After the long reign of the most popular water block on the market, the EK-Quantum Velocity, it's time to push the boundaries yet again and step into the future. Enter the next generation EK Quantum Line water block - the EK-Quantum Velocity². The water block showcases the EK-Matrix7 initiative, a standard where increments of 7 mm manage the height of products and the distance between ports. This product uses a socket-specific cooling engine to ensure the best performance and optimal flow with low restrictions on every platform. Strictly Quantum: EK Shows New Velocity2 CPU Blocks, Lignum GPU Block, Real Gold Fittings and More!

EK Water Blocks, or simply EK as the company refers to itself now, had a decent showing at the virtual Computex 2021 event including new AIO CPU coolers, additions to its Fluid Gaming and Fluid Works portfolio, and more water blocks based on current designs and supporting newer hardware, including one we reported on just a few hours ago. These all interested me, but then there was a nearly two hour private conversation followed by a live stream that ended minutes ago which shed more light on future updates and products in its mainstream Quantum DIY liquid cooling lineup.

There were renders of the upcoming Velocity² CPU blocks shared before, but seeing them actually manufactured is a whole other thing. Velocity² is the update to EK's popular Velocity CPU blocks, with a complete redesign that evokes more comparisons to monoblocks than other CPU blocks. Taking cues from the flagship EK-Quantum Magnitude, you will see different cooling engines to better cool different CPU sockets. There is also a concealed aesthetic theme here, especially for the acetal top version where you can't see any screws in use, thanks to a patent-pending mounting mechanism from the back- again taking cues from monoblocks. EK says the new system uses "pre-tensioned springs concealed in the water block top, so with just a few turns on the thumb-nuts, the installation is finished". CORSAIR Launches the $60 Hydro XC5 RGB CPU Water Block

In a somewhat puzzling trend, this is yet another launch from CORSAIR's Hydro X series of custom watercooling components that has not been marketed by the company. It took a careful set of eyes to see the new CPU block, the Hydro X Series XC5, on their website and evidently this is a new release targeting even more a budget-friendly build compared to the Hydro XC7 and Hydro XC9 blocks. The XC5 block is a cost-down version of the XC7, with support for Intel LGA 115x/1200 and AMD AM4 CPU sockets depending on the SKU you go with. Gone is the transparent top, and instead we see a black nylon top with a patterned cutout for RGB lighting. The nickel-plated copper cold plate is replaced with passivated copper, which may also please all you pure copper folks out there, and the 16 RGB LEDs are now set up in 8 lighting zones (two LEDs per zone) as opposed to fully addressable 16 dRGB LEDs on the XC7. This means that the Hydro XC5 blocks can be had for $60/€60 before applicable taxes, which is $20 less than the XC7 on street pricing at the moment.

CORSAIR Quietly Updates Hydro X Blocks, Confirms RTX 3000-series GPU Blocks

CORSAIR announces more new products each year than most companies, and this often means that marketing resources get devoted to the high-ticket items more often than not. Their custom watercooling line, the Hydro X Series, is not always one of them and so we end up seeing quiet updates without a press release or even a direct note from their representatives to the media. With the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000-series cards coming in three different categories as far as custom watercooling goes (reference, Founders Edition, AIC-variants), we took the weekend to briefly check what the usual custom watercooling suspects were up to. A page on the CORSAIR website confirms, among other things, that Hydro X GPU blocks are on the way for at least the reference PCB, if not more.

More interestingly, we noted that the Hydro XC7 and XC9 CPU blocks had been updated in more ways than one. We have detailed reviews of both (XC7, XC9) for those who want to see, and our review of the iCUE Nexus also showed a rebranding in the making for the company. The updated CPU blocks carry the new wordmark design for the logo on all 5 SKUs and, more importantly, change the mounting mechanism to allow for a captive system with new thumb screws that should make installation even easier on all Intel and AMD CPU sockets. This should bring with it increased compatibility with crowded m-ITX motherboards as well, and we see it reflected in the additional 719 motherboards in the compatibility list relative to before. Finally, a motherboard ARGB LED adapter is now included in the packaging, so you can use the integrated lighting with motherboard LED headers and control software, should you not want to pony extra for CORSAIR's ecosystem. Pricing for the Hydro XC7 is now $5 higher and the same as the XC9, which is confusing given it uses fewer fins on the cold plate and, the launch versions at least, employed a plastic trim compared to the metal on the XC9. We have contacted the company for clarification on this, and will update the post as we receive more information.

Bitspower has announced pre-order availability of its long-named "Bitspower CPU Block Summit ELX for AMD TRX40 Platform with OLED". The Summit ELX block is compatible with both AMD's TRX40 and X399 platforms, so you can deploy it on a last-gen Threadripper and look to upgrade in the future without having to replace your entire watercooling setup.

Bitspowers says the selling points are the OLED illumination and cooling capabilities of this waterblock, with its "clean look and high-density heat sink fin design". The "two-way tunnel design", according to Bitspower, saves you form the hassle of having to route waterways in a specific direction - you are free to routa ientry and exit points of your heatsink as it better suits your PC-building options. The Summit ELX for AMD TRX40 with OLED features a narrow footprint to ensure it doesn't interfere with the RAM slots, as well as a metal top layer and a copper base plate. The lighting elements are compatible with ASUS AURA Sync, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light Sync, ASRock Polychrome, and Razer Chroma. The preorder is available for TWD 4,200, which amounts to some $140.

The OLED display is housed on a metal top plate, with an acrylic body enabling side views of the coolant, a temperature sensor enabling readout on the display, as well as the integrated dRGB LEDs for lighting options compatible with ASUS AURA Sync, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light Sync, and ASRock Polychrome.

The cooling engine uses a nickel-plated copper base plate, with 0.3 mm CNC-machined fins and microchannels that are part of a split central-inlet flow promising high coolant flow directly over the fins to remove as much heat from the CPU as possible. This is similar to the vast majority of CPU block designs in practice, but manufacturers tend to experiment with the flow schematic to see if they can do better, so time will tell how the Summit M fares on the TechPowerUp test bench. In the meantime, it is available for direct purchase from the Bitspower store for 4500 NTD (~$150 USD) before any applicable taxes and shipping costs.

Bitspower Unveils the Touchaqua CPU Block Summit MS For AM4 Processors

Bitspower today unveiled the Touchaqua series Summit MS for AMD socket AM4. The block is designed for full coverage of the AMD socket AM4 processor IHS, and can uniformly cool even the latest "Matisse" MCMs since its micro-fin lattice is spread across a wider area than most other socket AM4 blocks. The primary material is copper, with a central portion that has a mirror-finish; while the top is made of acrylic with an embedded addressable-RGB strip that takes in 3-pin aRGB input. The block measures 111 mm x 73 mm x 20.3 mm (LxWxH), and takes in standard G 1/4" fittings. The block is now available for pre-order from Bitspower website.

Bitspower at COMPUTEX 2019: New CPU, GPU Blocks and Conceptual Products

Bitspower at COMPUTEX 2019 showcased new products and conceptual, advanced looks at products that are still being developed. The company showcased GPU waterblocks for both the NVIDIA RTX 20-series of graphics cards, as well as AMD's current top of the line Radeon VII. On the GPU waterblock side of things, they also showcased an in-development block with a rugged texture and design that carries Bitspower's logo, which would certainly look great on a vertically-mounted GPU.
