Corsair, the most awarded PC power supply brand in the world1, today announced its new HXi Series PC power supply, the latest evolution in the award-winning line of HX PSUs. Available in 750, 850, and 1000 watt models, the HXi Series PSU feature 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency, fully modular cables, near-silent operation, Japanese electrolytic capacitors, and Corsair software monitoring and customization. Akin to all Corsair PSUs, the HXi Series utilizes high-quality componentry to guarantee clean, stable, continuous power when needed most.

The ultra-efficient design found within the HXi Series generates minimal heat and runs exceptionally quiet, even when delivering high levels of power. The PSUs meet the stringent requirements for 80 PLUS Platinum certification by achieving greater than 92% energy efficiency - reducing both energy waste and the electrical bill. Built with specially selected low-noise capacitors and transformers, and a Zero-RPM Fan Mode (that only spins the PSU fan under the heaviest loads), the HXi Series PSU deliver ultra-low noise operation during common daily use. Polish enthusiast hardware maker with an 'ear' out for silence, SilentiumPC announced its Supremo M1 Platinum 700W power supply. It boasts of 80 Plus Platinum efficiency rating, and features a semi-modular cabling layout. To begin with, the unit features a single +12V rail design, with a single 58A rail. Its OEM is High Power Technology. The selling point of this PSU, however, is the behavior of its 135 mm fan, which stays off under most low-to-moderate loads, and spools up only under stress (over 300W of power draw). The PSU should be completely silent under most non-gaming / productivity use, even with a modern CPU running at 100% load. Cabling includes a 24-pin ATX, 4+4 pin EPS, four 6+2 pin PCIe, ten SATA, four Molex, and one Berg by adapter. It's priced at US $130.

Super Flower began shipping an 850W variant of its 80 Plus Platinum-brandishing Leadex Platinum series power supplies. Slotted between the 750W and 1000W variants, the 850W variant offers enough juice for triple graphics card setups using today's performance-segment graphics cards, or two high-end ones. Featuring fully-modular cabling, the PSU offers two 8-pin EPS connectors, from which one breaks up into 4+4 pins; besides the 20+4 pin ATX connector. There are a total of six 6+2 pin PCI-Express power connectors on offer. Ten SATA power, seven Molex, and one Berg make for the rest of its connectivity. Under the hood, the Leadex Platinum 850W features a single +12V rail design, with a single 70.8A rail. The unit supports low-power Core "Haswell" C-states. Most common electrical and thermal protections are offered. It uses a 140 mm temperature-controlled fan to keep cool. Backed by a 5-year warranty, the Leadex Platinum 850W from Super Flower is expected to go for around US $220.

SilverStone unveiled a 520W model of its NightJar line of silent power supplies (model: SST-NJ520). The fully modular, and fan-less power supply boasts of 80 Plus Platinum efficiency rating, and features a single +12V rail design, with a single 43A +12V rail. Cabling includes a 24-pin ATX, 4+4-pin EPS, two 6+2-pin PCIe, six SATA, five Molex, and one Berg. On offer are flat (ribbon) cables that are easier to bend around tight corners in your case. The PSU passively cools all its hot components using chunky heatsinks, and a highly perforated body, which measures 150 mm x 160 mm x 86 mm (WxDxH). SilverStone didn't reveal pricing.

At the end of the day, Lepa started off as a PSU maker, and that's where its expertise lies. The company unveils several new PSUs at Computex, the most notable of which smiled for our cameras. Things start off with the new MX series mainstream PSUs, which offer semi-modular cabling with flat peripheral cables, a single +12V rail design, and up to 86 percent efficiency. These units come in 450W (N450-MA), 550W (N550-MA), and 650W (N650-MA) variants. The 450W model is good for most single graphics card builds, the 550W and 650W ones can take on dual-graphics card setups.

Moving on, Lepa unveiled the BM "MaxBron" series 80 Plus Bronze certified mid-range PSUs, which come in 450W (B450-MB), 550W (B550-MB), 650W (B650-MB), 700W (B700-MB), 800W (B800-MB), and 1000W (B1000-MB) variants. The 450W is good for single card builds, 550W thru 700W for dual-card builds, and 800W thru 1000W for triple-card ones. These units feature semi-modular cabling with flat modular cables, a colorful rubber/silicone frame lining the unit's edges called Anti3s Q-Brick, which absorbs vibrations to reduce noise, and a hydraulic bearing 135 mm fan.

2013 sure is turning out to be the year of smart PSUs, with debutante in the PSU market, Phanteks, unveiling its Enthoo ES700. The company recently entered the premium case market with a bang. The ES700 is a 700W 80 Plus Platinum-certified PSU, with digital VRM, semi-modular cabling, and a unique front-panel accessory that fits into 5.25-inch drive bays, giving you a live readout of load and efficiency. The same LED-based display is also located on the unit itself, next to the AC receptacle. The unit uses a single +12V rail design, offers most common protections, and uses a 135 mm fan to keep cool. The unit is still being designed, and the final version could feature sleeved cables.

PSU maker High Power unveiled the Astro PT line of premium PSUs, which as the name might suggest, are 80 Plus Platinum certified. Astro PT is a "smart" PSU, which comes in 600W and 700W capacities, features a single +12V rail design, and a few impressive innovations, such as a WiFi-based connection to your PC, using which it interfaces with a monitoring and fan-control software.

Why WiFi and why not USB, you ask? Because WiFi allows overclockers to use an external device, such as a notebook, to monitor the PSU, so the bench machine the PSU is powering isn't affected by monitoring software. This software lets you monitor the various power domains, and tinker with the unit's fan-curve. The Astro PT also features an in-built power load meter that works like Kill-a-Watt, and measures power consumption at the AC receptacle. The Astro PT also features a digital VRM design, partially modular cabling with flat modular cables, and a 135 mm fan. The PSU supports low-power C-states of the new Core "Haswell" processors.

Antec unveiled the first of its "smart" PSUs that rival Corsair AXi line, the High Current Pro Platinum Grid. The PSU plugs into your motherboard over a vacant USB 2.0/1.1 header, and interfaces with Antec Grid, a software that lets you monitor and log the unit's overall efficiency, various power domains, rails, temperatures, fan-speeds. It lets you override the unit's fan-speed curve, and monitor temperature over four sensors, reading from four key zones of the unit. Innards of these 80 Plus Platinum-certified PSUs are otherwise identical to the High Current Pro Platinum series launched last year, and are available in identical high-Wattage variants: 750W, 850W, 1000W, 1200W, and 1300W. These PSUs feature fully modular cabling, the 750W variant is ideal for gaming PC builds with up to two graphics cards, the 850W and 1000W three, and the others four. The company also showed off various HCP Platinum PSU models, most of which were launched at last year's Computex.

FSP, a retail brand of PSU OEM Fortron Electronics, unveiled its flagship PSU series, the Aurum 92+ HW. These 80 Plus Platinum-certified high-Wattage PSUs come in 850W (HW850), 1000W (HW1000), and 1200W (HW1200) capacities, and offer efficiency levels that tend to go beyond 92 percent. Pictured below, the Aurum 92+ HW features a single +12V rail design, ATX 12V v2.31 and EPS v2.92 standards compliant, which gives it Core "Haswell" low power states support, an LLC full-bridge topology design, and connectivity that includes eight 6+2-pin PCIe connectors, 24-pin ATX, a couple of 4+4-pin EPS, and a large number of SATA/Molex ports.

Thought 80 Plus Platinum was the pinnacle of PSU efficiency? Think again. 80 Plus Titanium is where it's at. Applicable only in regions with 220~230VAC domestic power, 80 Plus Titanium requires a PSU to offer at least 94 percent efficiency at 20 percent load, at least 96 percent efficiency at 50 percent load, and at least 91 percent efficiency at 100 percent load. Currently, just 8 PSUs went under 80 Plus certification, because only server-grade PSUs could earn it. Super Flower unveiled what is perhaps the first consumer PSU to do it, which it's yet to name. The PSU is 80 Plus Titanium certified under 220~230VAC, and at least 80 Plus Platinum certified under 100~120VAC.

Several of Super Flower's new 80 Plus Platinum-certified PSUs are scraping 80 Plus Titanium efficiency levels, although they're not quite there. These units feature an 80 Plus Platinum badge with a ">92% at 50% load" marking, denoting efficiency levels that get very close to 80 Plus Titanium. In any case, those are some excellent efficiency numbers being offered. A star-attraction at Super Flower's booth is the Leadex Platinum 1000W, a fully-modular PSU that is advertised to offer over 94% efficiency at 50 percent load.

With two of its star attractions at Computex, the tòu and the KingSize H-Frame featuring elements of mirror-finish tempered glass, it's only natural that In Win would roll out a matching PSU lineup, since it's in the business of it. Pictured below is the company's new Serenity PSU, which could be available in various higher-range capacities. The one pictured below offers 900W.

Serenity PSUs are built with chrome brush-finished steel, to match some of the company's newer cases. The units are 80 Plus Platinum-certified, offer full-range APFC, a single +12V rail design, most common protection technologies such as OCP/OVP/OLP/UVP/SCP, and various regional certifications. These units are about 18 cm long, and feature partially modular cabling. The 24-pin ATX, 4+4-pin EPS, and a pair of 6+2-pin PCIe connectors come fixed, while two additional pairs of 6+2-pin PCIe connectors, twelve to sixteen SATA power, and three to six Molex connectors come modular. The unit is cooled by a 120 mm double ball-bearing fan. Its MTBF is rated at >120,000 hours. The Serenity series supports Core "Haswell" processors' low idle power states.

At CeBIT, Enermax showed off its premium Fanless 650W Platinum PSU. Relying entirely on passive cooling, this box offers 100% modular cabling (including the 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors), a dynamic hybrid topology, and DC-to-DC switching. To sweeten the deal for those concerned with its 650W capacity, the PSU is 80 Plus Platinum-compliant, with over 94 percent efficiency. It appears to include sufficient cabling for a gaming PC build with up to two graphics cards (a total of four 6+2 pin PCIe connectors).

Enermax plans to enter CeBIT with a three main attractions to its booth. First, a new lineup of fanless/silent PSUs; second, additions to its Fulmo line of ATX mid~full-tower cases; and third, the DreamBass line of notebook coolers that replace your notebook's built-in tweeters speakers with ones that can begin to do justice to bass. To begin with, Enermax is looking to launch a line of fanless PSUs in the mid-capacity range (500W-700W), which toss out fans for chunkier heatsinks, feature modular cabling, and are 80 Plus Platinum-compliant.

Moving on, Enermax will show off a handful of its newest gaming PC cases, including the Fulmo ST ATX mid-tower, pictured below. The Fulmo ST, according to the company, is spacious enough for triple graphics-card gaming PC builds, with room for 240 mm radiators, and a liquid-cooling loop that doesn't stick out. It will pack ten 3.5-inch/2.5-inch drive bays, and various nifty locking/mounting mechanisms that help PC enthusiasts. Following its CeBIT unveil, the Fulmo ST will make it to stores in April.

Fortron's channel brand FSP unveiled its Aurum 92+ line of modular PSUs. The 80 Plus Platinum compliant power-boxes will initially ship in two mid-range capacities, 550W (PT-550M) and 650W (PT-650M). The two feature Fortron's innovative FSPMIA-IC, a single chip that integrates various voltage regulation and protection functions, minimizing clutter on the PCB. Both models use a quad-rail technology, with four 18A +12V rails. The company's HybridSynergy technology allows load to be spread across the four rails. Most common protection features are covered. The two feature partially modular cabling, with the 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, and a PCIe connector being fixed, while the SATA/Molex connectors and a second set of PCIe cables are modular. The two will reach stores some time in February.

Chieftec has recently added a new model to its Smart Series family of power supplies, a unit called GPS-500C which offers a 500 W output and features a fanless design. This passively-cooled PSU complies with the ATX 12V 2.3 specs, is modular and has a single 12V rail, Active PFC, and an efficiency of over 90% (it comes with an 80 Plus Platinum certification).

The GPS-500C is backed by a two-year warranty and can be found on pre-order priced at €132.78.

PSU specialist Super Flower unveiled the "Ice Butterfly" 530W Overclock Version. The 80 Plus Platinum-compliant PSU features active PFC with LLC half-bridge, synchronous rectifiers, DC-DC switching, dual-forward switching, Japanese-made capacitors, and German-made MOSFETs. The PSU features fixed cabling, with sufficient cabling for single graphics card high-end builds (we imagine no more than two 6+2 pin PCIe connectors). The unit is cooled by a 140 mm temperature-controlled fan. It is backed by a 5-year warranty. Pricing and availability details are awaited.

Corsair officially launched two new DSP-enhanced AXi series modular PSUs, the 860-Watt AX860i and 760-Watt AX760i. In addition, Corsair released the AX860 and AX760, which are variants that lack the DSP-control and Corsair Link Support. All four models are 80 Plus Platinum-certified. The AX860i and AX760i pack monitoring chips and DSPs that connect to the motherboard over USB 2.0/1.1 internal header, letting the PSU interface with the included Corsair Link software, that lets you monitor temperature, power input/output, load, efficiency, PSU fan speed (with manual control), and PSU rail virtualization, features which have been exclusive to the top-end AX1200i till now.

All four models ship with six PCIe 6+2 pin power connectors, twelve SATA power connectors, eight 4-pin Molex connectors (with a Berg adapter), two 8-pin (4+4 pin) EPS/ATX connectors, apart from the customary 24-pin ATX connector. The units are cooled by a 140 mm fan that is completely spun down when the PSU load is below a threshold. The AX860i, AX860, AX760i, and AX760, are priced at US $249.99, $219.99, $229.99, and $199.99, respectively.

Corsair plans to expand its AXi line of digital PSUs with two new models, the AX760i and AX860i. The two are characterized by 80 Plus Platinum compliance, and Corsair Link support, which gives you digital control thanks to its onboard DSPs. In addition to the various ATX, SATA, and PCIe standard connectors, the PSU connects with your system over a USB 2.0/1.1 internal header, interfacing with the Corsair Link 2 software. The software gives you real-time monitoring of power-draw (load), efficiency, fan-speed, and ambient temperature (within the PSU casing); and manual control over the fan-speed.

Both the 860W AX860i and 760W AX760i come with enough cabling for gaming PCs with three to four graphics cards (six to eight 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors), anywhere between 12 to 14 SATA power connectors, around eight 4-pin Molex power connectors, and two 8-pin EPS connectors (for use with enthusiast-grade motherboards). The AX860i is listed by Canadian retailer Canada Computers & Electronics for CA $235, while the AX760i is listed by German retailer Alternate.de for 219€. These could be pre-launch prices. The AX860i and AX760i are slated for launch a little later this week.Update: JonnyGuru posted some pictures of the AX860i. The pictures reveal the fully modular PSU to be contract-manufactured by Flextronics.

Rosewill announced the SilentNight 500W fanless PSU and Tachyon 550W. The two 80 Plus Platinum-compliant PSUs were launched earlier today. The SilentNight 500W appears to be based on a Super Flower platform, and uses a chunky aluminum heatsink that makes direct contact with hot components such as FETs, to cool itself, without needing a fan. It features sufficient cabling for a mid-range dual-GPU gaming PC, including a pair 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, 8-pin EPS, 24-pin ATX, and up to six SATA power connectors. It uses a partially-modular cabling layout.

The Tachyon 550W, on the other hand, uses a slow (quiet) temperature-controlled 140 mm fan to cool itself. It packs an identical contingent of cables to the SilentNight 500W. Both models feature single +12V rail designs, modern regulatory compliances, and protection against a variety of electrical anomalies, such as over/under voltage, overload, short-circuit, overheat, etc. The two will occupy price points around US $100.

The PSU is partially modular, when it comes to its cabling. The first +12V can deliver 45A of current; the 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, and the various peripheral power connectors (SATA, Molex, Berg) are connected to this rail. The second +12V rail can deliver 65A, and to it, a total of eight 6+2 pin PCI-Express power connectors are wired, of which two are fixed, and six are modular.
