At the 2025 International CES, we went hands on with some of the first Schenker XMG enthusiast notebooks that feature a next-generation NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. These include the Schenker Key 18 PRO, and the XMG Neo 16. The Key 18 Pro is a massive portable workstation featuring an 18-inch 16:10 display with either 2560 x 1600 or 3840 x 2400 pixels resolution, with either 500 nits or 400 nits brightness, respectively. The notebook is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor (8P+16E, 36 MB cache), with four DDR5 SODIMM slots that you can add up to 192 GB of memory to. The star attraction of course is its NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, which is configured with 24 GB of video memory, and 175 W of power. A large 98 Wh battery powers the beast.

Meanwhile, the XMG Neo 16, as its name suggests, has a 16-inch display. This is 16:10, with 2560 x 1600 resolution, comes with 300 Hz refresh rate, and 1000 nits brightness. You get the same combination of a Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, with the GPU getting 175 W of power. There are two DDR5 CSODIMM slots (SODIMMs with CKD). The company also showed off two of its key innovations that power the two notebooks, its mainboard with a proprietary bridge connector between the motherboard and discrete GPU board; and its two new cooling solutions.

Among the notable additions is support for AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which builds upon AMD's successful 3D V-Cache technology and is scheduled to launch tomorrow. The update also covers Intel's "Arrow Lake" processors, including both HX and H series variants. The Arrow Lake lineup integration spans multiple performance tiers, from the flagship Core Ultra 9 285HX down to the mainstream Core Ultra 5 series. The update extends beyond processors to support CUDIMM ((Clocked Unbuffered DIMM) DDR5 memory. CUDIMMs represent a modified DDR5 memory featuring an integrated Client Clock Driver (CKD) that generates its clock signal to minimize noise and jitter at speeds of 6400 MT/s and above, ensuring better stability and data integrity than traditional DDR5 modules.

Kovan Yang set a new memory frequency record of DDR5-12196 (6097.6 MHz). This was possible with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265K with 2P+0E configuration running at a low 400 MHz, an MSI MEG Z890 Unify-X motherboard, and a single Kingston FURY Renegade 24 GB CKD module. The sub-timings achieved were 48-120-120-127-2. Not much else is known about the feat, such as the cooling or DRAM voltages used. The 5°C CPU temperature reading in the CPU-Z validation page suggests that an extreme cooling solution is being used. The Core Ultra "Arrow Lake-S" processor and Z890 platform, when paired with CUDIMMs (DDR5 DIMMs with client clock drivers) yield extreme memory overclocking capabilities, with several initial memory OC records breaching the 12000 MT/s mark. DDR5 CU-DIMM - The New Generation of DDR5 Memory

Ahead of its launch, some of the first pictures of G.Skill Memory's Trident Z5 CK series DDR5 CUDIMMs leaked to the web. The "CK" brand extension is used to denote CUDIMMs, or DDR5 DIMMs with a client clock-driver (CKD) component. Asgard joined the ranks of V-Color to unveil its first high-frequency DDR5 memory, the Thor DDR5-9600. V-Color recently launched its DDR5-9200 memory, and Asgard one-upped it with DDR5-9600. Both these are CUDIMMs—UDIMMs that feature a client clock driver (CKD) component. These modules feature the highest bins of DDR5-9600 chips from SK Hynix. The advertised speed of DDR5-9600 is achieved using timings of 44-56-56-136, and a scorching DRAM voltage of 1.50 V. The module includes an XMP 3.0 profile to enable these settings on an Intel platform. With a single-rank configuration and 24 GB module density, the dual-channel kit gives you 48 GB. Asgard revealed that it is working on a DDR5-10000 kit. The company didn't announce US availability.
