD), and employs a 120 mm fan to keep cool. EVGA plans to launch this some time in September 2018.

SilverStone Intros Nightjar NJ450-SXL Fanless Power Supply

SilverStone introduced its Nightjar NJ450-SXL, a fan-less (silent) power-supply in the SFX-L form-factor. The unit boards of full modular cabling, and relies on a chunky, ridged aluminium body that doubles up as a heatsink, to cool itself. The unit puts out 450W of continuous power, with 80 Plus Platinum-rated efficiency. It supports the latest ATX 12V 2.4 specification.

Under the hood, the NJ450-SXL features a single +12V rail design, active PFC, and most common electrical protection mechanisms. There's enough juice and straws for a gaming PC build with a fairly high-end graphics card. You get a staggering four 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors (probably the highest ever for a 450W PSU), besides the 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, eight SATA power, three Molex, and a Berg. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Seasonic Intros Prime SnowSilent Series PSUs with 12-year Warranty

Seasonic today introduced three Prime SnowSilent series PSU models. The series is characterized by white main body, a chrome-finished steel fan grille, and a white impeller on its main fan. The internal DC outputs and AC receptacles are contrasting black. There's an intense design focus on keeping the noise output of these units low. The fan downright stays off below a load threshold, and only has a low noise output beyond that. The fans feature fluid-dynamic bearings to help low noise and longevity, to keep up with the series' staggering 12-year product warranties.

The three models launched today are the SnowSilent 550 Gold, SnowSilent 650 Platinum, and SnowSilent 750 Titanium. The SnowSilent 550 Gold puts out 550W continuous output, and boasts of 80 Plus Gold efficiency. It is intended for gaming PC builds with 1-2 graphics cards. The SnowSilent 650 Platinum features 650W continuous output, and 80 Plus Platinum efficiency. The SnowSilent 750 Titanium leads the pack with 750W continuous output, and 80 Plus Titanium efficiency. The 650 Platinum and 750 Titanium are intended for builds with high CPU power draw, and 2-3 graphics cards.

Gamdias Intros Cyclops and Astrape Series PSUs

Known more for its gaming peripherals (input devices), Gamdias entered the power-supply market with the launch of its Cyclops X1 and Astrape P1 series. The Cyclops X1 is the more premium series of the two, and for now, only has a 1200W model. The Atrape P1 comes in 750W, 650W, and 550W models, with three 650W models based on cabling and efficiency. What's common between all Gamdias PSUs is RGB LED-illuminated fan, with a rear-panel switch to toggle lighting, a and "silent mode" switch that turns off the fan, which feels too closely placed to the main AC input switch (what could possibly go wrong?).

The Cyclops X1-1200P features 80 Plus Platinum efficiency, fully modular cabling, and enough juice and straws for an enthusiast build with up to four graphics cards (ten PCIe 6+2 and two 8-pin EPS). The Astrape P1-750G and P1-650G feature 80 Plus Gold efficiency, fully-modular cabling, and cabling for high-end builds with 2-3 graphics cards. Phanteks Revolt X and Revolt Pro Power Supplies Pictured

Phanteks at its 2018 International CES booth treated us with a big selection of new wares, beginning with the new Revolt X and Revolt Pro power-supply series. The Revolt X model on display is 1200W (model: PH-P1200PS). Revolt X are high-end, fully-modular PSUs, with cabling to power two individual systems. You get two 24-pin ATX cables, three 8-pin EPS, and a total of eight 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors. You also get a total of eight SATA power, three Molex, and one Berg. The power supply turns on when either of the two 24-pin connector shorts the power cable, and turns off when neither of the two is drawing power, so you get the freedom to use two individual machines within one case.

Under the hood, the Revolt X features a single +12V rail design, with a single 100A rail. FSP Introduces the New Hydro PTM+ Liquid Cooled PSU

Electrical circuits and water have never liked to be the closest friends. However, computer hardware enthusiasts - and even the simply hardware curious - have been able to leverage liquid cooling solutions' higher thermal dissipation capabilities to reduce temperatures of their operating hardware. Now, FSP is looking to introduce something that has been seldom seen in other power supply units: liquid cooling.

Expect to see more of these units at Computex, where we'll perhaps learn about this unit's pricing. I assure you, however, that these won't come cheap.

Seasonic Updates its PSU Product Lines

After taking a long while - a very long while, in fact - to launch its flagship Prime Titanium PSU series, and after leaving its product line seemingly dormant for a while, it looks like Seasonic was actually getting ready to wake the proverbial sleeping giant: according to the company, 2017 will be an important milestone because it will feature the release of several new product lines that will include high performance - and high quality - power supplies.

Corsair Unveils New HX and TX-M Series PSUs, and the Bulldog 2.0 Chassis

Under the hood, the In Win Classic series PSUs feature single +12V rail design, with 80 Plus Platinum switching efficiency, a suite of electrical protection mechanisms, active-PFC, and support for ATX v2.4/EPS2.92 standards. The units are cooled by 120 mm temperature-activated fans. The In Win C-750W is priced at 169.90€, while the C-900W goes for 194.90€ (including taxes). Both models are backed by 7-year warranties.

Enermax Announces Availability of Platimax DF Series PSUs

ENERMAX new 80 PLUS Platinum certified power supply with up to 93% high efficiency, Platimax D.F. made its debut on CeBIT 2016 and is now available on the market with two models: 500W and 600W. Platimax D.F. is the successor of ENERMAX awarding-winning series, Platimax, with full modular cable design. Platimax D.F. capitalizes on 2016 ENERMAX innovation, patented Dust Free Rotation (DFR) technology which enables the PSU fan to spin in reverse for 10 sec. upon startup to blow away the dust swiftly for self cleaning. GIGABYTE Xtreme Gaming XP1200M Power Supply Now Available

GIGABYTE announced availability of its first Xtreme Gaming series high-end power supply, the XP1200M. The unit was first shown to the public at the 2016 Computex expo, last month. As its model name suggests, the XP1200M is a 1200W PSU with fully-modular cabling. The unit boasts of 80 Plus Platinum switching efficiency, with an all Japanese capacitor design, single +12V rail, DC-to-DC switching, and most common electrical protections.

The unit has enough juice and straws for a high-end gaming PC build with 3-4 graphics cards. Besides the 24-pin ATX, you get a total of six 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors, two 4+4 pin EPS connectors, twelve SATA, eight Molex, and two Molex-to-Berg (floppy) adapters. The unit is cooled by a 140 mm fan, which stays below 20 dBA when the load is under 720W. It's 30 dBA at 1000W load, and 35 dBA at maximum load.

In Win designed one of the classiest looking PSUs on the Computex showfloor, with the Signature S-Series 1065W. This 80 Plus Platinum rated PSU features a unique product design, with a chunky aluminium grill plate covering amber colored 165 mm fan on the SIII, a golden copper grill in the SII, and a red brushed aluminium grill in the SI. A strip of amber (almost whiskey-colored) LEDs light up the unit's innards, which can be viewed from the tempered glass side panels. The large capacitors make the PSU look like a retro audio amp. You have enough juice and straws for a machine with up to three high-end video cards. The PSU also allows 3 steps of manual overrides to let you increase its Wattage (at the expense of reduced switching efficiency).

Raijintek Intros Micro ATX Optimized PSUs

Raijintek introduced a new line of PSUs that are optimized for the Micro ATX form-factor. While technically it's an ATX PSU, it's shorter than some of the shortest ATX PSUs, giving you more room in the typically space-constrained micro-ATX case. The first picture below shows you just how short the PSU is, next to a typical ATX PSU. The company put up 600W and 700W models of the series. Both units use 100 mm fans instead of the 120-140 mm fans typically found in ATX PSUs. The 700W model features 80 Plus Platinum efficiency, while the 600W model features 80 Plus Gold. Both units feature APFC, single +12V rail design, and most common electrical protection mechanisms. Both further feature partially modular cables.

Lian-Li Shows Off Two New High-Wattage SFX-L PSUs

Lian Li is nurturing the SFX-L form-factor of power supplies, with two new [relatively] high-Wattage PSUs. These include the 750W PE-750, and the 550W PE-550. These PSUs feature fully modular cabling, minimizing the cable clutter in your compact case, and boast of 80 Plus Platinum efficiency, APFC, and most common electrical protections. The PE-750 has enough cabling for a dual graphics card build, while the PE-550 has cabling for a single graphics card build with a high-end GPU. Both PSUs use 120 mm fans that spin only beyond a load/temperature threshold.
