Corsair Teases the Performance of its Upcoming MP700 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD

Corsair decided it was time to start teasing its upcoming MP700 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, although the company didn't bother providing any images of the drive itself, or any specifications in the teaser. However, Corsair did provide some sequential performance figures, which end up being impressive and disappointing at the same time. The MP700 is said to offer sequential read speeds of up to 10 GB/s or 10,000 MB/s if you prefer and sequential write speeds of 9.5 GB/s. These are obviously very fast speeds, but quite far from what the PCIe 5.0 can deliver and the performance figures are only a bit faster than the best PCIe 4.0 drives. It's likely that we'll see better performance from second generation controllers, just as we did with PCIe 4.0 SSDs, as this gives both the SSD controller makers and the SSD makers a chance to refresh their products a year or two down the line.

The CORSAIR PC Builder is even able to intelligently optimize the parts selected, so that you don't overspend or bottleneck your build with a mismatched component.

Corsair Gaming Reports Q2 2022 Financial Results

Corsair Gaming, Inc. ("Corsair" or the "Company"), a leading global provider and innovator of high-performance gear for gamers and content creators, today announced financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2022. Andy Paul, Chief Executive Officer of Corsair, stated, "Headwinds from Q1 persisted through Q2, which is seasonally the lowest quarter for us, with macro-economic headwinds affecting consumer spending on gaming gear, especially in Europe combined with global inflation, the continued Russia and Ukraine conflict, and high freight costs. This resulted in a buildup of inventory both in our warehouses as well as in the retail channel, thus causing our channel partners to delay ordering while they clear this stock.

Despite the challenging environment, we continue to see positive underlying growth trends in the gaming hardware sector, and we see spending levels significantly above pre -pandemic levels. We are also starting to see more enthusiasts building gaming PCs again as graphics cards are now more readily available at reasonable prices. We saw very positive signs during Amazon Prime week, with component activity significantly higher than in 2021, both in Europe as well as in the United States. While we are disappointed with the lower results in Q2, we are very pleased to see positive market activity recently and with our channel inventory moving back into line during Q2 and Q3 2022, we expect demand for our products to recover well as we finish the year and look forward to an exciting 2023."

Corsair Expects Losses to Reach $11 Million for 2Q 2022

Corsair, one of the world's leading PC component brands, is being hit hard by macroeconomics and consumers' choice - and sometimes need - to keep more dollars in their pockets. According to its own internal accounting, the company has announced that it expects between $10 and $11 million dollars in losses for 2Q 2022 (April-June) throughout its business. Remember that this isn't a case of a company being too specific in its product line and taking the heat from it; Corsair has one of the most diverse lineups in PC components, ranging from memory, water and air cooling, SSDs, peripherals, and even monitors.

Not unlike other businesses, which have seen inventory levels soar on account of much lower than expected sales, Corsair too has seen its warehouses starting to fill up - not unlike the company's financials, there's less and less oxygen within its warehouses as inventory piles up. Corsair did say it expects business to pick up considerably in the third quarter, as it has seen an uptick in enthusiast-level PC gaming sales (likely spurred by the dropping prices of GPUs as miners dump their graphics cards in expectation of Ethereum's Merge event, set for September). The increase in sales leads the company to believe it will achieve a 35% YoY (year-over-year) growth throughout the second half of 2022, which will hopefully be enough to push the company back above the red line.

Now with HDR600, the XENEON 32UHD144 is capable of a wide brightness range and color gamut, for greater detail in the darkest and brightest scenes. Background noise such as fans, chatter, or traffic disappear, leaving the speaker's voice crystal clear. NVIDIA Broadcast effects also cancel room echo, providing dampened, studio-quality acoustics in a wide range of environments, without the need to sound-proof the walls and ceiling.
