ASUS Announces Premium Five-year Warranty with Selected ASUS ProArt Displays

ASUS today announced that ProArt Display PA and PQ series monitors purchased and registered in Europe, Middle East or Africa (EMEA) regions are now backed by a comprehensive five-year warranty. ProArt Displays are specially designed for creators working across multiple professional and prosumer disciplines, including movie production, 3D design, digital photography and more. Each ProArt Display is tailored for particular demands, with a focus on delivering outstanding visual experiences through application of the latest display technologies, while the range as a whole is designed to serve the needs of many different kinds of creator.

With ProArt Display, ASUS pioneers the new DisplayHDR 1.1 specification, the industry's first fully open standard to outlines a specific definition for high-dynamic-range (HDR) output quality. Only recently formalized by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), DisplayHDR 1.1 means that creators using ProArt Display products are assured of tighter performance requirements, including for luminance and color gamut.

ASUS Announces Tinker Edge R with AI Machine-Learning Capabilities

ASUS today announced Tinker Edge R, a single-board computer (SBC) specially designed for AI applications. It uses a Rockchip RK3399Pro NPU, a machine-learning (ML) accelerator that speeds up processing efficiency, lowers power demands and makes it easier to build connected devices and intelligent applications.

With this integrated ML accelerator, Tinker Edge R can perform three tera-operations per second (3 TOPS), using low power consumption. It also features an optimized neural-network (NN) architecture, which means Tinker Edge R can support multiple ML frameworks and allow lots of common ML models to be compiled and run easily.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 Now Available

Much of the fanfare surrounding AMD's high-end Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 "Renoir" mobile processors were captured by the 14-inch ROG Zephyrus G14 notebook, and now ASUS got around to shipping its bigger (albeit lesser endowed) sibling, the Zephyrus G15 (variant: GA502IU). This gaming notebook features a 15.6-inch 144 Hz Full HD IPS display. Under the hood are an AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS (35 W) 8-core/16-thread processors, 16 GB of memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics, and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. Connectivity includes 802.11ax WLAN, Bluetooth 5, 1 GbE wired Ethernet, and a USB 3.2 gen 2 type-C with power-delivery compliance. It is now selling for USD $1,299.

ASUS Intros ROG Strix GT35 Gaming Desktop with 10th Gen Core Processors

ASUS today rolled out its latest ROG Strix GT35 pre-built gaming desktop, powered by 10th generation Intel Core desktop processors. The top variant of this desktop is powered by an Intel Core i9-10900KF processor, paired with 64 GB of high frequency DDR4 memory, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics, an ASUS ROG Strix Z490-series motherboard, and a 240 mm x 120 mm AIO liquid CPU cooler taming the 10-core beast. Storage is care of a 1 TB NVMe SSD and a 2 TB SATA HDD. The desktop otherwise features the same chassis and connectivity options as the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X-powered ROG Strix GA35 desktop from March, which include Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5 GbE support. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS today announced its new range of Z490 motherboards designed to showcase the full potential of the new 10th Generation Intel Core processors. The 10th Gen Intel Core processors offer a combination of high thread counts and superfast single-core clocks. The Z490 chipset offers plenty of cutting-edge connectivity options, including a built-in WiFi controller, numerous USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, Intel Optane memory and chipset RAID support. Proprietary ASUS OptiMem III technology ensures better signal integrity and AI Overclocking technology help push CPU performance to its limits. Core i9-10900K vs. Ryzen 9 3950X Cinebench R15 Comparison Leaked

Ahead of its launch a leaked ASUS ROG marketing slide reveals Cinebench R15 performance comparisons between the new Intel Core i9-10900K and AMD's current MSDT flagship part, the Ryzen 9 3950X. The graphs also include Intel's previous gen flagship, the i9-9900K, which should provide a reasonable indication of where the new Core i7-10700K performance could land.

In the single-threaded Cinebench R15 test, the Core i9-10900K scores 222 points, while the 3950X scores 213, which is a 4.22% lead for the new Intel flagship over AMD's. The i9-9900K is 2.81% faster than the 3950X in the same test. The landscape changes completely with multi-thread. Armed with 16 cores and 32 threads, the 3950X tests 48.61% faster than the i9-10900K, and a whopping 94.14% faster than the i9-9900K, which means the 3950X should land around 90% (±5%) faster than the i7-10700K. Core i9-10900K vs. Ryzen 9 3900X should make for a fascinating contest.

ASUS ROG Strix Z490 Motherboard Lineup Pictuired

ASUS is preparing an elaborate lineup of ROG Strix series gaming motherboards based on the Intel Z490 chipset, which we detailed in an older report. These include nearly all ROG brand extensions, with the Strix Z490-E(xtreme), Strix Z490-F(ormula), Strix Z490-H(ero), Strix Z490-G(ene), Strix Z490-I(mpact), and with this series, debuting is the Strix Z490-A(ce). The Strix Z490-A is positioned just a notch below the Strix Z490-E in the pecking order, and is the fabled "white Strix" that did the rounds earlier in the media. It features silvery aluminium heatsins, and a white rear I/O shroud. You still get three M.2 NVMe slots, but only two of them have heatsinks.

The Strix Z490-E still rules the roost, with its stronger CPU VRM solution that uses active cooling. The Strix Z490-F isn't far behind in terms of features, but you lose out on things like WLAN. The Strix Z490-H is targeted at value-conscious buyers, and next to the Strix Z490-G, is possibly the cheapest product in the lineup. It still covers essentials such as a gaming-grade SupremeFX audio solution, and Intel-powered 2.5 GbE networking. The Strix Z490-G is possibly ASUS's most premium Micro-ATX board based on the chipset. The Strix Z490-I is possibly the company's second most premium Mini-ITX board based on this platform, featuring elaborate active cooling for the VRM, top-notch connectivity, and an 8-layer PCB. ASUS Partners with Portrait Displays on ProArt Displays with Calman Ready and Calman Verified Solutions

ASUS announced that it has partnered with Portrait Displays to bring Calman color calibration and accuracy to ASUS ProArt Displays. Portrait Displays' Calman color-calibration software is the leading choice for display calibration by color professionals in broadcast, production, and post-production, trusted by many respected Hollywood professionals. As part of an ongoing cooperation between ASUS and Portrait Displays, selected ProArt Displays are now either Calman Ready to indicate the ability to communicate directly with Calman software, or Calman Verified as an assurance of studio-quality color accuracy right out of the box.

ASUS recently posted a teaser collage of its upcoming motherboards, in which a motherboard with ProArt branding stood out. ASUS targets products from its ProArt brand at serious content creators, engineers, and professionals. The lineup includes notebooks, monitors, desktops, and other components related to creators. VideoCardz scored the first clear picture of the latest entry to the series, the ProArt Z490 Creator 10G. The board tosses out all "gaming" bling in favor of sober product design and premium components that go into reliable quasi-workstation builds. The ProArt brand is picking up the mantle from the coveted Pro WS brand.

Chunky, stall heatsinks with straight ridged lines cool the CPU VRM and two of the the board's three M.2 slots. Connectivity includes a 10 GbE interface through an included add-on card; a 1 GbE / 2.5 GbE onboard Ethernet interface, at least four USB 3.2 x2 ports (from which two are type-C), and display connectors that include a pair of DisplayPorts and a HDMI.

ASUS VivoBook S14 & S15 Ultrabooks Now Available for Purchase

The new VivoBook S14 (S433) & VivoBook S15 (S533) announced by ASUS at CES 2020 are now available for purchase. The pair of notebooks come with a starting price of $699 USD which includes an Intel Core i5-10210U, 8 GB DDR4, 512 GB NVMe SSD, 1080p Screen, Wi-Fi 6 and USB Type-C and can be bought from all major retailers retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg and MicroCentre. The VivoBook S14 (S433) and S15 (S533) will replace the aging VivoBook S13 (S330) and S15 (S530) released by Asus in 2018 with updated designs and processors. Asus is set to announce additional SKUs with Intel Ice Lake, 3rd generation Ryzen, and discrete GeForce MX GPUs soon.

Bitspower Intros Lotan VGA Water Block for ASUS Turbo GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER EVO

The Turbo GeForce RTX 2070 Super EVO from ASUS (pictured below) is the company's cheapest RTX 2070 Super card, featuring a lateral-blower cooling solution. It also presents the cheapest route to a water-cooled RTX 2070 Super, when paired with a compatible water block. Bitspower released just that. The Lotan VGA Block variant bearing model number "BP-VG2070SATEVO" is purpose-built for the Turbo EVO RTX 2070 Super card by ASUS.

The pseudo full-coverage block is slightly over two slots thick, measuring 232 mm x124 mm x 28 mm. It uses nickel-plated copper as its primary material, with a clear acrylic top that extends to the length of the card. The top is studded with addressable RGB LEDs, which take in standard 3-pin ARGB input. The block features four G1/4" threads. Available now, the Lotan BP-VG2070SATEVO is priced at USD $154.

ASUS Announces ProArt Display PA32UCX-P and PA27UCX

ASUS today announced ProArt Display PA32UCX-P and PA27UCX, 4K HDR monitors for professional content creators with groundbreaking Off-Axis Contrast Optimization (OCO) technology that maintains color accuracy in wide-angle viewing and makes the monitors ideal collaboration tools. The 32-inch PA32UCX-P and 27-inch PA27UCX feature mini-LED backlighting and support for multiple HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10 and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG). PA32UCX-P offers a peak brightness of 1200 cd/m² with 1152 zones of local dimming control, and PA27UCX offers a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m² with 576 zones.

Designed to give content creators professional-grade color performance, PA32UCX-P and PA27UCX come pre-calibrated and provide a Delta-E (ΔE) color accuracy of less than one in the sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces. They also feature quantum-dot technology that supports the DCI-P3, Rec. 709, Rec. 2020, sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces. For seamless calibration, the monitors are compatible with most major calibrators and professional calibration software.

ASUS Teases ProArt Branded Creator Motherboard and White ROG Strix

ASUS posted a teaser collage of its upcoming socket LGA1200 motherboard lineup based on the Intel Z490 chipset, touching upon its various motherboard families, and there are a few interesting finds. In response to various other companies launching creator-focused motherboards, ASUS is preparing to bring its coveted ProArt brand over to its motherboard family. ASUS ProArt brand includes the company's ultra-premium monitors meant for serious content-creation work, which later extended to notebooks and desktops targeting creators. ASUS has so far used the "Pro WS" brand to include its quasi-workstation grade motherboards based on both enterprise and client chipsets. The company recently listed all these Pro WS boards under the ProArt mini-site. ASUS's Z490 motherboard series will see the first physical appearance of the ProArt brand on the motherboard.

The next big find is white ROG Strix motherboards. The PCBs of these boards are still black, but white makes up the rear I/O shield, I/O shroud, chipset heatsink outer shroud, and silver/chrome replaces black on the board's various heatsinks. This is probably aimed at catering to the white-themed gaming PC builders, who were until now picking up the company's Prime family of motherboards for their builds owing to their splattering of white. The collage also shows off the quirky 45° angled orientation of the SATA ports on the ROG Maximus XII Apex.

ASUS Intros GeForce GTX 1650 GDDR6 Phoenix Graphics Card with Axial-Tech Fan

ASUS today introduced its GeForce GTX 1650 (GDDR6) Phoenix graphics card (model: PH-GTX1650-O4GD6). This 2-slot thick card is 17.4 cm in length and 12.6 cm in height, designed to fit in most SFF cases. Its cooling solution consists of an aluminium monoblock heatsink that's ventilated by a single 80 mm Axial-Tech fan. Found in some of ASUS's higher end cards, this fan features double-ball bearings, and an impeller with webbed edges, such that all its airflow is guided axially onto the heatsink below (and none laterally).

The GTX 1650 (GDDR6) Phoenix comes with a mild factory-overclock of 1605 MHz (vs. 1590 MHz reference for the GTX 1650 GDDR6). The card's 4 GB memory is untouched at 12 Gbps (GDDR6-effective). The card draws all its power from the PCI-Express slot. Display outputs include one each of dual-link DVI-D, HDMI 2.0b, and DisplayPort 1.4a. Based on the 12 nm "TU117" silicon, the GTX 1650 GDDR6 features 896 "Turing" CUDA cores, 56 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 128-bit wide GDDR6 memory interface, holding 4 GB of memory. The company didn't reveal pricing, although we expect it to be around $160.

AAEON Unveils AI and Edge Computing Solutions Powered by NVIDIA

AAEON, a leading developer of embedded AI and edge-computing solutions, today announced it is unveiling several new rugged embedded platforms—augmenting an already extensive lineup of AAEON AI edge-computing solutions powered by the NVIDIA Jetson platform. The new AAEON products provide key interfaces needed for edge computing in a small form factor, making it easier to build applications for all levels of users, from makers to more advanced developers for deployments in the field.

More ASUS Z490 Motherboard Specs Sheets Surface: 6-layer Minimum, Optimem III Dual-Rank DDR4 Optimization

Earlier today we brought you pictures and specs sheets of ASUS' top-tier ROG Maximus XII family of socket LGA1200 motherboards based on the Intel Z490 chipset. The rest of that slide-deck was leaked to the web by VideoCardz, revealing some fascinating specs common across the series. Apparently, a 6 PCB layers is the bare minimum for ASUS' lineup, which probably contributes to the elevated prices across the board. Some of the cheaper 300-series chipset motherboards make do with just 4 PCB layers.

The CPU VRM solutions are a definitely step up from the previous generations, designed to cope with rising electrical requirements of the 14 nm 10th gen Core processors. For the ATX and M-ATX models, 12+2 phase solutions appear to be the bare minimum for the ROG Strix Z490 series, and 9-phase for the cheapest Prime Z490 series. The ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming, which leads the ROG Strix Z490 series, tops the chart with a 16-phase solution that's probably similar to the one on the Maximus XII Hero. There's also a big innovation with memory optimization, series-wide. With its Z490 motherboard series, ASUS is transitioning from T-topology to daisy-chain, across the board. This is combined with the company's Optimem III automated memory optimization feature on select models, which enables you to populate all four slots on your motherboard with dual-rank DIMMs, and yet achieve frequencies as high as DDR4-3600, with timings as tight as CL16.

Here are some of the first pictures of the ASUS' high-end Republic of Gamers (ROG) Maximus XII family of socket LGA1200 motherboards based on Intel Z490 chipset. The lineup consists of an impressive 5 SKUs: ROG Maximus XII Extreme and Extreme Glacial (M12E); ROG Maximus XII Formula (M12F), ROG Maximus XII Hero WiFi (M12H), and the ROG Maximus XII Apex (M12A). The Maximus XII Extreme leads the pack with its 16-phase VRM that probably uses 90 A power stages. It includes Thunderbolt 3 and 10 GbE support. The Glacial version is possibly a combination of cosmetic- and functional changes (such as preparation for sub-zero cooling).

The Maximus XII Formula is the go-to board for overclockers with elaborate liquid-cooling setups. The board comes with liquid-cooling ready VRM heatsinks. Compared to the Extreme, the Formula loses out on Thunderbolt, but retains 10 GbE. The Maximus XII Hero (WiFi) is next in line, and somehow better endowed than the Maximus XII Apex, in featuring an 8-layer PCB like the Extreme and the Formula; and a combination of 5 GbE and 1 GbE networking. The Maximus XII Apex comes with a 6-layer PCB, a single 2.5 GbE connection, but somehow a similar CPU VRM configuration to the Extreme. This is probably how the Apex could end up pricier than the Hero. Find specific details in the specs sheet below.

ASUS Unveils ROG Strix 850W White Edition Power Supply

ASUS unveiled an addition to its ROG Strix power supply series with a new 850-Watt model. The series was, until now, led by a 750 W model. What's more the ROG Strix 850 W comes in a new White Edition trim, which sees a mostly white+silver color combination. Matte white with silver accents make up the PSU's body the AxialTech fan impeller, and the cables. Under the hood, the ROG Strix 850 W features a single +12V rail design with 80 Plus Gold rated efficiency, full-bridge LLC resonant converter, sync rectifier, and DC-to-DC switching. Among its connectors are a 24-pin ATX, two 4+4 pin EPS, six 6+2 pin PCIe power, ten SATA power, and three Molex. It is likely that ASUS extends the White Edition treatment to other models in the ROG Strix-G PSU series.

ASUS Readies Zenbook 14 Model Combining Ryzen 4000 and GeForce MX350 Graphics

ASUS is giving finishing touches to the launch of a new Zenbook 14 (UX434IQ) model with a combination of a Ryzen 4000 "Renoir" processor and NVIDIA's entry-level GeForce MX350 discrete graphics. Although never pictured and with no confirmation of whether it gets the swanky ScreenPad (a color touchscreen that works like the notebook's trackpad); the combine surfaced in a Futuremark database submission.

The Zenbook 14 (UX434IQ) combines an AMD Ryzen 7 4700U (8-core/8-thread) processor with NVIDIA GeForce MX350 discrete graphics, and more interestingly, 16 GB of LPDDR4x-4266 memory. The "Pascal" based MX350 graphics features 640 CUDA cores, and a 64-bit GDDR5 memory interface holding 2 GB of memory. It's marketed to offer a 2.5x performance uplift against an Intel Gen 9.5 iGPU, but we're not sure if it makes even a 1.5x uplift over the iGPU of the 4700U (448 "Vega" stream processors, 1600 MHz engine clock, plenty of memory bandwidth at its disposal thanks to LPDDR4x). The notebook also packs a decent Samsung PM981 1 TB NVMe SSD.

Here are some of the first pictures of the TUF Gaming Z490-PLUS WiFi, the company's top TUF Gaming series motherboard for socket LGA1200. The board retains its "yellow+black" color scheme and exuberant product design, and could possibly command a price of around $200, given that Z490 motherboards we've heard of so far appear to start around that price. The board pulls power from a combination of 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, and an additional 4-pin EPS (which appears to be the base minimum power input configuration for this platform). A 16-phase VRM conditions it for the CPU.

The processor is wired to four DDR4 DIMM slots, and one PCI-Express 3.0 x16. Four other PCIe 3.0 x1 or x4 slots make for the rest of the expansion. Storage connectivity on the TUF Gaming Z490-PLUS WiFi includes two M.2-2280 slots, with PCI-Express 3.0 x4 wiring; and six SATA 6 Gbps ports. Networking connectivity includes 802.11ax WLAN, and one wired Ethernet connection. It is very likely that a near-identical board based on the mid-range B460 chipset is in the works. What sets the two apart is probably CPU overclocking capability.

ASUS Leaks PRIME Z490-P and Z490-A Motherboards for Intel's 10th Gen

ASUS has inadvertently leaked images of their upcoming PRIME Z490-P and Z490-A motherboards, which will accompany the introduction of Intel's 10th Gen "Ice Lake" CPUs. As is usual with Intel, the new generation CPU release will be met with a new chipset launch, of which ASUS apparently has finalized designs: the company has uploaded Z490 pictures on their current Z390 PRIME webpage.

Like with previous ASUS designs, the PRIME Z490-P seems to target budget-conscious users, with a reduced feature set including a no-frills VRM heatsink design (which means the VRM itself isn't a top-tier one) and a pretty basic on-board sound processor. The motherboard still packs 2x M.2 slots and 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, though the rest of the expansion slots are of the 1x kind (4x slots in total). The Z490-A, though, boasts of a more premium construction, with oversized heatsinks (including for at least one of the M.2 slots) and 3x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots alongside 3x Pcie 3.0 1x slots. The sound processing subsystem has also been clearly beefed up in comparison.

ASUS Intros TUF Gaming VG279Q1R 27-inch Monitor

ASUS today rolled out the TUF Gaming VG279Q1R, a fast 27-inch gaming monitor. If you're willing to overlook its Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, on offer is an IPS panel with 144 Hz refresh-rate, 1 ms MPRT response time, ELMB (extreme low motion blur), and AMD FreeSync Premium support. ASUS offers most of its gamer-specific innovations such as GamePlus (hardware crosshairs, FPS counter, timer, multi-display alignment); and GameVisual (game genre-specific display presets). Display inputs include a DisplayPort 1.2a, and two HDMI 1.4a. The stand offers basic tilt adjustments, and can be detached to reveal a VESA wall mount. We expect a $250 price.

ASUS Updates its GeForce GT 710-based Card with 4x HDMI Output

ASUS updated its circa 2016 GeForce GT 710 graphics card with a new PCB and a modern display output setup. The GT710-4H-SL-2GD5 succeeds the GT710-SL series graphics cards. While those were truly half-height and single-slot, the new card is full-height. These cards aren't really meant for gaming in 2020, but rather something to put out graphics if you have a workstation with many displays and can't be bothered with 3D rendering performance. This particular card puts out four HDMI ports. You can connect up to one 4K UHD display at 60 Hz. If more than one 4K display is connected, the refresh-rate is limited to 30 Hz. We guess this card is best suited for video walls or digital signage setups. Expect it to be priced around $50.

Bitspower today unveiled its Mono Block for the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact X570 motherboard. It is designed to cool the socket AM4 processor and CPU VRM of the Crosshair VIII Impact, with precisely-laid base-plate contact points for the board's 8+2 phase VRM and the processor.
